I have played every game ever made

Ok there are a lot of games out there. I happen to have a great gaming computer and must say, the detail graphics in this game are superb. This is acually a great game to play now. Shame people really don't give it a try. This allowed me to get back into online gaming. Since I am at level 3 in spelling, is there something I'm not seeing in regards to a spell checker here? Quite enbarressing for me to type when I can't spell the word "dawg" Conan rocks try it, play it.

Game till you bleed....

The thing is, most people have given it a try and have not liked it. I played for quite a while, but at the time there were a ton of 3rd-party hacking users and Funcom wasn't doing diddly about them.

The game, is gorgeous, but graphics do not make a game.

I agree with you. Graphics don't make a game. I tryed this game when it first came out. Played a month then quit. Just started 2 weeks ago and personally found the whole new revamped refreshing ,and intriging. It (so far) has totally drawn me back in. For me anyway so far it's "fun" Thanks for your input

I've given it four tries and I still havn't been able to get a toon past level 40  without getting bored and going back to Vanguard and WoW. It feels to me like it's missing some vital, super-secret ingredient that I can't seem to put my finger on. I really don't get it. On paper, AoC seems to be ideally suited for me. Casual friendly? Check. Solo-play friendly? Check. Gorgeous graphics and immersive sound effects? Check. Quest based leveling, as opposed to mindless mob grinding? Check. Ability to accomplish something meaningful in the hour or two have free each day to play games? Check. So why does it bore me to tears?

i feel this post.   there are plenty of games that i dont really have anything negative to say anything about...LOTRO, AOC, EVE, as well as games like warhammer, EQ2, guildwars...

for some reason they just never grab me. i end up back in WoW around expansion time, play for a 5-6 months, then dick around with other games for a while. i cant put my finger on what these other games lack - maybe its because i know more people in WoW (hmm). but wow has personality, i have to say.  like that girl who is a 6/7, but loves to drink, is a bit 'freaky', etc., making her somehow sexier than a straight up 9.5/10. hell even when you QUIT wow it has personality, with the crying orc and guy begging you to stay (flame all you like, you know its true).

Exactly the same for me too, if im not playing wow, which ive not really played in 1.5 years really, im forever searching for that new game that grabs my attention...which never happens. Sad really:(

AoC looks good but, I never really liked the whole directional attack thing.  Some may like it but, to me it just seemed to add more button spamming to the game than I prefer.

WoW...  well, I tried it a couple of times.  It never really grabbed me that much and though I cannot question its popularity, I just do not care for it.

I have been hopping from new release to new release and each one has its merits and some are better than the others.  Nothing so far has been able to hold my attention more than about 3-5 months.  After that, I am looking for the next new shiney one to come out.

APB is currently fun and refreshingly different from most.  Tho arguably it plays more like an FPS than a MMO.  The maps are static like an FPS and MMO but, quite larger than most FPS and more realisticly laid out than many MMO.

I can see the arguments for its becomeing stale quite fast so....  I will probably be jumping on the DCUO when it comes out nest and looking at FFXIV as well.  who knows where I will be in the next 6 months.

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.

I am in a pickle because i like this about aoc, eq1/eq2, vanguard soh, lotro, but there is also enough to truly piss me off in each one.

Like i want some gaming developer to come in and pick the good from each and toss the bad. I know it will never happen but i still am hopeful.

AoC to me is great in small chunks. I play for a month and then loath and hate it, so i drop it for 6 months until i get that urge again.

I do the same thing with eq1 and lotro. (I used to do the same for eq2 but the developmental path of that game has convinced me to never ever play it again.)

To me, the perfect game would have the raw beauty and graphics of AoC, as well as its nudity gore and fatalities.

Add to that the sheer size and variety of the everquest 1 world, and its ability to just mob grind and not depend on a quest grind. (good games should have both and not be dependant on one another for advancement)

Tie into that the "specialness" of the Lotro world. I can't quite put my finger on what exactly makes it special, but it truly is. (granted it is another game that makes me sick if i play it more than a month or two at a time)

    sigh

AOC has come along way since it first came out and Im actually impressed with the revamp, and just recently we got a Ranger class overhaul that has actually made playing a ranger fun again! Im looking forward to all the new and exciting features that are in the works!

Well for me personally i have run into a brick wall, i got my DT up to max level but all of a sudden i dont feal like playing it anymore (So glad i got pre-paid time instead of subbing for 6 month's like i did Aion) my game time runs out August 15 and i think i will wait for something really big to come back. It's by no means a bad game i consider it a beast amongst other mmo's but the end-game raiding becomes very boring fast and thats what people are mainly doing. Maybe with flaming swords (Wasnt that in the arnold movie's?) maybe gear that doesnt look flimsy, and mounts that dont need 100G it will vastly improve but the toned down nature of the pseudo-historical atmosphere of the game tends to bore me faster than other mmo's. Dam you other mmo's for spoiling me with your glowing armor, weapons and varied mounts.

Good question. MMO burnout perhaps? Some games have me held for maybe a month but if I take a short break I am often not motivated to start playing again. Maybe I approach them wrong. One thing I hate is when it is difficult to find people for group content in particular areas so you solo a bit.....and out level it.

Since that was a great analogy, I'm gonna elaborate on it :)

As for the upcoming MMO's within the next 2 years: there you are sitting at your regular hangout spot, thinking how that 6/7 girl becomes sexier and sexier the longer she hangs out with you guys. But then a group of girls enters the bar, making a stunning appearance. Some have that air of mystery around them, others just look gorgeous and exotic. And then there's one who manages to top them all: she's a stunning beauty, loves to drink, has the moves and knows how to dance, is witty and when you talk with her you even learn she has some of the same  freakish hobbies and interests you have. You try to be rational and keep your cool and objectivity, but then you realise: you're smitten.

AoC is a good game but still leaves you with a bit of a hollow feeling inside when it comes to it's core.

My fear is that GW2 will be just like AOC,  Dim-witted chick with drop dead looks.  In other words...same old same old interface and controls.

Uh if you've read anything at all about GW2 you would know it is anything BUT the same old... I'll just assume you're a troll.

No not at all it's just my opinion.  Next time try not to pressume anything.

Theres nothing to do...it used to be try to get lockouts on all your toons and gear them out once a week.  But if your like me and you only play one char theres nothing to do after you finish t1 t2 and 90% of t3 raids.  Sure i could go grind faction marks that would take months.  BUt the Rise of the Godslayer is quite possibly buggier than launch aoc.

The thing that turned me off completely wow was how you cleared one area, leveled and moved onto the next to kill another 5 of these, then 10 of those etc and then you never went back to the previous areas.  Wash, rinse and repeat.

To be fair I may not have got to a high enough level where it changed (only like lvl 20 and I had to force myself to do that).  I think that meant I could see the whole 80 levels planned out for me ahead if you know what I mean.

I suspect that later it may get better but I just couldn't do it.

Wow is the worst mmo on the market right now if you are actually looking for any kind of legitimate challenge and gear that is not going to be worthless every patch that is released.

I'm sure blizzard will get their next mmo right, but there was a reason arenanet remade guild wars, because the game went too far down a path they were not pleased with. This is the state WoW has been in for a long time and it will NEVER recover because that game is made for instant gratification. Period.
