I'm pretty curious to try this game out because of the setting of the game, but is there only one town in the whole game? is there no exploration?
I was kinda hoping for a small village in the dark forests where there can be werewolves, or other night critters that a party and I can face. I just like that type of setting, is there such a place in this game? I appreciate your replies

Last time I played was months ago. There is a starter village which you can leave and go into a zone and do some quests, but it is a lot of beginner stuff. After that, you go to the main city and do quests there. Each section of the city has quests for different level players. I remeber a lot of the quests were like 'Go into the Sewers and kill X Y Z' or 'Defend this guy's tavern' or 'Kill everything in this warehouse' type stuff. All of the quests were instanced, and you could not gain experience outside of an instance.
Short answer, I do not believe there is a world to explore. I remeber it as one big city with quests to do in it.
There are quite a few outdoor areas to explore in the game.
Areas where you gain xp for exploring, fighting, seeking out (mini) boss fights, and traveling to various quests....
Although it's not a wide open world like i would have hoped for, it is pretty fun.
Between these outdoor areas and the dungeons it feels very much like pnp D&D,
I'm just not a big fan of the city itself.
In any event, its a free game and well worth the time and memory to try it.
The city of Stormreach, is like Stormwind City X5 in World of Warcraf. You Have :
Starter area, Korthos
Kind of like the next Starter area, The Harbor
The Market
House K
House J
House D
House P
After the starter area of Korthos level 1-3, You can freely go from one area to the next as they are all equal. However, the Harbor is mainly designed to hold quest for levels 2-5 only, to make it easer to use the map for noobs.
Their are entire Instance worlds, complete with vender's, and small towns that your party can rest and relax. These areas are extremely large, some even have taverns. Example's are :
The Ruins of Giant hold
Three Barrel Cove
Necropolis
And MANY OTHERS
In my opinion, having these areas are a must, AS THEY ARE THE CORE OF THE GAME. But they are paid Adventure Packs. Having them ALL will make the game not seem small, and boring, as the Free player only see's.
VERY IMPORTANT, and it's only my opinion:
That it's best to give free to play a try, and if you like it, then pay the full monthly price. " Yes " the free content can be done all the way to cap, but it's the real boring stuff, adding to the fact, that you will struggle to find free players after around level 5. Also add to the fact that all the free Dungeons look like the same boring hall ways that you see in the 1 to 5 areas, you will not get to see the Pirate, Vampires, and the Giants in deep rich graphic areas.
The Adventure packs are a tease, YOU NEED THEM ALL. !!
I've played to level 11 about two years ago, and know this for a fact, you are missing a lot with out paying the monthly fee. I'm am now at level 5. I spent, the last two days finding a real pay to play guild, and added a few Pay to Play friends to my list. I'm well equipped to enjoy the game as it should be played, and will sign up for the monthly charges today after I get out of work.
Free to play, is a joke, unless you intend to really have no choice but to play for free.
Buying Adventure packs are really a waist, because you will out level them soon and need more. Making it more expensive than the monthly charge. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU DIFFERENT !!!!
I still say they should have made a Planescape MMO if they were set on using all the instancing. The city of Sigil is meant to be a cramped huddle of doors that lead to private universes. The lore *wanted* it to be that way, and I think players would have forgiven it more for using it.
Who the hell likes Eberron anyway? Seriously...
Otherwise, I agree that it's a fine game, and I even played it when it was sub-only for quite some time. The claustrophobia does exist, but the PvE content is some of the best in any MMO, ever. Very, very smart instances.

Actually if you buy points and packs on sale you can do much better then the monthly pay to play over the course of about a year. If you planned to play DDO for a couple of years Premium is a very good option. I have always been and will continue to pay each month, but it is very possible to save money by going premium and buying the packs you want and feel you need.
You have the 1 starter village with quests branching off of it including a wilderness area (closest thing you'll get to a big open exploration area) that will have quests off of it.
After the starter area you move to the mainland and the City of Stormreach. It's set up is just like the starter island, but on a much bigger scale; one adventure pack has you playing in a graveyard area, another a pirate island, one a desert area etc.....
All quests are instances for just you or your party. Some are small dungeons, some building interiors and some are good sized multi-level places. So all in all you can have some small scale exploration but no big open world stuff.
While there are a lot of different monsters I don't think I've heard of any werewolves or night creatures to fight. Turbines D&D is from Wizard of the Coasts Ebberon's version which I don't think they had any night creatures.
SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter
I will tell you AND them different. VIP is great if you have a regular income. If you lose that, you're back to Free to Play. Over time, when I've had the money for it, I've bought all the adventures. I own the game, and when I go for stretches that I can't play, when I come back, its still there, and I don't have to pay anything. I think that in the long run that the Premium route might be the best way, but that's just my opinion. Moldy2's opinion is just as valid.
