Good catch sir. Just pre-ordered the CE now.

Not as good a deal as it sounds.  I've already pre-ordered through Amazon cause I have far better trust in them but I decided to check it out to see if there are any catches; just because, and surely enough there is.

    Firstly:

USA Overnight - $0.00 - Allow 1 business day for transit & 1 business day for processing.

Thats not a very reassuring offer to recieve the item the day of release, sounds more like you won't recieve it until the 23rd or 24th and while that may not seem like as big a deal for some, it is for others including me, that have several names I'd like to make sure I claim, for my main and at least 1-2 alts.  And its a new MMO, and not everyone may feel this way, but getting in there as one of the early ones as quickly as possible feels good!  I want my full 8 days of early access to slowly enjoy the game before the masses swarm in...hehe

    Secondly:

    Order Summary

    Subtotal:

       $74.99

    Estimated Tax:

       $5.62

    Handling:

       $0.00   FREE!

    Total:

       $80.61

Notice the $5.62 in tax they slipped in there, that no other place I know of so far, especially Amazon is charging, which again is not very much, but still, it only costs $5.98 from Amazon for their guaranteed "Release-Date Delivery"  with which I've ordered from them in the past on several MMO releases and it was on my door the morning/afternoon of the release day...always!

    Anyway...

Fixed, as stated in a post below, the shipping from Amazon is only $5.98...

    Where are you from?

The US release-date delivery for amazon is $5.96.

Oops my bad it is $5.98, I had another item in there that was supposed to have free shipping on it, that made the shipping higher...is still a better deal through Amazon!

Don't want to start another thread just for this question:  Does anyone know if a digital purchase (download) will be available?

    No one knows.

FFXI is available on steam, if that's any indicator.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

There has been no mention of one yet, but I wouldn't doubt seeing one eventually.  Personally though, I love having boxes for my games, the virtual version just doesn't have that ownership aura to them!

Notice the $5.62 in tax they slipped in there,{technically 1/2 the price of Amazons' shipping cost} that no other place I know of so far, especially Amazon is charging, which again is not very much, but still, it only costs $11.96 from Amazon for their guaranteed "Release-Date Delivery"  with which I've ordered from them in the past on several MMO releases and it was on my door the morning/afternoon of the release day...always!

    Anyway...

I've pre-ordered a few games from Gamestop. I have always recieved the game on the day of its release.

The tax thing is shifty, agreed. I do not know why some internet purchases charge you tax and others do not. It may have to do with if that company has a storefront presence in your respective state? Just guessing here.

Either way, a 6 dollar tax is still cheaper than a 12 dollar shipping fee. /shrug  6 bucks is 6 bucks.

The $11 shipping was a typo.  The amazon release-day shipping is < $6.  So it's a wash, except for dealing with GameStop.

I never had a problem with gamestop... Because I just buy/pre-order new games from them.

Don't agree with want they do with selling used games for $5 less then the new one, but other then that

Just put in a preorder with Amazon, with Prime I was able to get release day delivery for free. Never ordered a game from them before though, I'm hoping it goes well.

You'll get it in time to play on the 22nd, Amazon is good that way, and here is what they have to say about this feature:

Release-Date Delivery is available for selected pre-order items we know we can deliver on the date the item releases for ZIP codes within the continental United States. Some carriers make deliveries to residential addresses as late as 7pm, so please allow sufficient time for the delivery.

Unlike Gamestop ~ USA Overnight - $0.00 - Allow 1 business day for transit & 1 business day for processing.  So their overnight doesn't sound like it'll arrive on the 22nd...

BTW, I really really dislike Gamestop...with every fiber of my being...hehe!

I've always preorded collector's editions from gamestop, and I've always gotten them on time, and sometimes a day or two beforehand.

"For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed:
And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!"

Yep, exactly this.  I ordered by copy and with the same day it's like 80 bucks verses the 90 + with gamestop and about 2 days difference.  Couldn't be happier

I have Prime also (I use Amazon a lot...so it makes sense, the cost is worth it) and I too will be getting the free overnight with it.

I've pre-ordered five or six games of their website with overnight shipping and have gotten every one on the day of release.
