I really wish we knew if this game will have controls like the newer mmo's standard keyboard and mouse controls. I want to pre order it but i couldnt stand ffix controls. Is the reason i did not play it, i just couldnt get used to the controls. So id really like to know what final fantasy xiv control system is like asap so i can pre order or not.

It really doesn't matter though, you can always cancel your pre-order in most places.
What's so bad about playing with a pad though?
I always just configured FFXI to play like other MMOs with a keyboard...
There should be options to configure XIV i'm guessing.
FFXIV has the same old keyboard controls, but like the FFXI you can change them to make them like new MMOs. But, I think the game is best played with a Play Station Controller, the game seems as if it made to be played that way and it makes it feel a bit more Unique
I guess then ill wait and see what people say about it once its released.

Tanaka has already said that FFXIV will have the classic FFXI controls as an option, but if you can't stand playing with a KB only, you can use a controller; I'm told works quite well...never tried it myself though. Last I heard though the WASD + Mouse controls were still as wonky as they are in FFXI.
Ya will see i guess i cant use a controller i have a messed up hand its to awkward to hold for me, and the keyboard control like the old is difficult as well. I need wasd and mouse to play. Otherwise i just cant do it. Its not really personell prefrence its more of a necessity really.
