Wow what a loaded poll. Hey are you a republican because I only see this kinda stuff from them. No you wanna know why I play wow? Well I'll tell you. I have fun while doing it. The animations are smooth and don't make me feel like I"m watching some 200 pound guy in a motion capture suit. The zones are interesting and flow well. The classes all have a unique feel to them, and the story is actually interesting. Plus wow has a ton of depth to it's classes while mainting a retively easy level of gameplay. So friends of who where orginaly intimadated by MMORPG's find themselves not only able to play wow, but enjoying themselves while they do it. Basicly what I'm saying all around WOW is the Best MMORPG I've ever play. Bar none.
For the record I'm no slouch to MMORPGs either, here is the list.
Everquest 1 year Anarchy Online 6 months Darkage of Camelot 2 years FFXI 3 Months Horizans 2 Months Rubies of Eventide 1 day Starwars Galaxies 3 months City of Hereos 3 months Saga of Ryzom Beta 2 months Asheron's Call 2 2 months Shadowbane 2 weeks.
I play WoW because it is just fun. It's not a major commitment like EQ was, so I can play, progress at my own pace, AND have a life at the same time. Yay!

other: You know at first, a friend asked me to play. And of course being an unbias person i tried it out. and of course it turned out real well. I was highly suprised at how well it was developed. The least amount of bugs out of any game first released to date. Not only that, but it has the content that most mmorpgs have after a year of release. The ease of leveling is good for most of us, i for one don't have a ton of time in the day to spend playing games. Unlike the EQ style of making you do some crazy raid for 6 to 8 hours. The quests are very well written, unlike the EQ2 style of just saying some unrelated gibberish and then make you go kill X rats or X badgers or some other silly creature. The graphics are very nice on a good system. They may be a bit cartoony, but it still looks nice nonetheless. It stays within the average computer specs and in doing so there is hardly any latency lag and framerate lag as well. It's made to be a pvp centric game based on it's original product.
The only real downside about WoW to me personally is the fact it's PvP centric and that it has a very limited number of classes/races. I like doing PvP some, but just not all the time. Plus I like to play various classes like monk and the like. So for the majority i think this is a great game overall. I don't mind playing it until something more traditional comes along. ie. Lejendary Adventures,Hero's Journey or D&D Online.
The game play is simplistic and easy to follow. I'm tired of the insane level grind required from most other MMO's; I find WoW to be a nice diversion from the norm of the industry. It isn't the greatest game but for some reason, which is eluding me, I find it...fun. Go figure huh.
Originally posted by firemagic I play WoW for the same reason several hundred thousand other people play it: It's the most fun traditional-style MMORPG ever. The fact that elitist "old school" "hardcore" 40-something failed accountants are repelled by it is also a bonus.
Hey Im one of them and I love it
In fact the reputation WoW has as a beginner/kids MMO is thouroughly underserved in my opinion. I have found the game overall to be no simpler than EQ2 and in some ways its is far more complex (pets for example). The Roleplaying on the RP servers of WoW is much more mature than in EQ2 and overall Im just finding the whole game a lot more fun than EQ2. But its not a contest...

Many people flame WoW for being too easy, too simple. As I always say, its as easy as you make it to be. If in EQ you would have to spend 2 months getting to maximum level (no AAs) and in WoW you could do that in 3 weeks then does it make WoW easier? In my opinion, no. Its faster, but not easier. If it was easier (and most players get tired of easy games fast) then judging by that logic, next games that come out should be even more time-consuming, taking for 4-5 or more months to get to the top level.
Graphics are ok, not beautifull nor ugly. Content is rich. Gameplay is awesome. The only thing that is missing is faster development (fix those servers people scream about) and id realy love to see more content on global scape - DAOC conquerable keeps, armies fight each other, housing and more guild oriented content (for now guilds are usefull mostly to organize raids, share items etc).
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

What? I hope your talking about warlock pets, becuase blizzard came in and secretly nerfed our hunter pets. No more resistances(not a secret) , no more attack speeds that are different(big secret i think, i was never told) basically they are all the same. and to top it off, they said they were adding more stuff to make hunters pet's different in another patch, which means maybe another 4 or 5 months. GG blizzard. at least tell us our pets where gonna have nothing different, so i could have quit the game and not bought your crappy 80$ collectors edition.
P.S. if you dont belive me about how badly they nerfed us. check the wow hunter forums, all hell has broken loose.

Only reason I kept playing was because of friends. Which have most hit 60 and quit now >P
Don't get excited about a tax cut. It's like a mugger giving you back fare for a taxi.
Other: And I'd say its the only MMORPG out there that is actually fun to play.
On my Server (PvP) the game is far, far from being easy.

Gameplay appeals my style. I like its complexity.

My level 33 hunter does not feel nerfed at all. On the contrary, i can kill elites that are +2 levels above me.
