Will an Expansion allow vehicle operation in-game?

Yeah, the use of vehicles, kinda like in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City or San Andreas.

And once we gain this ability, will we be able to hijack ANY vehicle (from motor scooters to semis to jet liners)?

Also, will we also possess the ability to take player passengers in vehicles, an ability that so many MMOs lack?

If so, will a guild (or Corporation, or Clan, or whatever TMO calls it) get to own their own bus and ferry the members to any guild events?

If that's so, then what if the driver attempts a stunt by jumping on a jump-ramp and the bus lands on its side? Will passengers get hurt or just annoyed? Will they get to turn the bus back to its upright position somehow and repair it?

Also, I understand that in video games, driving manners aren't as well-used as in Real Life, but as there will be real players driving virtual vehicles, if some careless 12-yr-old player gets himself a new set of wheels and starts driving like I do in Vice City, and hit another player's car, how would that other player take it??? There'll probably be a system in which damaged cars have to go to a mechanic to get it repaired for a certain amount of in-game currency, so how would an accident get dealt with in TMO?

Umm.. not to be rude or be offensive but... The game was released yesterday, it's a little to early to be thinking about an expansion already. ::::35::

It's anyone's guess at this point.

Actualyl its not the development teams often think about expansions soon after or prior to release. Hell they might already be working on them.

You can probably expect melee weapons to be the priority of the first expansion as they seem to be what everyone wants. (They will NOT be in a free patch as they require extensive soundwork, animation work [interlock animations are extremely complex], as well as design and balance of skillsets)

As for vehicles, Toby has stated several times they'd be quite possible in the future. Whether they make it into the first expansion or a free update is beyond me though.

Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Melee weapons? That could be a bad move to me. There are plenty of games with that already. If they keep it simple like brass knuckles, lead pipes, and tire irons I could understand it. We aren't talking swords and such are we?

Have you watched the movies? The Matrix movies had more melee weapons than they did uh ....HACKING? I mean Hacking is in MXO and it was not once present in the movies. Melee weapons WILL be in the game, they /belong/ in the game. This doesnt mean youll be seeing Broadsword of Enlightement +3 INT or some bullshit like that.

It'll all be wire-fu melee weapon combat. Did you forget the whole Neo melee weapon scene? Morpheus' katana? Regardless if these are two distinct points in the movies that make use ofm elee weapons thats much more than what can be said for hacking.

What's wrong if they add Katana's and Kendo discipline to go with it? Stuff like that..

Um, YES, I watched the movies. Did you read my other post mentioning Morpheus using a katana and no it doesn't belong there. It belonged in the movie for effect, it was a mansion. There wasn't people running around the streets carrying melee weapons, it supposed to be happening while normal society goes on. So as far as I see it what I originally said stands.

Brass knuckles, lead pipes, baseball bats, tire irons, and things of that nature only. Other then that it does not belong in the game, its going to get cheesy as hell if you have people running around with the weapons your referring too from the movie.

Whatever im not arguing -- there WILL be melee weapons, you don't even play the game so theres no point discussing it. You'll see katanas and whatnot in the future at some point, not sure what kinds of weapons besides that. (BTW even if you did play it theres still no point discussing it because they'll end up in the game at some point anyways.)

What happened to you sygmas? why are you so stressed out now for every single post you.. post?

Why wouldn't they release melee weapons? And why would they limit it to bats and pipes and the like. This game needs all the content it can get.

  • jackman1118jackman1118 Member Posts: 288
you know, im starting to like the idea of melee weapons. espicially if they were a whole branch of abilities, like gunman but instead be melee master or something cool like that.
  • Wharg0ulWharg0ul Member Posts: 4,183

I've been a fan of the melee weapon idea myself. Keep it simple, along the lines of polular MA weapons (nunchaku would OWN!), and things you could pick up off the ground naturally....sticks, pipe, etc.

Vehicles would take a lot of work to do right. Maybe bad driving/speeding/etc would attract agents?

AND.....an OPTIONAL first-person view. My biggest gripe about MxO. Hyper-jump in FP view....ahhhh!!!

    back to the game....

I don't really think the addition of swords would neccesarily be cheesy. I mean, it's really no different than the legions of players running around in black trenchcoats already. Who cares if they're carrying swords as well?

  • Wharg0ulWharg0ul Member Posts: 4,183

actually, you'll find people walking around in many differant colors of trench-coats. You'll also see people in their under-wear. Often, you'll see people in shorts and t-shirts.

Get off it. I see more black trench-coats in my RL town every day than I do in MxO.

Of course, this may change once people get to lvl 21 and start getting to Stamos...

But so far none of the really good buff clothing has been a black trench-coat. Therefore, you won't see as many as you would like to claim.

    I don't even have a coat :(
