SordalSordal Member Posts: 23

So i found this game and it looks very promising and alot of fun. But from what Ive seen its only in europe, so is there any news of a USA release?

Also i noticed that there is stealing in the game, just curious on how that works. thanks!

I don't play this title largely due to the fact that there are just as many negative things to read about it as positive ones.  Therefore, if I ever decide to play it will be at least six months down the road.  Anyway, as far as I know plenty of US players play this game (or at least attempt to).  I don't believe it is limited to Europe in any way shape or form.

As far as stealing goes I can't give you the facts since I don't play.  Everything I know is just hearsay and I don't want to slam something I have never even tried.

Let the Europeans beta test the game for the next year counting now..and then ask for a release in USA

This is wise, but to the other two, the game has already released and it doesn't matter what side of the atlantic you are on. You're all on the same server.

Stealing was taken out until they can make it work, because during beta it was just NOT fun to deal with. The only people that miss it are the theives themselves, and only because it let them be major asshats. There was no such thing as an honroable thief, they would jack you and then run their foul mouths into the ground. Pure jackasses.

How it worked was that you use a skill called 'pilfer' to look into another person's inventory, and if your skill isn't high enough they will see a text message of you doing it, as well as if you are caught trying to yank something out of it. All you can do to stop them is push them away and attempt to call the guards if the push flags them as a criminal, but if the message didn't appear because they had high enough skills in it, they will not flag, and there's nothing you can do about it. if you choose to attack them after stealing from you, they just call the guards on you instead. It was just wide open for abuse, and especially if you consider that you can wedge into geometry so that you cannot be pushed, and therefore flagged.

I've never met more assholes in one game in my entire life, and I am damn sure the removal of it until they can moderate the bullshit has made them run off to something else for the meantime - but they will be back.

There's only one server right now (it's in Sweden), but the game is open to NA players as well (I'm one).  Even with the distance, performance has been fine for me.

Thieving is not currently in the game, though they do have plans to put it back into the game in the near future.  It had been in the game during part of beta testing, but they needed to rework/rebalance it before they put it in the released version of the game.

The game has its bugs, and the server is still not 100% stable (though both have improved since launch), but I think it is defnitely playable, and I find it to be a lot of fun.

    Hope this helps.

From what I hear, the plan is to release another continent eventually and that continent will be hosted on a North American server. So the Europeans will have their favorable continent and the North Americans will have their favorable continent.

That is probably a while away though. Since the current server is unstable and the game needs a lot of content added.

Thieving is not in the game right now, but will be brought back when fixed, as some previous posters posted about.

I think ill wait for an NA release any suggestions on games that are just as open and 'sandboxy' to pass the time. Ive gone back to playing UO on freeshards but the populations are pretty low most of the time.

This isn't entirely accurate.  There were a few possible results from a pilfer attempt:

    1)  The item is stolen and the thief is locally flagged (i.e. they are still blue but if someone attacks them [not pushes]..they will turn grey and can be guard killed or attacked.

    2)  The item isn't stolen and the thief is locally flagged.

    3)  The item is stolen and the thief is flagged grey and can be guard killed or attacked.

Regardless of the result, a thief could ALWAYS be attacked if they tried to pilfer an item.  The issue is that most people didn't quite understand how the pilfering mechanics worked and it worked against them.  First a player would have to snoop their targets backpack.  Sometimes it would inform the player that their backpack was being snooped and sometimes it would not.  Then there would be a delay (between 6-10s, can't remember) before the player could pilfer an item from the backpack.

It was pretty easy to identify theives because they were usually naked.  Also, some people thought the system was horribly broken out of ignorance as well.   There used to be a bug (not sure if its still around) where if you were locally flagged...you could guard yourself by calling guards three times and the guard would kill you but you would ressurect a moment later at a priest completely blue.  Then the person you stole from would assume you were locally flagged and attack you (trying to turn you grey) but it would turn them grey instead (because you were actually completely blue).

I would generally explain these things to my targets after they made a mistake so they wouldn't make it again.  Not every thief was an asshole. :)

Your forgot one problem that thief had when they was implemented. 0 risk vs loot reward. If they implement thief again, they need to make them buy an item in order to steal. Also, stealing in town just ruin everything. When you are in a town, you only ask for a good time to past while chatting or even go AFK. Thief just ruin the RP atmosphere because players will constatly watch their back to see players snooping animation and see if they gonna steal. Its nearly impossible to buy something when a thief is around.

Thief should either never get implemented in game again or should have an high risk. Like forcing players to buy an item to steal or adding a huge penalty like if you fail at stealing way too much, you become a criminal. red. They have to bring fear to the thief in order to make them stop. Back then, thief had their hands cut. In mortal online, you die and wait for 2 minutes timer and you steal again.

You'll be waiting a long time.

It's a one world model, like Eve.  They don't intend to open up a second server.  Ping is fine from the US, no need for a US server; especially with the way most of the mechanics work.  It's not a fullblown twitch based game, were whoever clicks the button fastest wins.

Starvault already said they had a NA based server ready to go... are you saying they were lying?

PS - They cant make another server as the one they have right now is completely empty with everyone leaving due to bugs and incomplete/broken content.

Why do you lie? SV have never said that.

You don't play so you don't know how many that are playing the game. Yesterday, it was lots of people playing. Good also that SV have made depleatable resources, so people have to go more far away from the towns. SV have also fixed lots of bugs and polished the game further just the last couple of weeks. I have lots of fun playing it.

Please link to your sources where SV state that an NA server is ready to go?

prove it and I will eat my hat

They said they were going to have each continents servers based on a different continent in real life, so americans would get there own server when the next continent is opened up. meaning everyone reamins in the same world.

You may want to try Darkfall.
