Can I really play this being 36 and all?

And I hope that Square-Enix decides to have 30 or 60 days game cards with this game since I never use credit cards online and thats what put me off Final Fantasy XI.

No, everyone knows that old people lose all gaming ability at the age of 25.

I don't really understand the question.  Why would being 36 mean you can't play FFXIV?

And I don't think any info has been released about offering time cards yet, but probably not.

I'm 30 but I look 22 so I'm ok ;) Nah but really...funny about the other post, at 25 my dedication to gaming kinda did slump. Honestly do you have time to play it? If so, then do it. Do you play consoles also? If so then it's the same thing just with a monthly fee and it is a PC instead. If you enjoy gaming, still, then keep on playing of course. Just buy the game and give it 2 months and see how you feel after then. My friends grandpa still games. He always has played PC rpg's since they came out. If gaming is a hobby then hell ya...confinue. Just make sure you still dedicate yourself to other things in life. Being 36 you cannot stay up all night I am sure, like me, because of other responsiblities. If we were 18 it would be a different story. I have it pre-ordered and I am totally playing it. Just see how many hours you can set aside each week. I am going for, at least, an hour a day or just 1-2 days where I play for a few hours. I still only need about 6 hours of sleep a night so that helps me out with my gaming.

You should probably run for Senate rather than playing a jrpg online, but sure! I'm playing too and I'll see the big 30 next spring.

I'm 50 maybe that explains my hatred of MMO's these days, especially WoW!  Playing "old" games > LotRO, AoC, EvE Online, Fallen Earth....are thier anymore I should be aware of?

  • PallytimePallytime Member Posts: 109

Why is AoC considered an old game?

Probably because it's given gamers so many grey hairs since it launched. ;P

Ah, and i was blaming my age (42) for those grey hairs, but it was Conan's age that gave me grey hairs,,,

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Now that I think about it, after the first 20 levels in that game. I actually felt myself getting older while I was trying to find some content hidden under a rock.

    Oh snap.

Well, usually Square-Enix doesn't make time cards for their game. However, there is a way around this.

Most Walmarts carry prepaid Visa cards. You could get one of these and just load the money onto the card each month. That way, you can avoid the problems with credit cards but still have access to the game. Thats what I did for FFXI and SWG, and what I do for Aion.

The card only costs 3 dollars and the minimum reload is 20. So you load for 2 months and have almost enough for a 3rd month. There is a 3 dollar reloading fee, but its better than paying interest and fees on a normal credit card.

I personally would like to see SE come out with prepaid cards, but I dont think its going to happen.

if the OP meant will he be adrift in a sea of kids, i'd be willing to bet that ffxiv's average age will skew a bit older than people think.

Who uses credit to pay for a subscription when debit is an option?

Plus, how can anyone over 30 be too old for a game, and yet still not internet savvy enough to drop the fear of putting your CC numbers into a window?

I think that it's the internet savvy people that knows about the dangers of putting your credit card information on the internet.

Sticking to my current use of prepaid credit cards for online transactions.  I usually keep a maximum balance of 100$ on it to cover a few months of gaming at a time.

The recent overcharge fiascos by Mythic, for example, are why people should be doing the same.

Unless you feel INCREDIBLY self conceous, age is no limit. Heck isnt  the average age of gamers about 30? That will only rise as you age cos people DONT stop gaming you know.... so soon we will have a generation of 50yo gamers when all the 30yo gamers turn 50 in 20 years time...

Im 30 also and my gaming did slump once i hit mid through 26, but that was more because of the lack of creativity in games from beggining to end. I havent played a game hardcore in a while. Honestly ive only played 3 games hardcore, FFXI, SWG, AOC. everything else ive played only got a few months of my time at best.
