I simply want to know if there is a web site that offers some lore on FFXIV? and secondly, I want to know which class is going to be the buffer one, they don't really say on the main website. I really can't tell between the conjurer or thaumaturge both seem like they could do it.
Thanks

As far as I'm aware, the main website is your best bet when it comes to lore.
As for which class is going to buff, Conjurer has some buffing spells while Thaumaturge focuses on weakening the monsters.
I wouldn't say Conjurer is a true buffer however, I think we'll see that kind of class introduced in the near future.. if not by release, shortly afterwards.
Some classes have buffing abilities already though. For example Lancer has "Speed Surge" (iirc) that increases the stamina gauge regeneration rate for the LNC and gives a HP regen to anyone hitting the same monster as him.
You could have asked this in the Information thread I made though, so it's all in one place.. can't help it I guess.
Wow you fast lol, I just had time to read the entire information post that you did! so yeah the main lore is on the website but I guess there isnt that much yet right?
Thanks
Not much aside from that yeah.
FF games are always very story driven, so giving away to much of the lore in advance would probably spoil a big part of the game. The official site mainly tries to give you a setting, create an atmosphere (next to giving some basic info of course).
All is revealed in due time.
EDIT: this link will provide you with the collected lore of what's known so far on the world, it's people, etc.
I love my RPG's this way where the history reveals itself in the quests and from the people i meet in my travels... Discovering the Lore ingame is very important for me.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
one reason I loved FFXI
Sadly Playonline stopped me from resubbing since I could not remember obscure and random codes.
just glad FFXIV is not using playonline

I loved how they put so much effort into keeping the lore and story consistent.
There was once a thread where players discussed the contradictions in the story and lore.. I think they found maybe one contradiction in all of the lore and story put into the game? I think that's amazing.
If there's one thing where XIV will deliver, it's the lore and story. Although I can't stop admiring the art style as well. Especially the fact that females wear real armor and aren't equipped with D size boobs.
It's a matter of good taste.
So you're saying that Squeenix didn't get the memo that less armor for a female character obviously provides more protection in every way. Obviously having 95% of your body exposed in combat is much better than wearing something like plate armor. Pfft.
I think they just have an extraordinary amount of women in the team.. which may not agree with us men
Theres a little bit of backstory on the official site about the nations and the races, however I believe most of the lore will play out during the game. As has already been said, FF games are story driven. FFXI was, even though many people tried to overlook it in order to get to the end-game. I believe this game will be much more story driven, due to voiced cutscenes and such as that.

Lol honestly I'm on your side. Always kind of takes me out of the game a bit when I see two players with the exact same gear, but the female is barely in anything and the male is "blinged" out head to toe. A more realistic art style will be a welcomed change for me.
That's one feature that I'm really glad they added, if it's done correctly. Almost nothing can kill immersion more than having a terrible voice actor.
I 100% agree with you. With SE, I'm a little iffy on it (I'm looking at you Final Fantasy X) but they have come a long way since then. FFXIII had good voice acting, and FFXII wasn't bad either. I'm hoping they really give us the sense of immersion that we're looking for, and as you stated, good voice overs will make that even better.

Well the time it took for players to get to the next level of the story was so long that you forgot there was actually something in FFXI. Sure when I played subclasses in static groups it only took 2 weeks to hit 40 but the first time around took me almost 2 months, so i never noticed the story.
Actually its DD sized breasts. Just Ds don't work because the swords can still get to the body, but with DD breasts, and a 3 millimeter wide body, there is no way u can get to the body without cutting the breasts off first. Therefor, only the breasts need armor. It's perfectly logical...
Wow, it all makes sense now.
