I received a notification from play.com that now they offer the limited and standard edition of FFXIV and to my surprise the price of the standard one is very low.
Here:
http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/15453909/Final-Fantasy-XIV/Product.html
Standard box price € 32.49
http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/15693250/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Limited-Collector-Edition/Product.html
Limited Edition price € 64.99
Now I am contemplating which of the 2 should I buy because usually the standard box costs on € 40-50 while FFXIV is only € 32.
I'm 95% sure it's not a price error from the site because I bought a lot of games from the site and never seen them making errors on the pricing.
I'm more inclined to the limited edition because of the extra security token but if the standard one will also have one I don't really need the art books, ecc I just want that extra security.
What do you think people?

Prices aren't exactly finalized yet. There's most likely a little note at the end of the confirmation email they send you that says prices are subject to change.
But it looks about even with the American prices, with a slight variation of a dollar or two, depending on the retailer.
Nope here's what was wrote in the email:
"Dear Customer,

I suppose it depends from dealer to dealer, but most of them should have some kind of price adjustment stipulation.
Amazon for example:
Our Pre-order Price Guarantee covers one or more item(s) in this order. If the Amazon.ca price decreases between the time you place your order and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price.
Though a price increase isn't likely, as SE sets a standard wholesale value and leaves it to the dealers for retail value, they're usually within a couple dollar/Euros of each other. The margin on new games isn't all that high really. Amazon tends to start higher then most, but then usually lowers it to match other retailers near release. $79 at Amazon, $74 at Gamestop right now (Canadian). $79CAD btw, is £49.99 at the current dollar values.
So lets hope every retailer starts lowering prices so we can all pay less :P
I think it's more of a tactic since the ps3 version will be delayed some people will buy the pc version play it on pc then when ps3 version is out they will continue on their consoles.
it's listed on Best Buy and Amazon for the standard price of $49.99 and it doesn't list any features like security tokens or anything like that.
You get an in-game item for preordering the standard edition, as well as first month for free which is a given.
So people who pre order the standard version won't have a head start at least of 2 days instead of 6, won't get an authenticator and I can't see from play.com if they are selling it separately....
Usually a pre order gives more then 1 bonus than people that buy it on release.
amazon (the .co.uk version) are selling the CE version for £39.99 canceled my play.com order.

I look for them to add more goodies as it gets closer to /Launch!
Play are actually the most expensive place to buy XIV from at the moment. I've got the CE on preorder with Game for £39.99 and they guarantee the price at the time you preorder. If the price goes up you still only pay £39.99.
It's odd to see Play £10 more expensive... they're usually one of the cheapest.
