Lotro is always a good alternative.

Nothing better than paying for quests.

You could try out Eve-Online, AoC, heck just click on the 'Game List' tab and find a game you'll like.

Age of Conan, if you like raiding or RPG or prefer that type of game.

EVE Online - if you want to try something new and want a long-term commitment.

I just started on AoC again, and i have a blast, if you can get along with the heavy instancing its fine. And on european servers the population on the few servers are VERY healthy.

    Playing: AoC
Played: WoW, GW, DF, VG, Runescape, LoTRO, AoC

Actually, the populations on the Crom server (PvE) and the Fury server (PvP) are the largest. Usually the Crom server had something about three times the active players online that a Aquilonia or Hyrkania server have.

I actually really like the AoC quests.  Written by Nevermore66 in the main and the design stops me thinking kill5 or these, 10 of these, which is one of the reasons I couldn't ever get into WOW.

Lotro main quest line is good though.

Well, the main games that offer a similar experience to WoW are EQ2, LoTRO, AoC and AION.  I played all 4.

    Of those 4:

EQ2 has the best PvE, the most quests and the best raiding.  It has terrible setting and lore, little world interaction and bad pvp.  EQ2 has by far the most PvE content of any of these games.

LoTRO has the best setting, RP and story.  It has good solo and group PvE, little PvP (cool idea imo, but most people don't like it).  I never got to the engame in LoTRO but hear there isn't a lot to it.

AoC has the best graphics, coolest classes, excellent art design and a pretty good story/setting.  It also has both open-world (on special servers) as well as siege (all servers) pvp.  It has good PvE raids, but there aren't that many of them.

AION is a mind-numbing grindfest in PvE, but it has asian-looking graphics, so if that's your thing, you may enjoy.  It has interesting 2-faction PvP that's pretty fun, unfortunately the PvE is terrible and seems to exist just to get people to higher PvP levels.

So depending on what's more important to you, pick from the above.  Overall, they're all pretty similar in what type of experience they deliver.

There are of course other games out there that are excellent and deliver a different type of experience (EVE, etc.)

LotRO, EQ2 are in the same style as WoW. Maybe Eve or AoC. SWTOR will be out in a year along with more choices.

Don't start this drama again. If you want to play a new game, just ask so. We don't care why you quit WoW.

Anyway, AoC seems very good lately. Lotro is great, though I have no idea what the new free version will be like. And WAR....well.....its free in Tier 1, which is the place to be imo. Can't go wrong with that one either :).

EDIT: I'd also like to suggest the LFGame forum? Plenty (Almost too much) info there.
