A brand new relationship system will be introduced with the upcoming v3.0.3 patch. Family, friendship and marriage relationships can be entered into, with in game bonuses as the reward. Bonuses come in the form of stat enhancement when paired players are grouped together as well as a bonus given to your partner should health fall below a certain level.
Lovers are at the centre of this new feature: players can now get engaged by sending a Love Letter, and finally even marry one another. Frogster will provide the two lovebirds, whether they are straight, gay or lesbian, all the necessary decorum for such an important event. The union of marriage can then be celebrated in a romantic new wedding chapel, where they are going to walk down the aisle in one of two new wedding suits and exchange rings in front of all their friends and guild members.
Apparently ditching your relations is easy too. Simply delete them from the relationships panel. No muss. No fuss.

Why do we need this?? How about more races and classes first!
They would add this mess instead of adding the rest of the weapon types that still isnt in the game. But there skill bars are there. I still waiting for them to add in guns to make use of the gun skill bar that listed.
Couples rejoice, you get to now feel the pain of marriage in game prior to actually getting the knot tied!
I'm free on Friday.
Ok, seriously, MMORPG.com, can you get a copy editor to check for the presence of links BEFORE you publish these?
Not just another pretty color.
I wonder if divorce lawyer is a proffession in the game? Cause if it isn't now it certainly needs to be after this!
Knowing this patch was comming resulted in my, and my wifes dropping our participation in this game.We have both moved on to AOC.

Now this is how marriage should be handled. This could be the first crossover of standard setting from game world to real life.
I don't know much about this game except that it's F2P...is it even stable and balanced enough to warrant the inclusion of such petty add-ons? Usually, when a game introduces these these things the soul the company is seeing more Cash Shop/Item Mall opportunities...not that I'm against it, they do have to make money because it's what keeps the game alive financially. But have other necessary improvements come first?
Oops...ignore me, I massively typo'd. I meant to say, " Usually, when a game introduces these things the soul purpose is that the company is seeing more Cash Shop/Item Mall opportunities..." **goes to look for more coffee** ;-)
You missed the big yellow letters that say read more at the Runes of Magic site above the image? The information is there.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's a Firefox thing, at least for me. Ad Block or something is stopping links from being seen in any of these articles lately. I have not been able to see a link in mmorpg.com articles in a week or two. I haven't tried to fix it by toying with firefox at all, but the issue started recently.
Bet that have not fixed the old broken features before adding this completely useless new one.
If we fail to change the things of today, they will become the lucid nighmares of tommorrow.
+1
im not getting ingame married until they implement a divorce feature too!
Yeah, great way to split that rare armour set you've been keeping all this time.
It's sounds like RoM is taking in too many features. I can barely keep planting, crafting, pet training and leveling...-.-
Pft, most the time it's going to be two dudes getting married. One that is a guy in male character, and one is a guy in female character...
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
"gay or lesbian"......as if there is a difference, lesbians ARE gay
This is a really, really bad idea on so many levels.
I wonder if changing the link color might help? I'll try it this upcoming week and see if it helps. It's weird though. I use the latest version of Firefox and I see the links. Either way, I'll give it a font color change to blue or something and see if it helps.
But I'll be it's because pop ups are blocked on your Tools settings. All links are targeted to open in new windows. If pop ups are blocked, they probably -don't- show up. It's a simple fix though if you want it. Just go to Tools ---> Content ---> Pop Ups ---> and add MMORPG.com as an exception

The issue is not from FireFox. Chrome with ad block has it too. It's an ad block issue.

I just deleted the game from my computer because of this nonsense.
God made Adam and Eve...not Adam and Steve.
This is a great thing for RPers,a terrible thing for homophobes and jsut a meh thing for the rest of us.
First game to allow homosexual marriage ; LOVE IT! :]
PS - All mammals have nipples.
Get over it already.
Man ROM had so much potential, all it needed was a top notch developer.I have always liked the idea of a relationship, marriage, family ssystem, but for some reason Asian devs, especially F2P ones, like to do everything on a cheap scale. They are going to give bonuses for marriage? That is not a game system, that is no better than giving out bonus xp weekends or anything similar. There shoudl be a family system, where by players eventually die then offspring inherit traits and abilities, that would garner some respect as a nicely done system, but this smells of cheap.
ROM also has the sub job system, but again, little hought and implemented poorly, the stat system is another great idea, but is surrounded by cash shop,so again a fail, such a great potential of a game, but mickey mouse developers, ruined this one.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
All this is, is another way for them to add items to the CS. It shows how much they care about adding deep gameplay and more about ways to get your money. I wanted to come back so bad but withought all of the weapons, skills and (atleast 2 more races) still not in the game i guess i will have to wait longer than expected.
maybe it's just me, but i think a marrage system in a MMO is the most useless thing ever. "buy the new couples mount!! only 700 diamonds!"
