You see FFXIV takes place in the future way after FFXI where the Galka have been reproducing asexually for so long that the repeating genes have started leading to deformitiys including the loss of their tails.
If that helps you cope with tail loss then go for it , but yeah I made it all up..

That's the kind of post i've been looking for on this thread.
The only FF that isn't different from another ff game. Kinda sad. It was always a different setting for every ff game. Why did they choose to make a copy of FFXI.

Different world, same races.
FFX-FFXII?
Did you even played those games? The world and species are totally different. Where are the Viera or bangaa in FFX? The setting of these games are different as with all other ff games. FFXIV is becoming an exception sadly.

FFXI & FFXIV = FFX & FFXIII.
Same dev team, same style, yet different enough. XIV is no "exception".
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

The setting for FF12 wasnt different at all, it was exactly the same as FFTA1+2s world.
Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling" Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.

I'm talking about the serie. You know FF I till XIII. Every part of the serie had it's own unique world and characters. When I look at the characters of FFXIV I see FFXI characters in better graphics.

Just like in FFX and FFXIII.
Except in these games, you had no choice to decide whether you looked different or the same.

FFX and FFXIII are different, a lot. Or do you mean the same as in all human characters. That would make it the same with the majority of rpg games then. However when you put unique playable species in a game, you can't put them in another one and call that one an unique ff game experience, different from the other.
Just look at the tittle of the topic. Where did Galka's tail go. Or that other post (I'm still gonna call the chars by their old name). This wasn't supposed to be FFXI - 2 but a whole new ff game.

the way i see it:
the 2 FF mmos are sub series that got more in common than standard FF game

No, the art style is the same, just like with XI and XIV. The protagonists are different, yet you could still switch Lightning to X and Tidus to XIII and nothing would change.
Just like in XIV you can make a character that looks nothing like anything in XI, OR you can make a character that does. The difference is that in X and XIII you don't get to choose.
Hell, if you are so shallow that the visuals determine how "unique" the FF experience is, I pity you. It's like saying WoW is not a unique Warcraft experience because the visual style and races are the same in WC3.
Gameplay doesn't matter, right? It's just a game anyway, we must look at the graphics.
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".
There are no galka in FFXIV, so you can't make one, and the don't have a tail.
I don't care what they chose to call them in this game, because I will be saying "galka, mithra and taru" until the servers go down.
As will I, truth be told, I don'e even know the new names. Just figured stupid question stupid answer. Guy with the tail falling off from a long time of asexual reproduction definitely wins though.

Wow is not supposed to be different and an unique experience from warcraft series. Wow is a continuity of the series. Is FFXIV a continuity of FFXI?
Why am I shallow if I consider the design of characters and the world important? FF games always excelled when it comes to this and it helped telling the story.
You can't just put donkeys and pigs as playable characters and say don't be shallow, gameplay matters.
Anyway I'm not gonna reply anymore, don't wanna start another flame war alla jumping, mouse thing. It's just that I really wanted a whole new look for a new FF mmorpg game. There are many FF fans that didn't really liked FFXI.

FFXIV is a continuity of the FF series, yes. Just like WoW is a continuity of the Warcraft series.
You are shallow because you put too much emphasis to things like that. FF games also never changed their gameplay before the last decade and every game was pretty much a carbon copy of the other with maybe new art style and world, with little gimmicks and a new card game (!!).
But that is exactly why many FF fans didn't like FFXI. They changed the ancient gameplay. They changed it to an MMORPG.
Change is bad.
Change is scary.
And I guess what was very iconic to the series back then was that they didn't change. Put on new paint and story and call it a day.
That's exactly what the gaming industry needs. In this age of constant change and when no company milks their franchise with almost yearly sequels, we need a game that throws innovation away! WE'VE HAD ENOUGH, COMPANIES!
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".
Ok, yes the Races are SIMILAR, but the worlds and lore are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
FFXI takes place on the land of Vana' diel...it had its three nations(Windhurst, Bastok, and Sand'Oria) and it had its own background
FFXIV takes place in the land of Eorzea...it's an entirely new world. New map, new characters, new everything. You won't find the likes of Shantotto or Aht Urghan or anything here.
FOR THE LAST FREAKING TIME, FFXIV IS NOT A DIRECT SEQUEL TO FFXI. It's an entirely new MMO.
Christ, even the staff writers here have been fucking this up.

There are no galka in FFXIV, so you can't make one, and the don't have a tail.
I thought Roegadyn was Galka spelled backwards or something, because I swear they look identical. - the extremity.
It is a different game.
Yeah, they are all the same thing, more or less, but just like visual tweaks with each race, they took the tail off.
Just part of the updated model.
