I have read a lot about the leveling process, and there is a lot that i can't visualize correctly because there are to much assumptions in my story.
I know that my current class gets choosen by the weapon/tool i have in my hands. I start earning XP for that class when i equip that weapon/tool.
Questions:
-When i equip another weapon do my stats and traits get set for the new discipline.... (or is there just general stats and traits that go for all my classes, and does the stats of a certain class only improve with the armor i equip for that class) (Or do i have different stats for only the 4 main discipline groups)
-When i equip a weapon does the armor also change to the new discipline ? (Or does that require manuall actions or scripting)
-When i have all mellee armor and mellee weapon Do i have access to the spells and abbilities from my other disciplines or do i need to equip certain armor parts to have access to these spells? (or will my magic be just futile when i don't wear the right armor)
-Will my level/power in a certain discipline be based on my weapon/level or on the combination of armor that i wear. (when i equip a low level armor part, will this make my level drop?) (imagine a level 15 pugilist equip a staff [and armor] to turn intoo a level 30 conjurer and save the party from doom)
(i am sure more Questions will arise as soon as i get these answered.)

I wish you would use the thread I made to ask these questions, now all the info is kinda scattered around and hard to find
Anyway...
Stats are universal, aside from HP and MP which go up as your Class Rank goes up.
We don't know much about Traits yet, except that they will be implemented. Currently there is only the template for Traits.
Armor doesn't change when you switch classes right now. In the future you can script it, but in XI at least there was a "memory" that remembered your armor for the class and you didnt have to re-equip them. I'd assume something like that will be implemented. Should be good for skills too.
Armor has no effect on what spells or skills you can equip, but if you equip a hat with Intelligence+10 instead of strength+10 your melee skills will obviously be weaker.
Armor has great effect on your endurance, your class rank has great effect on your strength against monsters, and physical level kinda helps both a bit. Or so I'd assume.
There is a consolidated Q&A post on these kinda questions

Here's my concern; I may have stated this before but I'm really tired right now and can't remember.
You're a level capped conj, using only your staff, or lets even say that you dabbled with the other caster classes on the way up. You cast spells like a pro, no one is better than you. One day you wake up and decide, you know what? I'd love to give tanking a try. To my understanding the second you equip that sword to switch to a guardian, you will just be a mage with a sword and board with no clue what to do with it (because you're at the level cap but have 0 skill with a sword). Is there a system in place at all to help these kind of people catch back up to the curve? I mean who's going to want a tank that's @ the level cap who doesn't even have tanking abilities? From what I've read so far there's no form of level syncing or anything in the game as of right now, but that may still be under NDA, or would you just have to go out and start grinding guild leves in order to work on your sword skill?
You are not at the level cap.
Physical level has less impact on your overall performance than you think. It's more like a boost to your performance and not the deciding factor.
Your class rank (in this case, rank 1 since you changed from mage to melee) and armor+weapon (in this case low level armor, because it is dependent on mainly class rank although phys. level may also be a factor) decide how effective you'll be in combat. Your HP and MP are also linked to your class rank, so with 100hp and mp you won't be killing dragons.
Oh okay, so it's very similar to the XI system. I guess when I read about it initially I didn't understand it fully.
Thats the main reason i asked those questions, there are just to many things not clear from reading the FAQ. or Wiki's on the web
