This is not a flame. . . . it is a serious question.  Do guilds etc. actually form around this premise?   Have you seen this in any other game?  I suppose it makes sense to a degree.  I am truly just wondering.

There are LGBT guilds in pretty much every MMO i've played. I've never understood it though, it's not as though i'd ask if a guild is heterosexual before joining. But then, there's lots that i don't understand in this world anyway :)

Yup they sure do. The biggest example I can think of is on the Proudmoore server in WoW. That whole server's full of gay guilds of all kinds.

Asura on FFXI used to have one called Moogle...something, I forgot.

It is not uncommon for a guild of people who are tired of the "that's sooo gay" comments, or "I don't have a problem as long as you don't hit on me or my children" stereotype, or just like making friends with whom they don't have to worry about being in the closet around, to band together.

    ^^

Edit: In fact it's not uncommon for guilds to form around any specific premise. FFXI beta had one called Kitty Pride made of just Mithras. WoW-Uldaman had one called "Boy and the Ghost", named after some cheesy song, and for fans of the group (I played WoW and FFXI tons :) ).

Yeah I guess that makes sense if you are hoping to surround yourself with more people to chat with about yourself personally. . which I guess would be the point.  Sort of freeing I would imagine.

Best of luck!  I won't derail this anymore :)

Feel free to join Prophecy, as we accept all kinds of members and don't discriminate in any way. Even though I am straight, I spent a few months in a LGBT guild while playing Vanguard and they were a great group of people to just chill out and play the game with. Let me know if you're interested!

    First post... wow... LOL

I am the GM of a LGBT&A guild that is forming from members of the gaygamer.net forum and will be accepting applicants shortly from other forums. We are currently testing our forums and have about 150 interested individuals from GG.net. You are welcome to sent me an email to mocarth at kupoknights . net (remove spaces and place @ sign) and I will add you to a list of potential members.

I think its great to have LGBT guilds, although being a homosexual I think theres enough hate and discrimination that makes having guilds like this justifiable.  I think the thing I strive for the most is to keep sexual orientation casual and friendly meaning no barriers that exclude one from another. This is the best way I think that keeps people from geting hurt and keeps things fun.  Remember the only people being left out in a LGBT guild are those that are racisist when it comes to sexual orientation.  Thats why there made in the first place.  Its not because people don't want to be apart of the hetro orientation.

With that said I still need to get me a new laptop to be able to run the massive system hog that is FFXIV.

Thank you for your interest in Lux Nocturna. Lux Nocturna is a linkshell being formed for the game Final Fantasy XIV. Our current group is comprised of friends from a previous linkshell in Final Fantasy XI, on the Bismarck server, along with new blood. We are organizing our new linkshell in advanced to the release of XIV so we can all explore and experience Eorzea and Hydaelyn together.

However, we aren’t just limiting ourselves to current members. Like any guild or linkshell, we need new members so we can partake in quests or missions. Not only that but we want to adventure together and create new friendships through our experiences.

    Our linkshell has many aspects:

    • Role play friendly, but not strictly enforced

    • Organized group events

    • Group quest and mission progression

    • Eventual participation in end game activities

To create a back story for our group, we are slowly crafting our Lore section. Check it out!

    • Need to work on forum layout

    • Teamspeak now installed

I did actually belong in a LGBT guild in *shudders* WoW for a while. The people were a lot more generous, friendly, and willing to stop their stuff to help you catch up. Aside from those bonuses, it did feel good to be comfortable making fagulicious jokes in guildchat without people squicking. Hehe.

What is the point of an LBGT LS? What is it that you will be doing that you can't do in a regular LS?

Talk more freely and openly... and being able to be yourself without worrying about offending anyone. Plus playing with people similiar to you can be a good feeling... promoting a community feel.... for example.

To the OP... yes there very much is. I think someone might have mentioned one or two but check out gaygamers.net there is a final fantasy forum with at least one or two popular GLBT LS... so def go there and check it out. Plus its gay gamers so they talk about all sorts of video games MMOs and movies and TV :)

I was  in a guild in swg that did a Gay test, to make sure they weren't getting any gay people.

It wasn't my rule or anthing and I wasn't even aware of it until I was in the guild and heard them asking if you gave that guy the test...

I passed their test, but w/e  I left that guild. I don't like people that discriminate against somebody for that reason.

I think it is perfectly legitimate for somebody to want to be a part of a guild where they wont have to worry about being judged for who they are.

Wow, really, a "gay test". I don't even know what that would entail but I'm sure it's full of ignorance and bigotry.

Things would be a whole lot better if people quit worrying about what was going on in everyone else's bedroom.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

And thus the reason for such LS.

    I must say when I saw LGBT&A, i just saw the T&A.

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

The Rough Trade Gaming Community is the world's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and ally guild.   Tens of thousands of players across all of its games, record holder for largest guild in World of Warcraft, and also in a lot of other games including Final Fantasy XIV.

RTGC is under MagiTaint Mayhem on Gilgamesh.  Guild has easily passed that "6-month FC mark" with a steady 500 players.  You can apply at rtgc.enjin.com/ffxiv or get more info about the guild.  Always room available.
