N.E.O Online: Officially Launches

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

N.E.O. Online has officially launched in North America. The OG Planet web portal has the updated client version for download. Evil has overtaken the world of Gaia and players are charged with restoring peace or conspiring with evil to keep its terrifying reign.

As Chaos increases, players will also have the option to fight each other in one on one, group or guild battles. Guilds can also declare war upon rival guilds to determine the ownership of the land, taxing and shaping that region as they see fit. Each battle that's won provides large rewards of fame and money, and potentially specialized titles that boost their stats. Unlike other MMORPGs, some titles can only be held by one player at a time, giving bragging rights to that player. Furthermore, NPC troubadours will also recognize these individual awards and sing your praises (or curses) to all they meet, spreading your character's legend around the world.

Want to find out more? Head to the official N.E.O. Online site.

pvp with an item shop that effects pvp, you can guess this is one of those who can spend more money on your character to be good.

I was going to link to the website but then I seen your post...

No i'm just going to forget about the game completely.

I play the game and can assure you that cash shop users have a lot of advantages in pvp then normal players like:

4 slots were you can equip weapons/armor/cloths that go on your already equipped stuff..

Pots that heal 75 % hp/mp without cooldown.. Yes without cooldown while normal potions have cooldown...

Pets at least atm are only obtainable from cash shop which can fight and level..

But pvp is pretty much not forced because it's just like an event when a map reaches 100% chaos or if some jack ass pks people in open map and gets a negative count with which npcs won't interact with him and guards attack him on sight.

So despite it have all these bad things in cash shop it's still a fun game to pass some time since it's class less and skills/stats are chosen by yourself with a limit (Yes there's a limit on how many skills you can have)

My first thought was, how haven't I heard anything about this game until it released?

Then I saw it was Cash Shop and said, ah thats why.

OGPlanet hosts of EU not US. PlayOMG is the official US host...

Not that it really matters, since neither publisher uses an IP filter ;)

Was about to download this, but guess I already tried it a few months ago, youtube reminded me lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrbSqOq9RBw

They make it sound like there are a lot of options for your character, sure you can choose whatever you like but the problem is there really isn't that much to choose from, especially when it comes to equipment choices.

Basically all I remember is that I only played it for one night, found it to be fairly dated (gameplay and graphics), too slow, and just way kiddie.

  • BloodaxesBloodaxes Member EpicPosts: 4,662

Well armor is mostly for looks since they all have same starting stats just if you craft them or buy them from shops with grade tickets the armor/weapon you buy will be a random rank from F to S obviously and S is a bit hard but would be great probably.

Does anyone else wish this website would only report news on serious MMOs?

I gave this game a honest try yesterday and here are my findings.

1.The translations leave alot to be desired. There were litterly symbols mixed in with the words, making it hard to read.

2.The story was almost non-existant. What there was of it was explaned porrly or lost in translation, litterly.

3.Because of the 1st two items, trying to figure out how things worked was a matter of trial and error as that was not very clear.Took me nearly an hour to get skill books to work properly because things were not user friendly .Example- to get a skill book to work, you have to drag the skill book out of inventory, into a hot/quick slot and then click on it.This allows you to read it. Then you have to remove it from the hot slot and go into your skills tab to find the actual skill.Once you have found it, you have to drag it into a hot/quick slot to use it in combat. The instructions ,however, say you are supposed to double click the skill book but that does not work.

    4. Customization in the game is very limited. Only one race, human. You can use any weapon but can only equip one.In fact, the slot for armor and weapons were limited to 6 total. Plus you had a equal amount for stones which where supposed to change your appearance on top of adding to your stats but did not change your appearance. Not sure if they changed your stats as the bonuses were low. Had to constantly monitor my bag to make sure it did not fill up with stones I would never use.

    5. Graphics were not impressive. I had everything running on full with my machine and they were still not impressive. However, my son tried the game on his 3yr. old computer and it was so slow it was not playable. So you need a fairly new computer to run o.k. graphics? Kinda lame.

    6. Having read the pk system I figured people were not likely to be doing alot of it,however, i was only in the 5th lvl area when i saw one player that was labeled "criminal" and another hitting chickens which will make you a criminal. So a pk system that noone seems to know about is kinda useless.

    7. Low population- There was only one server and while in the beginning area of a game just luanched I saw perhaps 10 people at most the entire time there(lvls 1-4). When I moved on to the next area, I saw about the same amount. This is a really low amount when you consider one server and new game.

There you have a honest experience of the beginning stages of the game.I cannot speak for later stages as i removed the game when my son could not play it on his computer. There simply was not enough there to make me want to play it by myself.

If we fail to change the things of today, they will become the lucid nighmares of tommorrow.

I tried this game yesterday (the one from PlayOMG) and despite the terrible translation I found it a lot of fun and a really cute game. If you are experienced with RPGs or MMORPGs you should be able to figure out everything without needing to read tutorials and quest dialog anyway.

The things I like about the game include :

    - Two player mounts, not to mention a fast two player epic cow mount at lvl 1 ^^

    - Skill based characters (instead of class based)

    - Chaos system, chaos changes the map and makes enemies harder, changes the scenery, and opens up like a pvp  battleground for players.

    - Criminal system marks players criminals that kill NPCs or kill players that can't defend themselves

    - Marriage system, Allows two players to get married and they can teleport to each other with wedding rings

    - Pleasing graphics and music, the game world is pretty and polished, the music is decent

    - You can move your character by holding down the left and right buttons on the mouse, there is jumping,

    - Decent character customization (although only one race) including being able to change character height, eye color, skin color, etc.

The only thing I didn't like is the whole translation thing (although honestly it can be viewed as making the game more challenging and as a source of entertainment), but I am downloading the OGPlanet version as we speak, because I heard it has better translation. Will report back later with my findings.

Edit:: Oh  and I agree with other posters, the screen shot posted here really doesn't do the game justice. Might provide my own screen shots.

Just a quick note on this game, the client seems to crash about once every 30 minutes, so you might want to wait awhile, while they get the bugs out of the client.

I just uninstalled it myself, did not offer anything that interested me and the client constantly crashing sealed the deal.

I never disconnected in the game ever that's a problem from your end.

Now that is complete nonsense, several friends that have tried this game have had the same problem.  I just don't lose connect in other games and this one the client crashes incessantly!

They have a lot of bugs to get out of this game and it is not very good to start with.  There are far better so called free MMO's out there to spend my time on, not one that constantly crashes.

What's nonsense is you automatically assuming that because a minute fraction of the playerbase had a similar issue, that it must inherently be the games fault. A question to ask and think about is if you and your friends all have the same operating system.

I can't... It was available for the EU only through OGPlanet initially. Here's a shot of the launcher:

    image

They seem to have added it for US now as well, but it does have the EU logo behind the game :D

I don't need to lie I'm level 43 of 49 on ogplanet my character is named vincent go check it out if you don't believe me.

I NEVER got disconnected and only once got the client not responding but that was probably something from my end maybe got some update running or whatever but absolutely never got a disconnection.

The game has flaws but server stability is not one of them.

Geez if three of us are having client crash problems, others are too.  Nothing like sticking your head in the sand when someone says there is a problem.  The client definitely has issues.
