Question of Stupidity

ChopesChopes Member Posts: 297

I know this post will get me flamed by many, but I have been wondering, obviously if you have been posting here for awhile now, and know the rules and regulations of the forums, why would some of you still disobey them, as I see many "Post Deleted" images under many of the forum responses. I am not trying to insult anyone or anything of that matter, I am just wondering why...?

A little side topic, whats wrong with AO? For all those that hate it?

Because sometimes it is fun to rebel. Don't get me wrong, I have not had a post delete since December.::::39::

I dont see why it matters, no one obeys all rules in anything. Just because someone says you cant do this, doesnt mean you have to abide by that.

I dont remember the last deleted post I have had, it most have been a while ago.

As in any forum I would suspect the deletion here is far from uniform. I'd also wager that most people with deleted posts have slipped more than one or two under the radar. Many of the people here are younger, and although not true in all cases that does TEND to lend itself to immaturity - and rebellion. Repeating your mistakes being fairly common amongst everyone. Lastly.. people actually take the time to read the forum rules?

    Not I.

Then again my insults are usually thinly veiled sarcasm or something similar. I have no respect for people who can't form a sentence without using one of many red-button words, and can't convey negative feelings on a game as anything other than fact. Usually the latter is something along the lines of "This game suckz d00d!" - As if their opinion was the end-all, be-all. Just say you don't like it! It's that simple!

But I've ventured into a slightly different area than the question posed. Eh. I hope I answered your question, though.

Everyone has their own point of view on a topic and the majority of us like to express, sometimes making it personal, our opinions on it. Thats the way we are as human beings. We are individuals and we like to express it and even demostrate it. What the wierd thing about us as human beings is how we manage to come together during or after a crisis no matter what each others differences are.

Why do people go above a speed limit? Why do people steal? Why do people kill each other? Why are there rapists? Why do people break forum rules?

Because to different degrees people either feel they need to test rules, have compulsions to do bad things, do not realize they are doing something against the rules, do not really care what other people think and feel as long as they feel they have power. Take your pick for any answer of these to any question to the above. The fact of the matter is really some people should not be given free will... but, sadly, that is not up to me either.

Frankly I feel that if you have to resort to name calling, slamming, flaming, you really either do not have a good point, or are not smart enough to argue your point and therefore are not worth my time to read anything slipping down the IQ ladder anyway. Therefore I thank the board monitors for helping me make sure I do not waste my time.

Honestly I have not read the rules, however, I find it good practice to not "go off" in writting, name call and I tend to stay away from anything liable.

But people who do these things ither, do it as a mistake, which you cant really exepect to use as an excuse if you really read the forum rules.  There really is no excuse other then to get attention/be annoying which I dont see fit posting on a forum...on the internet....If you want attention do it at your own home, and discuss the topic.

On another note I agree with you that the Bord Monitors are our saviors.

Oh please don't think I find that acceptable. Also (I know this to be true) when you agree to terms and conditions of anything, whether you read them or not, you are at fault for not reading it. I'm sure most have heard that being ignorant of the law does not make "accidents" ok. I cannot recall the actual saying, it's late here. When you sign onto a board, game, etc. and you accept the terms you are entering into a binding contract, that includes rules. Even if you have not read the rules, you can be held accountable for "mistakes" that you made in posting. Frankly I would love if more people were held accountable in general. image

Not everyone's values are the same- if everyone followed the rules, this board would be no fun, right? Who cares anyway- its internet not life....

Usually I post whatever my true feelings are on the issue. I don't really pay attention to rules all that much, just let the mods deal with it if they find my post inappropriate.

YES! IM going to terrorize the world from behing my PC SCREEN!!!! HAHAH. Get over it dude, the internet for most poeple is just a place to vent what they cant do in life. Theres something called real life- and the computer forums. Your example is competely out there- spam the forum board and you might have it in you to KILL PEOPLE(which is about as logical as saying-- you play GTA3! You are breaking and laws and killing people- your going to do it in real life!!!!)!! You need to go outside more often....

Chopes is a litte out there::::12:: Can you differentiate between real life and a computer forum?

Why was my post deleted? It was referring to AO the sidetopic....

Kinda funny in a thread about posts being deleted...

One question though... If this is Not Real Life then are you my imagination? I'm pretty sure I'm alive and that I'm really here and when I close my eyes to make you go away you don't. So either I am highly schitzo and each personality has a login or there are really real people each posting a thing. It doesn't make sense for someone to say they took something personal or had real feelings to vent then say this too is not part of "real life". As far as that goes if you believe this not to be part of "real life" then there would be no real reason to post because those same people say It doesn't matter.

The bit about why not kill someone, I get that totally. Basically it is Right and Wrong are drawn out. The lines clearly marked. If any person pushes those lines at what point is it too far? In a way it is in fact like a speed limit. The limit might be 30, the general consensus may say 35 is ok. You will have the occasional person doing 40, and then your child is killed by that one person doing 45+ oh but they are a monster. Had they been doing 30 it would have been fine, and it wasn't until someone was hurt, that they crossed a line they became a monster. Same basic thing here... where do you draw the line?

I agree with you 100% on right and wrong, basicly what im trying to say is if you wouldnt do something in real life, why would you come here to do it, when others are trying to abide by the rules? I again make a parallel, If I stood in a cheese shop, where you may only talk of cheese and people were there talking to me about, lets say cheese, why would someone come in there and talk about bagels?

Note: This is just a hypothetical situation, and no I am not crazy.

I find the rules here to be quite lax compared to other boards that I read and post to.  I can't think of how anyone can accidentally disobey the rules, so to do so would have to be an intentional act.  I have no patience for anyone who posts things contrary to the rules here just to make "fun", as you put it.  Obviously enough people here care, otherwise these boards would be dead.  Rules are in place anywhere in life for a reason.  If you simply cannot follow the rules, then perhaps you have no business being here in the first place.

I find your attitude to be very sad, as it speaks volumes about your character as a human being.

True character is defined not by how you conduct yourself when you think people are watching, but how you conduct yourself when you think no one is watching.

I agree 100%, If there was a world where only you lived, would you still have morals? That is a question that I think everyoen needs to search within themselves and answer for themselves.
