I've just read about those. I remember Age of Conan did the same, bonus item if you pre-order, then it became "buy that magazine and get the code for a special promo item only obtainable that way" etc. etc.
It created an environment where people who didn't know about them or just didn't want to start spending real money left and right for those slightly game-breaking (mounts, teleport item) being at disadvantage.
How do you feel about online games (like this one it seems), who offer outside of the game means to obtain in-game items and/or advantages? And does it make you think over your decision to choose this game as your next MMO?

No it doesn't make me reconsider.
This, pretty much every game does it.
Love having the choices, so would be more likely to buy it. One thing to remember though is most the stuff is usually only good for early levels.
I don't see the item as being an influence on my decision. The only thing I care about is a game I have researched and have interest in trying giving me a chance to dive in to it. I pre-order based on interest not the sparkles sprinkled on or in the box. Now giving me a head start, that I do use as a motivation.
