LF A Game

I'm looking for a MMO if possible that meets the following description:

Deep character development, i.e. different paths for characters to progress, good character/class specific story line etc.

Excellent exploration

Open world

As close to D&D in terms of adventuring and class progression as possible

Diverse content

Not grindy but story driven

Ability to be immersed - For example, the graphics don't have to be great and can be dated but I don't like mobs just aimlessly standing around for no other reason then to be killed.  I thought DDO did a great job of giving Mobs a purpose and looked natural in their environment.  I don't like gasmes like WoW where panthers and other NPC's just walk in stupid triangular paths.

No coookie cutters, i.e. I like sorcerers that can choose different paths like Illusion, Summoning, Arcane and their strategies and playablilty based on their paths.  I don't like games where regardless of the magic school you follow their only function is high DPS.

PVP is ok but I would like a game that is PVE driven.

Doesn't need to have a large player base as long as the servers that are available have plenty of players.

If you have ideas of what games may fit this mold please respond.

Way too specific, I can't really think of any released game with that criteria. Your best bet is to wait for the upcoming games.

Maybe you'd have better luck if you put this in the LFGame Forum where it's supposed to be.

Those are some insane requirements, but other than PvE focus and story driven nongrinding game, I would say Darkfall is the best thing I can recommend, but again I doubt you'll find anything that meets those requirements, but you could always go play Neverwinter Nights, that was a great D&D game, and it has multiplayer with persistant world servers which are somewhat like MMO's.

Guild wars seems to come closest. It does not really have an open world or the character development you looking for.

Well... trying out Darfall and so far very impressed.  Droped into a new world buck naked having to relearn how to play a game.. very exciting!  Love the fact that it's taking me hours to complete my first quest, even accidentally sold quest items.  I love the fact that I lost my loot when dying and had to find it.  So far pretty cool.  Reminds me of playing MUD's in a way.
