Lol the latency is actually significant, though they are actually pretty good at hiding it.
The wife and i played ffxi together, on two ps2s, on the same, large screen TV (split screen). When she would go on follow on me, she would see herself literally right on my butt, following me. However, on my side of e screen, she was literally about 8 to 10 paces behind me!
The reselt is that, in FFXI, everyone you see is actually about a second or two further along in their world than you actually see. This is why, for anyone who used to chop lumber, you have some guy get to the tree, apparently a half second later than you...but then he starts accusing you of stealing the wood!...well, on his screen, you did.
We've played a lot of mmorpgs together. This effect was more pronounced in FFXI than in any other game we've played together.

When I played Lineage, I played on a server that was physically located on the west coast in North America. Does anyone know what the physical location of the servers will be? Will any be in North America or are they all in Japan? I am asking mainly about the time zones. Thanks.

The real actual reason for it was the capped data rate. Since it was capped for 56k modems, you could really see the difference. Since XIV will be cutting out the 56k's, it should be better I would assume...I guess...maybe...
To be the best, you must help each other become the best. FFXI Character: Satimasu FFXI Server: Valefor FFXIV Character: Tamorae Fonteil

Yeah there's region locking meaning you need to have NA account to play NA version EU account to play EU version etc.
But the servers are worldwide.
It is like FFXI
o.o Fast replies ty
Will the NA servers still be in Japan?
Yep, prepare for a massive 0,3second ping.

I agree with Spanky Bus. I saw that problem too.
