Ok before i start hearing people blubber on about oh i dont wanna work on progressing my toon i just want a hand to guide me through the hole game, Before thats said Darkfall is not a Themepark game..... Period its not for Casual player's it is not for people who dont like to think or get Frustrated easy with small tasks.
People dont seem to get once you play PvE, PVE and get out of the 30's and 40's stat hump which is really how long it takes to learn the game anyways you start to see the challenge of it all.
Lets say you are 40 str 40 vit and out hunting HARD pve.
In a Themepark your numbers have to match a level 8 will never kill a level 30 mob..... Ever
In Darkfall you can be a solo Alfar with the mid tier Hp and str and go hunting Medium and hard mobs as long as you take tactic with you the fights in your lot.
Its not on your level its on your skill to dodge there range attack, Jump behind tree's lose there line of sight, When to heal when to get close and go Melee, Ect...
What other game out there lets you have this much controll over your pve experiance.... Short answer None...
(Dont even say mortal because lol no its combats way to slow to dodge like in DF)
So in Fact in Darkfall you can be that Crazy level 8 taken down Hard mobs solo only with the tools you have to and the Thrill of Taking out Big Game solo is a heart pumping adrenaline rush.... Like no othere.
So all you Haters, All you people on the Fence, Get in do some hard PvP dont nutcup NPC city's there no fun go out into the world bind at chaos city's Throw yourself i nthe lion Deen and you will start seeing the challenge and competition that is Darkfall.
Darkfall is hand's down the best PVE and PVP out of any mmo on the market Hands Down...
You list another game that has the Freedom to fight your Way your own Style.... But i dont think you can.
I'v played since launch and will continue to play (Even while playing Xsyon and Earthrise).

Darkfall is probably the most boring MMO I've played so far as it lacks in content.
I love sandbox MMOs with open world FFA PvP, but Darkfall has simply no sand or tools in it to play around with and grinding through mobs for hours or harvesting materials is just not very entertaining.
EvE Online does all of this way better, and if Darkfall implements content, then it might get interesting for alot more players.
Hopes are high for Earthrise, as it promises alot of what EvE got right paired with 3rd person shooter combat.
I have to agree with jrs77. DarkFall lacks tools and sand. This excludes Fun Hulks, which AV dares describe as "Sandbox Content"
My biggest gripe with current sandboxes, including Darkfall, is that they are almost entirely focused on PVP and combat. Well, that's great, but it doesn't make it a sandbox. It's just a FFA PVP high fantasy game.
Uhm, "for people who don't like to think"????
It is true that mechanics without levels do have a lot of advantages but DFO feels kinda budget to me. And to truly judge which game is best on the market we first have to agree which points that makes a game best, DFO have some good and bad points.
Personally I will be waiting for WoDO instead, CCP and White wolf is just now making the ultimate sandbox with experienced devs and an actually good budget. While DFO have it's good things I don't see how it can compete with that.
Who says that?
Nobody.
Apparently, your interpretation of "hard PVE" is a lvl 80 Straw Man.
Next time, you should try not using your first paragraph to insult everyone that disagrees with you. Then maybe you can have a reasonable discussion.
Well i can see the Op has never played AC which has been out forever and allowed a properly skill/ trained character to take on and take out mobs 20, 30 and even 40 levels higher the the character with the right build, weapons, and tactics.
Other then that His whole post is just another "IMO Darkfall is the greatest, everyone one else suxxor, Blah BlaH Blah, i really have no experience with many other MMO's, thus DF rules post.
Thank you OP for sharing your opinion. it really doesn't seem worth much more then anyone elses opinion due to your limited experience but in time I'm sure you'll get out and experience more. Cheers
I love people who say they've played a lot of similar games and haven't, are huge fans of another game and take an opportunity at a post like this on another board to talk about the other game they love. So sad really.
Yes, DFO owns on multiple levels. One issue that gets in the way is it requires more than a week trial and for one to be social and get involved in a good clan. In that manner one can group and assisted and this also increases both the survivability, speed of increasing skills and fun factor a great deal. Many people who try DFO play it like you would some level based solo game and that isn't DFO. While one can solo, one will not get the satisfaction this game provides with that mind-set.

I cant believe people say EVE has actual content also... Log in, press skill to raise, log off. 3 months later, yay, I can go Pvping! Or you can just mine your life away from the start. It's no different than darkfalls content.
Ummmm... yep... good luck taking on Cruisers in your starter ship, complete with no mods and a complete lack of knowledge on how to do anything but fire guns and orbit the enemy.
This topic is getting itchy with all the straw flying around...
I agree that DFO is the best game on the market, but the OP didn't wrote why....
You being able to kill a high end mob while "low lvl" is one of the good points, but that is not what make DFO awesome.
I can write a text wall here and wll not convince anyone. I know that, cuz i tried to bring a lot of friends to the game, and the only way i made to do it, was when i brought them to my home while i was defending a city that is being sieged, or going in a boat trip. Huge Battles that you need discipline, leadership and strategy to win and in an army that goes near 100 player you are a single unknown man.
Ppl should try DFO, but expect something completly diferent from most of the MMO on the market. A damn hard start if you are alone.
If you try DF, one suggestion you must follow, first days: Find youself a clan in an alliance full of events. I can suggest some if anyone is interested.
Ok I'll Bite Who are these people that say they've played simular games but that you know haven't. (and just how do you know these things Psychic?) me i named Ac Ashrons Call. in reference to the op's claims that no other game allowed one to tackle harder (higher level mobs) Solo. Darktide was AC's open PvP server.
Also what your mysterious comment about people using this thread on another board? Which board, by whom? Please enlighten us.
"DFO owns on multiple levels" This is not a fact this is just your opinion clouding your judgement making you think that because you believe it, it must be so. No statement you make after that statement is more then your opinion and interpitation of why people don't like Df, While it may well be true that some try DF like a level based solo game and dislike it because of such i could point out just as many that went inplaying it as a skilled based sandbox PvP game and still disliked it. Your further insinuation that players MUST subscribe to Df to grasp its fun potential as it requires more then 1 week trial while possibly true puts your whole post in question. Call me paranoid but anyone that basically states one must subscribe to the game to begin to have fun sounds alittle too viral to me.
Thank goodness, an intelligent and insightful post. A rare thing to find these days unfortunately.
I think many gamers are just used to the spoonfed garden variety game you can move through solo until perhaps you have a dungeon or some thing you need a group for. bomb3r, there are actually people who post here who admit to never joining a guild and complain about the grind & lack of pvp. It's funny & sad at the same time. What you did with your friends is what we used to do in-game with our guild. Any time a new recruit would join we'd get a group and go pvping, let the recruit get the first gank and after an hour or two of raiding they'd be hooked.
There are some legitimate concerns with DFO; many of which have been addressed via patches and continue to improve, but the lion share of the complaints come from folks who actually do not really know the game; they know fighting goblins and finding a random harvester to attack then complain about grind & lack of content as if they know what they are talking about.
@winter - I was responding to post #2 by jrs77. Take a closer look and I'm sure what I wrote will make more sense to you.

I played Darkfall for the full month of my initial subscription when it was released and I chose to play Darkfall because it is exactly not what you like to put in my mouth.
I don't like being spoonfed, but I like there to be content I can play around with and this is where Darkfall falls totally flat.
DAoC, Neocron and EvE have content like quests/missions, exploration, good crafting systems etc whereas Darkfall has nothing else but a grindfest for everything.
And the guilds is something I actually expect to be mandatory for everyone who like to play a MMO with competitive PvP. A MMO shouldn't be playable solo in end-game-content.
And end-game-content in Darkfall? Nope, yet nothing there but a siege-system that is absolutely laughable compared to territorial warfare of EvE and even csatle-sieges in DAoC where way better.
I do understand that those who have not played any other sandbox FFA-PvP MMO before do think that there can't be content like quests, or exploration or whatever, but it's been done before succesfully and imho it's mandatory, as otherwise the game get's boring within the first 2 weeks.
The lack of content is the reason, why Darkfall isn't very succesful, but only attracts as much players to keep the servers running.
European servers are atually drying out atm.
@ china-cat: Insulting others is probably the worst you can do to defend your arguments. Just sayin, as you don't know jack about the games I've played before. But I can tell you that I'm playing MMOs since UO and AO were released. And PC-games in general since the C64 was introduced.
Lack of content is commonly mistaken for being "sandbox" by people who I usually refer to as "fanboys," although I don't really like using that word (fanboy) just because it implies that I enjoy using stupid words like that.
These same people will also simultaneously claim that you "must be in a clan in order to experience the game" and that the game is "sandbox," which always gives me a good chuckle.
Being currently subscribed to Darkfall and having been for a while now, I am forced by my functional brain to agree with what you said, because its true. I continue to stay subscribed because I play for FFA PVP exclusively.
My Darkfall character was stuck in RED alignment until I killed enough people AFK hitting trees and rocks. Darkfall is hardcore
Totally agree but they will stand by their beliefs
Ummmmm... yep... good luck taking on vets in your goblin gear, complete with no q3 enchantments no buffs, no real magic and a complete lack of knowledge on how to do anything but run at an enemy with your sword.
See what I did there? It's no different.
I have not played DF and probably will not play DF.
However, I have a comment on the Sandox reference.
In a "sandbox" game the reason to go out and PvE is for resources and skill gaining. To me that is more "content" than the generic quests that are out there to level you up.
By Lack of Content are you talking quests? Or can you find no reason to go out and PvE or PvP other than buidling skills?
Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.
Darkfall could be the best MMO on the market hands down if it was not so clan based. It really really really needs racial wars so that there is a constant war going on that players and clans can join.
Unfortunatly Darkfall in it's current form is based around pimpled teenage boys pumped with testosterone and lack of sex shouting down vent playing Orcs and Elves in the same clan. The politics are epeen politics.
I was looking for something more meaningful like in PlanetSide where you have a persistent war between 3 factions with territory control.
Darkfall + Racial Wars = The best game ever.
I Agree with the WoDO i was a Fan of Vampire The Masquerade: Redemption because of the storyteller tools and it was endless, Tho it was a small game.
But its prob a long way away.. (hope not tho...)
I'm not sure I understand your definition. Every game I've played with combat has some kind of resource to gather and character progression to be made. Claiming that a game with extra quest dialogs contains less content than one without, simply by virtue of having the quests, doesn't withstand rudimentary logic. They can be trite, mind numbing and poorly written quests, to be sure, but they're still there.
To clear it up, as I have understood the definition, content is a unique activity a player can interact with or experience in a game that differs from one to another. Content can refer to activities that have open-ended results, like combat, or closed experiences with predictable results like leveling. It's difficult to compare content, primarily because one of the things we expect from our content is entertainment and different people will grow bored at different rates depending on what they're doing. Some people have 0 tolerance for crafting and others have 0 tolerance for PvP - but irregardless, the content is still present even if the player chooses not to engage in it.
Just about every game nowadays has some progression content. The trick with content is deciding the point at which it becomes repetative, and therefore, no longer unique. This is why it usually draws a collective frown when someone mentions that "skill gaining" can be considered content. In most cases it's just considered a grind - otherwise known as content that exists on a curve that far outweighs its initial entertainment and uniqueness value.
Gaining skills and gathering resources are certainly content, but they're rudimentary aspects of a larger whole. Skills are gained as a means to keep the player busy so they'll interact with other elements of the world (ie other content). Likewise, resources are gathered so players can experience crafting or business content. The trouble here is those are pretty universal content tools for most MMO's and alone, they're not enough to allow a game to boast about its unique content.
The morning sun has vanquished the horrible night.
Haha, what up Bomber! Its Balsm
I agree dude, Darkfall isnt for everyone but for those with some patience DFO can but the by far the best MMO out there currently. Once these big updates are out coming up, imo hands down DFO is the pvp to beat on the market. Just my opition of course.
The best thing about DFO is the freedom to do whatever you want in a huge loadless world. After 7-8 months of playing I still get that same warm and fuzzy feeling each time I log in, simply because I never know what each night will bring. Its always a different experience for myself becasue I DONT GRIND. I play the game and go with the flow...something many people cant seem to do because their so used to games like WoW where everything is handed to you in 2-4 months of casual gameplay.
I agree DFO is lacking more snadbox elements, I agree that it needs more content but for christs sake the game is just over one year old!! And its run by a fukn small company with very little cash to spend.....your all spolied by companies liek blizzard or SoE who have tons of money to throw around and even put out buggy updates, which confuses the fuk outa me.
So ya, all you trolls have problems with DFO. Thats great, make sure to post here so the whole world knows if it makes you feel better. Awesome... But the truth is DFO just isnt for you. Move onto something else and stfu. But we all know thats not gonna happen, your all just gonna keep on postin to get your rocks off lol.
I 100% agree with the OP. DFO is the hands down the best fantasy pvp MMO out currently (I've no interest in Sci-fi) and if AV continues to keep at it, it will only get better. I know for sure this dude will be there through to the end to see what else AV has in store for Agon. The rest of you? Hope you find that MMO you enjoy so you can finally get the hell off these forums. Not likely to happen I suppose unfortionately lol
"I play Tera for the gameplay"
Nice post. It never ceaes to amaze me how what I colored in yellow happens on these mmorpg forums with such great tenacity. To some this forum is more of a game to them than the games themselves. Fact is, those who would love DFO would likely not be swayed by the troll posts. They are so obvious.
Cheers -CC

All my most hardcore DF friends always complain about the game. And when i tell them to quit and play something else, they just scream there is nothing else as good as DF to play!
Those who say that a game should have more stuff after 1 yr really haven't paid much attention to the AAA titles out there. How long did it take blizzard to add RP's (or whatever theya re called). How long did it take to add battlegrounds? instances?
Even the AAA titles take time to add content. I DFO working at abou the same rate as any game on the market. The difference is that it is a sandbox. They work on the game system first, then add the conent once the system is working. The next patch seems to be a "system" overhaul so that new types of conent can be accomodated.
If we are lucky we will see a lot of new conent to see and explore.
Damn Balsm! You got mad.... lol
The truth is that i play RPG games since Ultima 7 (Great Ultima Series Fan - Even tried to play Ultima 1 to feel it), Castle of the Winds (Huge Fan also).... And my MMO experience started with UO... I was playing Strategy Games (WarCraft 2 at zone.com) and Diablo I before that....
Back on early UO days we don't had many MMO's as today, i got addicted to UO (Played on a Brazilian free shard for 5 years - I'm from Brazil - POL Emulated), so 6 years ago this freeshard went to garbage for many reasons. And it was when my journey to find a MMO that give me much fun as UO did started. I tried WoW (Got my top lvl character in 1 month, after it started the instances), i felt that the pvp is pointless, since if you beat someone, nothing happens, and if you die, nothing happens too, so 4 months playing i got pretty bored (I had fun when i went to kill some enemies for the first, second, third, forth time)....
Tried Line Age - Played for 2 Months - Got Bored
Tried Guild Wars - Too Linear - Got Bored
Tried EVE - I must admit, i don't like SCI-FI....
When i played DF - A FFA Full Loot PvP i didn't got bored - for the first time after 5 years i found a MMO that i have fun as i did while playing UO.
I remember during my 5th month in DFO when we had a battle when my alliance (Death) split in 2 and fought for the Ice continent control, was a whole week of warfare, non stop, i never had that much fun in a MMO or in a PC Game,... NEVER, Since 1992...
Conclusion: I hate Craft, I don't like SCI-FI, PVE-Only PVE is fucking Boring, and i can't handle a non full loot pvp game. I need to feel excited while pvping.
So my main reason to be playing darkfall is bcuz when you fight you risk some shit and the other risk some shit too, in a siege you can loose beside your gear your city so you give everything that you can to defend it, in a boat trip you can lose or get a boat that is damn expensive, so you'll give everything that you can. While in other games if i die, don't matter, still the same or you lose something that in 15 min you can get it back....
