How to DL as a torrent in Windows 7! And do almost the same if u got windows xp or vista.
I posted this in another thread but ppl might not see it so i'll post it as a new topic 
Firstly keep your current download through the SE installer running
Goto windows:
My computer-> C: -> Users -> David (or whatever your name/folder is) -> My documents -> My Games -> Final Fantasy 14 beta -> downloads -> ffxiv-beta ->
From here you will see a folder for each of the installers. The first folder is Bca2a~~~~
The large one that most people are trying to get is d96437e6, open this folder. Open the folder inside named "metainfo"
Here you will see the torrent file named H2010.07.12.2000
Open this file (i used Utorrent as my client) and set the place for it to the same as where we looked at the start of my post
My computer-> C: -> Users -> David (or whatever your name/folder is) -> My documents -> My Games -> Final Fantasy 14 beta -> downloads -> ffxiv-beta ->
Don't select folder d96437e6
now press/click ok.
You will now see that the entry in Utorrent says "checking xx.x%" and will works its way up to 100% at which point the download %age in Utorrent and the SE installer will match.
Now you can close the SE installer window by clicking the cancel button. You should now see better speeds for downloading.
Make sure DHT is on by going to (in Utorrent) Preferences->Bittorent:
Enable DHT network
Enable DHT on new torrents
Enable Local peer discovery
Please be a good person, appreciate you have downloaded faster and therefore share what you have downloaded. Either keep Utorrent open for a while afterwards or reopen it for atleast a few hours sometime later on (when eating, when leaving your pc for some amount of time). We've helped you get it faster, you can help others get it faster.

How are you getting over 300
I was only able to get that for a little bit today, all i've been getting is a average of 70 kB/s. I've been using uTorrent since 5am this morning and am at 81.7%

8.3gb download on a torrent going 30kb/s.... man that is going to take looooooong time...
I downloaded the 3.5gb file, it installed and loaded the game, but when i click Start from the title menu it doesnt get past the loading screen, says something about no connection to the lobby server.
I was kidding. The beta is over though. So you won't be able to log in anyway.
LOL yeah only the 3.50 file was all i downloaded. The beta isn't over its just they are controlling the log in times. Thursday is the next day for testing. They scrapped the sat and sunday testing for maintenance hopefully they are beefing up the networks or something.
Im not sure when exactly they are doing the 24/7 access to servers but right now they are just making sure that all the switches from Alpha to Beta are working right so thats why the servers aren't open 24/7.
I was able to download the ~3.5GB patch file via uTorrent but when I try to run the FFXIV program it still tries to download what appears to be the same .torrent file. The FFXIV client takes forever to download anything and constantly gets interrupted and errors out on my machine. So I can't really set it and forget it.
Could someone who has already downloaded the FFXIV beta client please PM me with a link to either a direct download of the beta client or a torrent for it. Or let me know what I may be doing wrong to cause this download to take so long and constantly error out.

Even if u downloaded and saved the patch in the folder ffxiv-beta, I think the update u downloaded via utorrent should come in ur downloading folder for utorrent too, check there, if u got the d96437e6 folder in ur downloads, take and replace it with the d96437e6 folder in folder ffxiv-beta, then start the launcher again and u will see that its counting from 1-100% pretty fast

well i did everything you said, the utorrent download went to 100% but just directly to seeding. the speeds on the SE launcher are still irregular. the download only downloads on utorrent if i do click the dc whatever folder.

wow this is the worse download i've done in a long time... i downloaded games 5x bigger way faster than this. the default SE downloader is ridiculous. i was at 15hrs left 24hrs ago. now its stuck on 58% with 33hrs remaining and crawwwwwling. lol
thnx for the tip tho. i did see a sizable jump in dl speed going w/ utorrent. only thing is that after verification it looks to have started downloading at the beginng again. i didn't see it synchronize with the SE downloader. im a little worried something is potentially wrong. god i hope this turns out fine.
question (cause im not tech-savy) is it possible to have my brother sign on from his computer at his place and download the files there too to further this along? can both comps be downloading from my login since neither comps have to be logged in after initiating the download? essentially ill be the one playing and he doesn't really care bout this stuff so i don't see it violating NDA.

An easier explanation, Just replace the d96437e6 folder in your utorrent downloads with your other d96437e6 folder in the ffxiv-beta folder. Then start the SE downloader again and it should work.
Yes he can sign in with ur login at another place and downloads the files without a problem, and you doesn't have to be logged in to download the files. But this doesnt make so you can download the game faster. When he start download it will start at 0% and same too you.

nah i want him to start downloading cause for some reason my internet is losing connection every few hrs so i have to be awake or there to re-initiate the download. i was going to have him see if he can get it before me, but i was going to continue downloading here as well. thnx for the response. since beta is currently under maintenance at least i don't feel like im missing out, but man this thing is killing me. lol

Well, the beta will start on monday again I think 
And you didn't miss anything of the beta, 3/4 of all ppl werent even able to log in cuz Square Enix had some issues with the servers or something.

Strange, it worked for me and my friends. Did you really replaced the folder som utorrent downloads to square enix folder? your using windows 7or xp?

Man thanks for the tip, although I wish it came sooner so I could actually have done some good in the beta.
Downloading with 1,4mb and uploading with 900kb atm. ALOT better when you use a real torrent program then their shitty "launcher".
i noticed it wasnt working because when i put in the new d9 it doesnt do anything but want to just download the 15.2000 folder
