So my main reason to be playing darkfall is bcuz when you fight you risk some shit and the other risk some shit too, in a siege you can loose beside your gear your city so you give everything that you can to defend it, in a boat trip you can lose or get a boat that is damn expensive, so you'll give everything that you can. While in other games if i die, don't matter still the same o you lose something that in 15 min you can get it back....
Huah Militia! We had some really good battles on Ice, too bad I missed the Aesir/Black Company revolt. (btw ít's Keller)
Yeah the first few months of DFO were awesome. Darkfall has a lot of potential and what is even better, devs who are working to improve or at least try to improve the game. No skill limit is the gamebreaker for me.

I agree DFO is lacking more snadbox elements, I agree that it needs more content but for christs sake the game is just over one year old!! And its run by a fukn small company with very little cash to spend.....your all spolied by companies liek blizzard or SoE who have tons of money to throw around and even put out buggy updates, which confuses the fuk outa me.
So ya, all you trolls have problems with DFO. Thats great, make sure to post here so the whole world knows if it makes you feel better. Awesome... But the truth is DFO just isnt for you. Move onto something else and stfu. But we all know thats not gonna happen, your all just gonna keep on postin to get your rocks off lol.
I 100% agree with the OP. DFO is the hands down the best fantasy pvp MMO out currently (I've no interest in Sci-fi) and if AV continues to keep at it, it will only get better. I know for sure this dude will be there through to the end to see what else AV has in store for Agon. The rest of you? Hope you find that MMO you enjoy so you can finally get the hell off these forums. Not likely to happen I suppose unfortionately lol
Red: The excuse "It's a small company" or "it's in Beta" (or whatever other twists some players may say) doesn't apply. They made an MMORPG, and a certain amount of quality is to be expected from a company that has been working on their game for 8 years and a launched game that is almost a year and a half old. The game isn't doing well at all, AV doesn't bring to right fixes to help Agon grow.....
Yellow: I see you haven't grown out of the "If you disagree with me, you are a troll" thing. But hey, I get it. DarkFall just isn't for me. I need an actual Sandbox that has content, meaningfull PvP, a good crafting system, a real economy, actual Racial Conflict and incentive for Player to go RAC rather than ARAC. Meaningfull Specialization that doesn't forces every player to take the hybrid path of MageArcherWarrior to be PvP viable. A game where grind is not used to hide a lack of content....etc so yeah....DarkFall lacks all that....It's just not for me.
Orange: That's your opinion. But that opinion is not based on fact. Had DarkFall been the "best fantasy PvP MMO" that you say it is, it would actually have more subs than say...UO, which has been running for over 10 years....and many others... Just because you think it is doesn't make it true. Time to come back to reality.
i Believe that sieges and politics in Darkfall are more than enough of a content to get involved with the world...you can kill goblins if you like but thats boring... there is plenty of places to explore although much are empty and with no reason at all, just cool visuals.
Being a Harverster/Crafter isnt so bad.,.. soon enough you can make most of the good gear/weapons and with harvesting you raise at the same time strengh/wisdom/vitality along with the good gear that you can make now..you can go right away to explore and pve/pvp if you like or you can continue make fortune by crafting and selling..buy a house and so on...
From MY experience the biggest CON for the most new people is the lack of 3rd Person View for magic and archery as it is for melee... i agree that if they really try it they can get used to the first/3rd person changes all the time...but how you can convince them to try it if that lack in the first place is their deal breaker???
Something else most new people dont like is the ancient UI with the most bad thing the CHAT. I dont say put bubbles on top of the toons heads but if there isnt other way i say go for it..if you dont want others to know where u are while speaking because of bubbles its simple..dont speak on public if you wanna sneak on someone!!
Also New players and mostly younger ages doesnt like the graphics...i think graphics are awesome btw. but Animations still suck a bit although there is improvments since launch...
So if Aventurine put some effort to sort out the above i think they can have all the subscribers they need to continue run the game since population right now seems really bad...
I agree that DFO is the best game on the market, but the OP didn't wrote why....
You being able to kill a high end mob while "low lvl" is one of the good points, but that is not what make DFO awesome.
I can write a text wall here and wll not convince anyone. I know that, cuz i tried to bring a lot of friends to the game, and the only way i made to do it, was when i brought them to my home while i was defending a city that is being sieged, or going in a boat trip. Huge Battles that you need discipline, leadership and strategy to win and in an army that goes near 100 player you are a single unknown man.
Ppl should try DFO, but expect something completly diferent from most of the MMO on the market. A damn hard start if you are alone.
If you try DF, one suggestion you must follow, first days: Find youself a clan in an alliance full of events. I can suggest some if anyone is interested.
Haha, what up Bomber! Its Balsm
I agree dude, Darkfall isnt for everyone but for those with some patience DFO can but the by far the best MMO out there currently. Once these big updates are out coming up, imo hands down DFO is the pvp to beat on the market. Just my opition of course.
The best thing about DFO is the freedom to do whatever you want in a huge loadless world. After 7-8 months of playing I still get that same warm and fuzzy feeling each time I log in, simply because I never know what each night will bring. Its always a different experience for myself becasue I DONT GRIND. I play the game and go with the flow...something many people cant seem to do because their so used to games like WoW where everything is handed to you in 2-4 months of casual gameplay.
I agree DFO is lacking more snadbox elements, I agree that it needs more content but for christs sake the game is just over one year old!! Nice post. It never ceaes to amaze me how what I colored in yellow happens on these mmorpg forums with such great tenacity. To some this forum is more of a game to them than the games themselves. Fact is, those who would love DFO would likely not be swayed by the troll posts. They are so obvious.

I am not defending the trolls out there, but this website is designed to help the community choose MMORPG games to play. So many feel to need to post the negative opinions as a good-intentioned attempt to warn people from investing in games that they believe are not worth playing for various reasons.
If people kept their negitive criticisms out of these forums than these forums would have no weight. We all want to know the truth about these games -- admittedly it is always difficult to sort through the garbage/troll posts but hopefully in the long run it's worth time put in here rather than the time wasted in a game not worth playing.
Negative posts about Mortal Online kept me from buying it. From what I am hearing now it is a good thing I read those posts.

I completely agree with you, but it is not the casual sharing of opinions & exchange of information, discussion or debate that I consider under the category of "Troll". Take a look at some of the posters post history and that often reveals a lot. There is a big difference between a person who buys a game, gives it a fair shot and returns to chime in now & then compared to one who appears to "ONLY" be registered on this forum for the purpose of doing that on a daily basis for months, or years. I'm sure you understand what I'm saying. Those who appear relentless to rehash the same stuff each day for months on end actually bring the quality of these forums down and lessen the very aspect of it we agree is valuable.

The same post that i see on mmorpg's are the same post i usually see on DF main forum for players.
Darkfall could be the best MMO on the market hands down if it was not so clan based. It really really really needs racial wars so that there is a constant war going on that players and clans can join.
Unfortunatly Darkfall in it's current form is based around pimpled teenage boys pumped with testosterone and lack of sex shouting down vent playing Orcs and Elves in the same clan. The politics are epeen politics.
I was looking for something more meaningful like in PlanetSide where you have a persistent war between 3 factions with territory control.
Darkfall + Racial Wars = The best game ever.
I agree
Darkfall got enough content for a pvper. Infact we got all that we need right now except pvp players. I honestly belive if we made casual players competitive faster we wouldn`t had two empty servers. If Darkfall could promote it self as a pvp mmo and not a PVE mmo with full loot, would also be a good start. After a long raidboss fight in WOW, players could log into Darkfall for some heart pumping pvp.
And AV should make racial wars the main pvp events. This is how I would have fixed the problems.
- Paid race change. AV gets money and clans can chose the same race. Humans can capture citys inside the Alfar lands for territorial controll. Same race clans can still war eachother.
-20% less damage done as a member of an ARAC clan. Sandbox, you can chose.
-Timer to lose your red status (like 10 hours each friendly kill), and 20 % less damage done as a red. Sandbox, you can chose. Reds can form ARAC clans and be the fourth faction in the racial war.
-Fast stat gains and fast skill gains in pvp skills. After all Darkfall is a pvp mmo and that`s why most of us play.

The same post that i see on mmorpg's are the same post i usually see on DF main forum for players.
Come on, that's a bit of a silly one-liner in response to what I wrote. With that said, that alone doesn't surprise me since for some here, that is as close as they get to the game and mimic those posts they wish to laser focus on.
I've yet to find any game regardless of if I loved it or disliked it that didn't have room to improve. So what? Fact is, those on the subscriber forum are choosing to pay to play for a reason and you would be hard pressed to find any there who run without a guild and use gear they wouldn't be thrilled about taking off a victim who also compains about lack of PvP and how death is meaningless; not true on this forum where at times reality is created out of the ether.
Obviously most playing DFO would love more players and obviously many players including me want the game to be less of a grind. The "less of a grind" is the line between doing stuff because you have to and doing stuff because it's fun, and that has improved a lot and continues to.

I don't play anymore, but Darkfall is an exceptional game. Back when UO came out, I was single, had a good job, free time, etc, and could play that kind of game that had that kind of progression.
Forward 15+ years; married, kids, still a good job but moonlight on the side for extra money...I just don't have the time I need to devote to Darkfall to enjoy, in any reasonable fashion, the prime selling point: PvP. That is not a failing of the game in my eyes, merely the circumstances of my schedule. The best ultra casual PvP is, in my opinion, WAR, and I might sub back to that while waiting for GW2.
I remember during my 5th month in DFO when we had a battle when my alliance (Death) split in 2 and fought for the Ice continent control, was a whole week of warfare, non stop, i never had that much fun in a MMO or in a PC Game,... NEVER, Since 1992...
Conclusion: I hate Craft, I don't like SCI-FI, PVE-Only PVE is fucking Boring, and i can't handle a non full loot pvp game. I need to feel excited while pvping.
Yeah the first few months of DFO were awesome. Darkfall has a lot of potential and what is even better, devs who are working to improve or at least try to improve the game. No skill limit is the gamebreaker for me.

Damn Kellers, only the no skill limit kept you away from DFO?
Actualy i hate forums, as many can see, i don't post too much, cuz for some reason what i see on the forums, mostly is completly diferent than what is actualy happening on game.
Idk, about EU-1 on Darkfall, but living in Erinthel on NA-1 the server is definately NOT empty, and all i read on forums show the oposite. This week i was planning on farming some mob to gather gold to buy mats to train a craft skill, but somehow the empty server didn't gave me a pvp break, mostly of the time that i was online was someone raiding us, or we counter-attacking some clan, defending our territory.
If you like all the points listed in the post quoted, try DFO and follow my first suggetion: Find a Clan....
I would look at the good reviews and see if it can fit my play style and even ask to these lovers to show me the real game... If i don't like it even seeing the "real game" so we can post: "I ve been in 2 boat trips, and 4 raids, and 3 sieges and 1 sea tower while playing DFO and IT SUCKS" what i doubt that could happen.

I have a similar conversation with my friends in-game all the time, how a lot of the stuff we read on the boards doesn't reflect what we are experiencing in-game.
I started posting here only after seeing so much misinformation go unchecked. It's one thing to read an opposing opinion; no games for every one, but entirely another thing to see tons of what appears "Trolling" by those with some type of agenda, or who simply can't recognize a game with a rule-set that is not for them and hence call it "bad".

I cant believe people say EVE has actual content also... Log in, press skill to raise, log off. 3 months later, yay, I can go Pvping! Or you can just mine your life away from the start. It's no different than darkfalls content.
Ummmm... yep... good luck taking on Cruisers in your starter ship, complete with no mods and a complete lack of knowledge on how to do anything but fire guns and orbit the enemy.
This topic is getting itchy with all the straw flying around...
Ummmmm... yep... good luck taking on vets in your goblin gear, complete with no q3 enchantments no buffs, no real magic and a complete lack of knowledge on how to do anything but run at an enemy with your sword.
See what I did there? It's no different.
Hey, Shortbus... I'm not the one claiming that Darkfall lacks content. YOU made the premise that all there is to Eve is setting your skills and logging off for months to achieve success. If you played, you'd know that's not remotely true.
There is no Best Game. The problem in today's game market is exactly that: everyone wants to join the bandwagon and play "the best game". Came developers also want to reproduce WoW's incredible success story and want to create "the best game".
Gamers, like all other groups, are heterogeneous and defy categorizing. As such, they play and consume wildly different games. Which is good, because otherwise there would be those tired old games and that's it.
Darkfall might certainly be "the best game" for a diminute amount of people. However, it lacks several layers of content and tools that would appeal to a wider audience. The proof is in the game itself. Population is low, and mostly anyone who would ever play a game like this know about it due to its viral advertising over those development years and the hype around it.
I am a true believer of "variety is good". However, I think new Developers must strive to find a formula to make a game in timely fashion, with the available resources. Releasing half-baked products (such as DF was during launch and as MO is, right now) hurts future serious companies in this business. Gamers are not idiots (imagine that!). We, like all consumers, speak with our wallets.
I must have read at least 60 or so of threads just like this one. It's one of very ew mmos that I have no ttried, so I am downloading the trial and we'll see how this will work out

Lol, man you're a genius! Because that's right what i'm doing in my most pvp encounters (I mean taking veterans with my r40 GA in banded w/o any magic or even archery, because my 3 weeks old toon does only have one melee mastery (51 lvl) and nothing more). So far it's 50/50. I killed a couple veterans and lost a couple times... And i'm a crappy PvPer. Some guys could have better results, that's for sure...

Man, the practice shows pretty obvious that most of those who try to "appeal to wider audience" fail miserably. See Champions Online, Warhammer Online, Star Trek Online, Age of Conan, Aion< APB... Not speaking of Tabula Rasa... Yeah, all those games are alive (aside from TR) and have some plans, but considering what they pretended to be they are completely failure.
Darkfall never pretended to be the next WoW. It's an indy MMOG developed by a small company. And it's still alive and doing better and better. But nobody can garantee that as soon as AV will try to "appeal to wider audience" they don't fail as well...

I'm sorry, but your post is a fail. 90% of the games you mentioned above are for Specific markets, not to a wide audience.
Champions online - Comics fans / CoH-CoV fans
Warhammer - specific setting for WAGH fans (sure lots of people tried it, but only some of the fans remained)
STO - Same thing than warhammer
APB - GTA / ONline shooters fans
Tabula Rasa - SCi Fi fans - not fantasy fans.
However I do agree that Darkfall never pretended to be the next WoW.

Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy

Yea thats what supporters of the game do or at least a good majority there are some that are actually pretty smart and at least agree about all the things that are bad in the game.
Personally I will be waiting for WoDO instead, CCP and White wolf is just now making the ultimate sandbox with experienced devs and an actually good budget. While DFO have it's good things I don't see how it can compete with that.
WoDO is scheduled to launch in 2010, and not a single screenshot was released so far. I don't think that no news is good news ...
There are actually tons of medieval fantasy sandboxes in development, and sadly all of them have much worse production values than DF. Noone gives sandbox game high budget, because players are used to games where everyone can win.
The biggest problem with sandboxes, especially with FFA PvP is that not everyone can win. Game designers don't control the experience, so it's very easy for 5% top players to raise bar so high that normal, casual, sane players can't compete.
Let's compare themepark to DF or EvE or pre-Trammel UO: In themepark game other competing players don't influence your game experience at all. You can play at your own pace, knowing well that sooner or later you'll get the same items that top guilds have right now. You may not progress so fast, but you never lose.
In sandbox game you either try to compete in "dangerous" space, usually losing time after time, or "play it safe", and wonder what so special about this game.
Ok before i start hearing people blubber on about oh i dont wanna work on progressing my toon i just want a hand to guide me through the hole game, Before thats said Darkfall is not a Themepark game..... Period its not for Casual player's it is not for people who dont like to think or get Frustrated easy with small tasks.
People dont seem to get once you play PvE, PVE and get out of the 30's and 40's stat hump which is really how long it takes to learn the game anyways you start to see the challenge of it all.
Lets say you are 40 str 40 vit and out hunting HARD pve.
In a Themepark your numbers have to match a level 8 will never kill a level 30 mob..... Ever
In Darkfall you can be a solo Alfar with the mid tier Hp and str and go hunting Medium and hard mobs as long as you take tactic with you the fights in your lot.
Its not on your level its on your skill to dodge there range attack, Jump behind tree's lose there line of sight, When to heal when to get close and go Melee, Ect...
What other game out there lets you have this much controll over your pve experiance.... Short answer None...
(Dont even say mortal because lol no its combats way to slow to dodge like in DF)
So in Fact in Darkfall you can be that Crazy level 8 taken down Hard mobs solo only with the tools you have to and the Thrill of Taking out Big Game solo is a heart pumping adrenaline rush.... Like no othere.
So all you Haters, All you people on the Fence, Get in do some hard PvP dont nutcup NPC city's there no fun go out into the world bind at chaos city's Throw yourself i nthe lion Deen and you will start seeing the challenge and competition that is Darkfall.
Darkfall is hand's down the best PVE and PVP out of any mmo on the market Hands Down...
You list another game that has the Freedom to fight your Way your own Style.... But i dont think you can.
I'v played since launch and will continue to play (Even while playing Xsyon and Earthrise).
omg this made me laugh so hard i pee'd myselff a little... PvE game ROFL.....
Sandbox game creates only possibility for engaging gameplay, and does not guarantee it:
70% of EvE players never leave Empire space. Most who leave Empire space, spend their time on such exciting events as "camping gate for 3 hours", or "alliance mining event".
It's actually HARDER for typical MMO player to have fun in EvE than in DF.
I prefer raging over lost battle in DF, because aliance leader was a dumbass, than fall asleep during large scale PvP, because alliance leader have problems with coordinating fleet attack.

FFA Loot, you can loose everything you have on you (or gain everything your enemy has on him)
City Building
Sieging
Naval Combat
Player housing
Crafting/Harvesting (it's not complex, but it works)
Depletable nodes
All things that makes DFO great. Sure it has its flaws, but for a fully pvp centric game, you really should pick DFO. There's no game like it.
Oh and just read the post by Smeagollum on Page 6 of the Expansion Update Spotlight for World Terrain: http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=253323&page=6
This is all a joke.....

Perhaps some day. =-)

It's one of very ew mmos that I have no ttried, so I am downloading the trial and we'll see how this will work out
Sinister Savant MMORPG Community
