A bit of planning

I subbed to Fallen Earth at the start, but I have only just go into the game.   Before I would login do a few missions, get killed rather easily and then logout.  I didn't quite get Fallen Earth at all, until I realised it's has quite a lot to do with a forward planning.  Most games you can leap in and off you go questing and that, you probably have some pots in your pack, some food and that's about all you need.   Fallen Earth is different, it pays to think ahead and do a bit of planning.

What are you going to be doing next time you login?  Scavenge for materials? Then clear out your packs and get down to the base requirements.  Going on a few missions? Craft a load of ammo overnight ready for the following day. It's all pretty obvious stuff perhaps to many, but it took ages for it to click with me.  I would just go on missions, kill a few things, get killed a few times, get fed up and log out.  Had no real plan of attack and treated it pretty much like any other MMO.

Don't get me wrong you don't have to be an egghead to play the game or anything stupid, but I think once you realise if you plan, things make more sense and everything goes a lot smoother. The game starts to open up  a lot more, you start to see the depth the game actually has overall.  I have  gone from thinking it was ok, to thinking it is probably the best MMO  I have ever played.   The only change is in how I have approached the game and I am now having a great time. I am even crafting which is something I never do in other MMO's, I don't mind gathering/scavenging but hated making stuff. Now it's a part of the game I enjoy which is good as it's obviously an integral part. Even group quests can be done solo with some thought and prep, a few levels above.  Things like that I was just ruling out straight away from past MMO experience. But in Fallen Earth, you don't know until you try which is great.

So anyway I just thought I would say if you struggle initially with Fallen Earth and get frustrated, just look at how you are going about things in the world.  Perhaps a lack of planning may be the cause of the problems and with a little forethought, things might be a lot different.

I agree as well. I was in the beta and tried the trial several times before the game "clicked" with me and, more importantly, I learned to approach it in a different way. Just like you Fallen Earth went from being rather "meh" to me to being one of my favorite MMO experiences. Great assessment and definitely good way for new players to view the game. I'll see everyone in the wasteland.
