I said this on another website, so I'll say it here.

It wasn't so much them defending their choice, its more of them SIDESTEPPING every complaint and issue.

I dont get it when people that talk about unfairness are mistaken by crying.... I play allods, and this patch is ridiculous, yes, they say the 'core' is free... I'm a tank paladin, pre-patch I used to kill a mob of the same lvl easy, now... Without incense I almost get killed while fighting a mob 1 lvl lower, ok, they say incense can be purchased in auction house from other players... I went there... and one 21 hour incense costs more than 60 gold... Pre-patch i could grind for a whole day and get that amount... Now i need like a week of grind to get that amount (dont forget that now is a pain in the ass to kill mobs). I had gold left, got some incense... Used it... Oh la la... Now i can take on 4 of the same mobs, easy.... Went for some PVP, Found 2 players 3 lvls higher than me without incense = PWNAGE... how fair is that? Incense gives me 200% more damage and heal...

You can say wathever you want, QQ, whining, leave the game, yada yada yada... The truth is that ppl is leaving the game, and the use of incense make the life a lot easier... Paying users = god mode. Free users = close your teeths and grind for a week until you get some g's to buy incense.

Why would anyone bother with this game if it is like this now. Buy incense to level or grind gold to get it off the AH. Leave and make your view clear. Don't allow companies to dictate your gameplay. Forcing anyone and yes this is compulsion to buy using real money is beyond reasonable. Come on you cnanot be this desperate to play ?

Some people just find it hard to accept that this game is sh** now I guess. Back in beta the game waas great, pretty much almost AAA quality. After they 'released' the item shop, which had a rather large uproar about it, was when I told myself this game is gonna go and go fast. It appears they haven't learned their lesson from the first big mistake they made, so I doubt they'll ever fix it, or the even worse Item-mall-dependant death penalty (specially when the death penalty applies to more than just when you die).

Astrum Nival had this great idea, creating Allods Online, a free to play game which you could enjoy to the fullest extent without requiring CS. Well, Astrum Nival went broke, along comes Mail.ru, snatches up the game and turns it towards more and more CS required. The FoD patch was the first patch courtesy of Mail.ru, then more and more and more. They don't care about the original idea, it wasn't enough to pay for the costs, they only try to make as much money from the game as possible.

It's nice at first, low levels can enjoy the game. But you hit the wall soon enough.

Typical bait and hook scheme now, though not a lot of people are willing to take the beating, because it is quite brutal and not really all that gradual. Nice diversion, but don't get any ideas about reaching endgame. There's not much to it anyway.

Waiting for Guild Wars 2, and maybe SWTOR until that time...

And to answer the question, CS required for end game. You can postpone visiting the CS with good guild and good party, but it's inevitable. It's impossible to reach end game without incense unless you have friends that are bent on carrying you there.

Waiting for Guild Wars 2, and maybe SWTOR until that time...

Oh gawd! When I played beta I knew that allods were kinda buggy but it wasnt a bad game, but after reading about those CS "improvements" only one thing comes to mind...
"My wage isnt high enough to afford free 2 play games"...

    IZI MODO?! Ha-ha-ha!

    Stoped to play this 5h1t.

Its an ABUSE. Completely Pay to Win game. The worst thing is that it will come to Brazil (by Level Up Games) before christmas, and a lot of people will be fooled again.

I fully support what Senadina said. Stop playing this 5h1t!

I personally played this game condoned this game supported its GM's but after the Gipat patch and further me, my guild, my allieds guilds have left this game in protest against the lies, the deciet and the trickery.

In my opinion and many others I feel someone needs to file a law suit, not only against this company but against any company that will use such lies, cunning acts, deciet and trickery to exploit their customers.

Bait and Switch is clearly an illegal activity which the company and the developers did to their customers.

I also believe that since we have laws, restrictions and guidelines for products that are sold, imported and exported. There MUST be laws to make sure companys like this are not allowed to criminally steal customers money with broken products.

Allods was glitchy and un finished before gipat and more bugs, glitches and bad programming were added to further PUSH customers into their cash shop.

Game companys need to be regulated its as simple as that.

I was ready and willing to put a butt load of money into Allods but I saw a major red flag go up the first time their "Publisher" and the HR lady went onto Massively.com and LIED to all their customers face to face.  Mitigated their actions and then LIED again.  And now when it went belly up and they realized OH MY GOD they realized we were trying to cheat them.  BOTH individuals are no longer working for that company.  BIG FRICKEN SURPRISE.

I say we are gamers, and we need to stop settling for garbage and rip offs and stand up for the money we are putting out.

If you did not see this coming you did not read the posts and threads that warned of this months ago.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

So lets face the fact in order to really ENJOY the game to its fullest extent..You need the Item Mall..

So they made it that you need the item mall..The game it self is free with limitation..So that really means the game is not free to play..Free to play is what it is..Free with no hold bars and no limtation..

If they really need money then they should a went Pay to play and stay out of the free to play market...

There is no F2P MMO that is F2P entirely. They have to make money somehow.

I do not see what the big whine fest is about except for the people that are too cheap or too poor to support their gaming addicton.

Free to play means you CAN play for free. It does not imply anything other than that. Everyone adding all these restrictions on a fairly simple definition are obviously not playing a game that meets their needs. Perhaps you should stick to Guild Wars or Diablo. A million dollar venture with massive bandwidth usage is not something that can sit around for free.

They don't make it pay to play because they want people to try out their game and see what it's all about. Having free users gives more content to the paying users. It's as simple as that. Be glad you can decide to drop the game without worrying about canceling a subscription or complaining that you just paid $50+ dollars for a DVD coaster and move on to something that fits you more.

In the end, it is their game and their money that is being spent to keep it running. It's up to them to decide what is best to get a return on investment. Of course, they could make a bad decision but I highly doubt this is one. Game companies come and go and the new companies coming after can choose to learn from those mistakes. So, if it fails, expect to see the next company do it better. If it doesn't fail, expect this to be the norm from now on for free to play games.

If they made better business choices they would not be required to take "extreme measures." How much are they making just off hand?

The P2P model leads to much, much more content. The F2P model is based on them finding things you need or want and then selling them to you, the P2P model is based on retaining you as a customer.  Look at how much content EVE and WoW have pushed out that was in-between ex-pacs? I'm will to bet the quality and quantity is more so on P2P than F2P.

Any business model that requires meeting a need and manufacturing said need is suspect. It's like selling crack.

You are correct there are no "entirely free" to play games out there.

most of us would agree.  The problem is when a company like Gpotato / Gala-net promises a "Completely FREE" to play game and gives details as to how they intend to keep it completely free to play.

giving NEEDED cash shop items with in game difficult quests.  This quote came from individuals whom "are no longer working for Gala-net / Gpotato.

the next problem was when Nephy would rule the forums with a tyranical iron fist and ban or give out forum warnings to anyone who quoted their "Sales Slogon" doing their best to try and HIDE all evidence and proof of their "BAIT" of their bait and switch tactics.

what they did was highly illegal.

I played prior to and after the patch. Prior to that patch the cash shop was ok, but a bit expensive as free-to-play-cash-shops go. After, it's just obscene. It would cost me $100 a month to maintain a similar level to prior to the patch and your damage and such was completely gutted without using the cash shop repeatedly. They destroyed the game with that patch, I've not bitched about it much except to friends, but I did what most non-independently wealthy people did-- I quit. They basically NGE'd the game with the cash shop, it's not quite accurate but it's the only way I can describe fairly the level of beating the game with the cash shop that occurred and level of detrimental effect it had. Potions ARE required, incense IS required, anything else is so slow its complete torture. Shrug. On the bright side, gpotato should be proud-- they finally matched a aaa developers biggest screw up (and probably one of the biggest in mmo history) in a completely new and novel way.

Edit: I Have to say allods prior to the patch was probably the most polished and well done f2p game out there. Pity another company who was a bit less greedy wasn't at the helm or they could have made a pretty absurd amount of money.

Edit 2: I've ran into dozens of old allods players in runes of magic lately, and the server loads are at an all time high (well except for the week after allods patch, it was higher then heh.) The game is good, not quite as good as allods (lacks allods polish) but at least the I don't feel like I'm being constantly raped by the cashshop (although it DOES make life a hell of a lot easier... perma mount and wings come to mind.)

most well polished game??   my guild and another did Heroics and Astral for months before the gipat patch and it was FURTHEST from well polished.

Feared through the allod, pushed through doors, mobs glitching resetting in heroics the list is gigantic.

it was a beautiful game but it was anything but polished. and they added more bugs glitches and bad programming at and after the gipat patch to cause more un game play related deaths to push their cash shop greed.
