We got to face the facts, FF11 had its flaws and with this new game coming, fan or not, were all going to have to try it atleast once.. Because square has always put such great time and effort into storytelling and graphics.
Its the only developer out that I know that has a high quality standard for all thier games like the final fantasy lines, and has always gone the extra mile on all thier series to make it truley unique.
So they are going to have my support, and my money. This thing is going to be golden even if it is going to be a timesink endgame.

launch is 2 months away as we speak, the classes are yawn, the combat is bleh, oh and they cant even get the beta running. Yet this is supposed to be the game we are waiting for? Color me unimpressed. AOC launch looks like best possible scenario imo, and thats being generous
The combats bleh cause your lowlevel and don't have many skills yet, the beta works fine. The login servers having some issues that they are fixing which is the point of beta, the game works fine though.
I have no plans in the least to try FFXIV, much like I never had any desire to bother with FFXI. I've never had a desire to play any of the Final Fantasy games. Many of the innovations that FF had early on for consoles, had already been done on PC.
There is no arguing that the commercials for the games are pretty - but not pretty enough for me to have bought a console for them.
Pong, Atari, Intellivision, Colecovision... were just kind of randomly bought. The original 8bit Nintendo for Super Mario Bros. The Sega Genesis for 16bit and Sonic. After that, it was basically just a case of buying consoles for fighting games - the only reason that I got the original PlayStation. Heck, bought the Dreamcast for SoulCalibur and the X-Box for DoA. Never bought another console after the X-Box.
RPGs, FPS, RTS, etc - were always superior on the PC. The only games that were superior on a console were fighting games.
So yeah, can definitely see anybody that has been a fan of Final Fantasy giving the game a shot - it is a bit much to say everybody is going to do so...

If you dont think these minor things will be fixed I have to point you to FFXI, they fix thier games no matter what and they got it right.
Look at Level sync for example, No mmo would put in a whole new system on how you level because of the cost and time it would take, but square did it. Proof enough for me.
yea and they might ddelay if they have 2. but square has decent coders
its true , your few posts here are about how bad conan is... Rumors, I can tell you havent played AOC since its first month of launch because if you had, it would knwo it runs fine, unless your running a PC driven by hamsters.
We know your a conan hater no need to spread it how much you hate it on these forums, now you wanan ruin FF14, maybe MMO's arent for you and your hamster driven PC...
Makes me allways wonder why people that have no interest in the FFXIV game come to these FF XIV boards?
If i have no interest in a game, i don't read their boards on a regular base.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
In this case the hater probably responded because the title of this thread is a huge generalization... "Let's face it We're going to love it"!!??? Who is this we that he speaks of? Is the 'hater' included in that we, are you, am I?
Those arent minor problems at the least.
As for level sync, didn't EQ2 already have that before FF?
Like I said before a couple days of maintenance with a technical issue that has been resolved. Really sounds like it does not work to me. Been playing since alpha been pretty damn smooth and lots of improvements made like expected.
Pick another FFXIV thread to post the same exact useless comment.
Also, explain how the classes are yawn? Because they do not pamper alpha/beta testers with all their extra classes before release? That is good business right? Blow everything you got from the start. LOL give me a break.

Not to sound rude but this is a discussion board and anyone is free to write how they fell as long as it follows the sites rules. Also, just because the threads named something doesnt mean we all have to go like "YES, I'M DEFINITELY GOIN TO LOOSE MY LIFE WHEN THIS GAME COMES OUT, SQUARE ENIX ROCKS!!@!@!@".
Why do I like XI and probably going to end up liking just as much or even more?
They're unconventional. They're not going to blindly follow the "MMO standards" to just make the quick buck. To some degree they will listen to the fans, but most of the time they'll go through with what they believe is best in the long run. Like a lot of figures in history, being the black sheep draws a lot of negative stuff their way.

Indeed, everyone playing FFXIV will play because they love the game. It's either you hate it or love it type
I'm with popinjay here (even though I base all my game choices on VirusDancer).
I'm quite interested to read legitimate moans about the game, but what exactly is the point of someone posting that they have no interest in the game. That isn't discussion it is just a troll post. It's just a waste of time.
So this post isn't a similar waste of time I'd like to add that I surely hope I'll love this game as much as FFXI. I'm kinda worried I'm looking forward to it too much, which can breed disappointment, but time will tell.
On another note, it's interesting how this forum was such a friendly and civil place at launch, but now the haters and attention seekers have moved in. Pity there isn't a DarkFall expansion coming up to distract them. The good news is that in 3 months they'll have gone.
Eh, let's face it this game obviously isn't going to appeal to a lot of mmorpg players. Or even Final Fantasy fans.
Same setting as XI, which a lot of people hated. Same races with roughly double the limited customization is a huge detractor. It's going to be an extremely liner game, which a lot of people can deal with but why would they leave their already liner game to try this one? A confusing class system and a lot of bad press about a slow and dated combat system. Sure it's been said here that it's been addressed, but as a reader of magazine articles and other site's information the changes the beta testers said have happened just sound like a polish of the system that was tested and reported about. That'll be noticable.
Instances seem to be a bigger part of this game, again I don't think the majority minds this. But a lot of upcoming MMOs are actually bragging about having less. Which sell point matters most, I can't seem to find reason to care.
I believe people who could deal with XI are going to like having a 2.0 game. Some new people may jump on board at first.
250k subs by this time next year would be surprising to me. The PS3 is this game's major hope.

This! In fact, I'd go so far as to say threads like are intentionally looking to draw in haters so the fans of the game can bemoan the fact they are being "trolled." Not like the OP contained any real information as to why I might like it. (and I'm part of the we)
The promise of doing something different, coupled with a return to camp grinding is actually what attracts me to this game.
The OP was right about one thing, I'm probably going to buy this no matter what just to see what the fuss is about.

I think if you go into the game with an open mind it will be a time sink. Sadly players of other games tend to troll these types of thread, but there you go.This thread is kind of like flypaper (Trollpaper?) You hang it up to attract the flies that end up stuck to it so that there will be less flies buzzing around while your trying to eat your food.

Not really a case of hating the game. Did not state that the game sucks and that nobody will like it. The thread showed up on the main page stating everybody is going to love it. I hate generalizations like that. Even stated that in my post, along with the belief that the game should definitely appeal to those who have followed the franchise. Did not really see anybody trolling the thread. I have no desire to play the game, but I can see where people would love it as the OP states. Did not call those people idiots, children, etc, etc. Some folks are pretty touchy it appears.

Let me just start by saying I am very interested in FF14, I have been able to play in Alpha (during my 3 hr block a week) and was not all that impressed. I dont really like the class choices, although if there are more coming that would be great, but those would need to be balanced in a beta somehow.
As for the Conan lover, my hatred of AOC has nothing to do with how it runs on my system, I never had a running issue, I had a gameplay issue, and the fact that I played 4 months from launch and saw nothing done to improve the endgame or gear situation. Nothing was complete except Tortage at launch. I am just hoping more of FF14 is complete. I am not a hater nor a fanboi, just trying to be objective
