Does anyone know if they have for sure confirmed this? The fishing in FFXI was AWESOME. Please tell me they are having the same/better fishing system in this one??

There are cat people in this game! That should suffice.
One of the harvesting classes they have listed is fisher, so yea fishing will be there. No clue on the mechanics behind it though.
Cooking is one of the crafting classes as well, so those two probably work well together
who cares about cooking and cats.....as long as there is fishing im set. I HIGHLY doubt I will even kill a single mob in this game. Its all about the fish man
They surely will have fishing and even the little info we have on races says so as well.

These netpullers put their all into everything having to do with fishing. With their fishing rods, they are masters of surf-, river- and boat-fishing, taking into account the season, time, and weather when choosing their tools, fishing points and bait. Since their occupation takes them to many interesting but dangerous places, it is not out of the ordinary to hire a discipline of war as an escort.
