Just Wondering

From what I have read so far the benchmark for FF14 does not seem very accurate.  I will say im posting this because im not very computer smart when it comes to hardware and none of my friends really are either, so I was hoping someone wouldn't mind giving me some suggestions.  The score I recieved on the benchmark was only 875 but I think my computer is pretty good.  I seem to think I just need a new graphics card.  I do think in the end I will be playing this on my ps3 but I really would love to jump into the game when it releases on PC since I did preorder it.  So anyway here are my specs and thanks in advance for any help.

HP elite 9600

AMD Phenom 9750 Quad-Core 2.40 GHz

8.00 GB

ATI Radeon HD 3650

Vista 64 bit Home Premium

Your computer should run the game fine on reduced settings according to the recent beta requirements.

Budget is the determining factor behind upgrading, so please let us know so we can make appropriate recommendations.

    Hmm..

I'm not terribly well-informed about ATI products, but your graphics card seems to be two generations out of date, and on top of that is a budget GPU at the bottom of it's product line.  This game has pretty high system reqs for an MMORPG (though nothing out of the ordinary for a new PC game in general), I'd think about upgrading it, you can get a mid-range current-gen ATI GPU for less than $200, far cheaper than anything worth buying from NVidia these days.

Also, being an HP it's probably came loaded with resource-hogging crap you'll never use (HP is notorious for this, I doubt they've changed in the last couple years).  Also do you have a lot of taskbar apps installed or anything else like that that could slow your system down?

Well, im in the middle of some home remodeling and just bought a 55 inch tv (why i want to play it on ps3 lol) so i would say no more then $300 and $400.  On a side note I am thinking of upgrading to windows 7 for sure.

Hey there, your rig looks fairly similar to mine, but you do need an upgrade to the vidoe card. I built mine myself, just ran out of money for the video. I'll be upgrading mine during next tax season. I plan on putting in and additional 12 gigs ram and 2 nvidia 480 gtx's. I currnetly have an older 8800 gt, and the benchmark gave me around 2800, so, a simple upgrade to the video should make yours run clean and smooth.

Thanks for all the info guys!!!!! fyi my task bar is pretty clean I went through that when I first bought the computer the only thing on it is my internet conection icon and bluethooth adapter icon for my keyboard.  But I will check agian to make sure nothing else is running slowing things down.

Throw in a HD5850 and you'll hit the 300$ mark. I just installed one (overclocked to 850/1125) and it runs super. Helped boost up my High score to 4426.
