    FPS games - 800x600 with 100hz/120hz

    All other games - 1280x1024 with 85hz

<- Oldschool gamer who can't get used to LCD/TFT monitors

1920x1080/16:9/2ms/100000:1ACM is maxed out for example Mass Effect 2

    But,

Not all games will run fine with that type of res., For example running max settings with Fallen Earth though my res. in FE is 1600x900 wide on a 250GTX card.

But most single/multiplayer games run fine on max res.

24'' Samsung in 1920x1080. You should make a poll or something to get things flowing.

I'm on a crappy 15" LCD monitor with a max resolution of 1024x768. I DID have a nice 21" widescreen at 1680x1050, but it burned out (last time I buy a Viewsonic, thing was only 2 years old). At least I had this one for a spare, I can't really afford to buy a new one ATM.

I tend to vary, but 1600 x 1200 is a favourite. Its not just about the detail of the resolution but the proportions of the avatars as well. I find higher resolutions on some games makes the toons look rather odd, too thin or too fat.

24" Samsung 1920x1200. I could never go smaller again. I thought it was too big when I first got it but once I got used to it I could never go smaller. I will probably get a bigger one next time XD.

5760 x 1080 (games that support eyefinity) or 1920 x 1200 (games that only support one monitor).

    "Would that be too much?"

The only time this would be the case is if your video card can't support the native resolution.  If you buy a big 1920x1200 but only have a mid-range video card, you may have to turn down the resolution, and then it will look worse than running natively on a 1680x1050.  It won't be significant, however, so if you are planning on a future videocard upgrade you may as well spend a few more bills and get the better screen.

The more I think about it, I don't recommend 1680x1050 because it's just a little too narrow for 2 apps side by side, and too wide for most single apps.  (disregard if its purely for gaming)  If you don't mind turning AA very low, or off, and disabling dynamic lighting and shadows, you can run pretty high resolution on an outdated card.  Even with textures still on high.

I was playing on my 1920x1080p tv for a while, but am happier with my 1920x1200 monitor.  I'm really liking the 16:10 aspect ratio, as 16:9 seemed a little too wide, 4:3 is too square.  All personal preference though, so try it out firsthand if possible at a store or a friends system.

Fullscreen at 1680x1050, or windowed at random sizes.

"Traditionally, massively multiplier online games have been about three basic gameplay pillars – combat, exploration and character progression. In Alganon, in addition to these we've added the fourth pillar to the equation: Copy & Paste."

26" LG LCD running at 1920 X 1200 and stuff looks great.

Just make sure your video card(s) have the horsepower to support a bigger screen with higher resolution.
