F2P with depth and variety?

PhesePhese Member Posts: 22

So I was looking for something new to waste my time with...

I'd like a game with the following characteristics:

-Many classes (Ranger, Mage, Fighter games I'm looking at you ...) or at least subclasses.

-Depth in character creation and customization (different looks, different specs, selection of gear)

-Group play should be encouraged or even forced.

-Grind is not a problem at all.

-Asian or cartoonish graphics are not a problem either!

-Pay2Win is ok, but you should able to enjoy the game up to Midlevel wihout paying serious money.

The Setting (fantasy, sci-fi etc.) doesn't really matter!

So basically I'm looking for a nice game to spend some time with, where everybody doesn't look and spec the same, where you can have a good chunk of content without paying and have options to do something in the game besides solo quest grinding. Bonus if it runs on a Netbook !

Any advice?

I strongly encourage Mabinogi. It has a very large character customization (especially when it comes to clothing). Armor in Mabinogi is used more for the look than it's stats. There are no classes, you use the skills you want and can unlock more as you play.  Mabinogi has a very good depth to it, with a good storyline filled with cutscenes, minor plot twists and such, various mini-games to crafting, etc.

Grouping is strongly recommanded. It isn't necessary for the first few dungeons, but will be very important later on. Mabinogi has a different gameplay-style compared to the typical MMORPG, it's more of a "rock-paper-scissor" system for melee combat, but add Archery and Magic to the group.

Anarchy Online. No item mall, huge in depth customization, encouraged grouping, no solo questing.

I played AO during release, but I'm curious what there is group wise these days?

    Dunjeon Fightero!

5 (current) classes break into about 17 advanced ones that actually play completely different.

Everyone looks the same from the onset, but if you dump money into avatars (or wait till endgame to save in-game money to buy them) you'll find there is literally *tons* of unique looks you can go for.

The entire game is about grouping, the only time you solo is for item farming.

You *will* repeat mid-level dungeons about 20+ times, but I get over it because it's a blast.

    Anime-style graph-x

It's only pay to win when it comes to boosts on the avatars, but the actual gear itself is much more important. Don't expect to win high level PvP without +12 weapons (takes a lot of luck and in-game money to achieve that).

I can't explain the setting... pretty much "anime cliche".

I'm having a blast with it, though I spent 10$ on the random avatar BSery (gachapon) and felt I totally wasted it. ATM I am just trying to max out a char in order to farm for items I can sell on the new AH in order to buy avatar items off other players.

Dungeons, mob camps, team missions, etc. If you play make sure you go on the first server, mostly everyone groups but the population is kinda low.

Sounds like my kind of MMO. Too bad the graphics are even worse than Runescape's.
