At least some of the waiting is over for fans of 38 Studios (the company founded by former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling with fantasy author R.A. Salvatore and comic legend Todd McFarlane) as Marketwatch.com has announced the title of the company’s first game: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
Check out the official site, here and read a bit of commentary by MMORPG.com's Jon Wood.

Nice, now we wait for the 22nd!
Uhm... a page with a name and a date for a trailer. That's all?
Typo in the name of the company. I doubt its 38 Suudios. I think that "t" snuck away and left a poor imposter for you to use in its place.
Yay!! I have that day off. I wonder how many times I can watch it before my eyes begin to bleed. *drool*
Currently Playing: Nothing...I'm developing.
Looking Forward To:
Great news. Can't wait to see the trailer.
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
R.A Salvatore is a very poor novel writer....bleh
I see a bad and cheesy story

Cinematic?
Doesn't look like they plan to show us a trailer, but a cgi short.

At least give it a fair look before deciding?? Btw, he's only been a NYT bestselling author for how many years now? Obviously, many hold a different opinion than you. Just sayin' ^^
pie.
Oh, hope this is good.

Steam: Neph
You're an angry teenage goth who hates Stephanie Meyer because you like to be non-conformist. And since Twilight is the biggest consumer phenomenon since the toaster, you're going to trash her writing even though you've never even touched one of her books.
I don't like Twilight. Yet, even I acknowledge Stephanie Meyer's writing talent. Do you think she enraptured thousands of little girls (and even some adults) by writing poorly? You may not like the subject matter, but that doesn't mean the writing isn't there.
Salvatore created one of the most recognizable fantasy characters in the history of fantasy novels: Drizzt Do'urden. He also wrote some of the best selling fantasy novels of all time.
Try being a little bit better critic next time. No one really cares what you say, since you come off as an angsty, hateful, little boy who does nothing with his spare time other than trash works of art that you can't pull off yourself.
On-topic: I'm not too excited for this, mostly because i didn't know it existed up until this point.
ROFL i doubt teenager girls buy the twilight for the quality of the writing. They buy it to be "like omg edward"
Stephanie Meyer's books are really badly written, sure they sell but she can't write for shit. Especially in the later books, the writing gets even worse.
The phrase "open-world RPG" was used in the Marketwatch.com article. I very much like that term, I think it is a more accurate description tan "MMO". After all, MMOs were made that way primarly for profitablility, but their roots are the fantasy novel, a very much single-person experience about a single protagonist.
"OWRPG". I think I like it!
Have played: Everquest, Asheron's Call, Horizons, Everquest2, World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online, Warhammer, Age of Conan, Darkfall
Must....contain....fanboy......rage.....ARGHHHHHHH!
I'll sub to this game for at least 6 months just to support what's going into it. Forgotten Realms was the only D&D fiction I cared for, was a huge fan of Schilling when he played and have a ton of Todd McFarlane's work. I've been following this since news first broke and am inspired by what Schilling is doing. I admire the fact that he loves the genre so much he wanted to put everything he has, (including his entire fortune), into this venture. He is doing what any of us would do if we had the money. I can't wait to see what they have to offer!
First of all. Stephenie Meyer IS IN FACT A HORRIBLE EXCUSE FOR A NOVLIST. I would rather drudge through a star wars book written by Salvatore then ever try to read a twilight book. She can't disenguish conversations like a real writer can. You never even know what the main character (Bella) looks like. Even Master Chief gets some facial air time in the book written by Nylund. Personal opinion but lituratre has been dumbed down thanks to our television standards. Thus Meyer is able to easily get her shitty vampire love novels sold (I have read an actual romance novel about vampires and it was in fact better written then her garbage) Secondly trying to hurl insults on the internet is useless. I happen to know sgt frog and he is niether teenage nor goth. But appernetly if you don't like her writing you are. Way to go you are about as smart as her fan base. Do us all A favour and go read something worth reading like "All quiet on the Western Front."
I apologize for the grammar and spelling I am far too angry to check it at the current time.
this! thanks para

And to add just because NYT says you're a bestseller DOES NOT MEAN IT IS ACTUALLY GOOD. It means that your shitty books are selling to ignorant fucking idiots who couldn't possibly appreciate real literature.
Good job, Corporal Hypocrisy.
I like RA Salvatore's books. Thought he wrote a good story about Drizzit Do'Urden.
oooo I like it *changes steam name*
which is why he should be eternally ignored.
