World of Warcraft!!! Can't say too much else on it, the blasted game is a grindfest...Gear Grind, Daily quest grind, Money Grind, Profession materials grind, Work your rear off, sorry (Ground my rear off) to get to level 80 to do what?? Grind for Gear to create Dps, Nothing more than bragging rights to say oh look how much I did?? please lol....then you bust rear at 80 doing the same instances over and over and over again to do what?? Grind for Gear!! Just to get that gear to top notch to do what after that? Raid!! but for what?? oh man...more gear!! woot! Man talk about exciting woohoo....yes I'm flaming the game and yes I played it when it first came out and just recently quit it, only stayed in to play with friends. So anyways yeah, that in my opinion is "TOO" much grinding just to keep running for gear upgrades.
lmao
sorry mate but yours is the first comment i stumbled on when i clicked this thread and i just had to smile.
WoW is one of the most spoon fed, casuall friendly, easy sauce mmo out there right now. there is almost no grind in this game anymore. you can take a char to level 80 in 5 days and get him fully purpled out in one other 5 days if you really wanted to. sure there used to be a bit of grind way back in the day but not anymore.
Try Aion, or Lineage or even DF if you want to see some reall grind.

Welcome to themepark MMO's where everything is a grind . It's just a matter of enjoying the grind ( a grind isn't always bad) , if you don't , than ye , quit. You seem like a sandboxer, why did you waste your time on WoW?^^
Yeah you are right, I am more the sandboxer type of person but there really isn't any good sandbox games out that I know of at least, and yeah I can agree that a grind isn't always bad....But if that is all you do day in day out to accomplish anything in the game such as I posted above then I don't see much in a game of that type. As far as why I wasted my time with WoW. Like any game it had some points to it that were tolerable that I kind of liked but the major part for me was my friends, I stayed to play with them and they for the most part kept me interested.

lol no I Totally agree that WoW has become very spoon fed, as far as how easy it is to get gear and so on...but my point that I was trying to make is you still have to spend hours doing it over and over and over....all the same instances/raids/bosses etc etc just to get that gear and that is the grind that I speak of....repetative. As far as Aion and Lineage I have played both of those as well and yes I do agree with you on those as well.

Well , it's all a matter of how you look at it. And i guess you also suffer from the fact you've played it too long. When i started wow i wasn't focused on earning exp and so on. I was enjoying discovering new areas, killing new mobs , getting new fancy gear , testing new skills , etc... Off course if you're focused on the grind part it's getting boring and from personal experience when you start doing so is when you've actually played the game too much and need a break from it . And let's not forget the ultimate grind breaker: Roleplay! often underestimated but again, from personal experience , an effective grind-breaker. I remember when i was leveling my third alt to 80 i was getting bored of the doing those same quests for the 2nd or third time , killing those mobs i've already killed with my other chars, going through zones i already knew, etc... and thus i decided to roleplay : no more killing mobs because it was written on the quest log . Nono it was killing mobs because i was the revenge-ful shaman who went nuts and decided to pull lots of mobs and AoE them to death . (PS: when i roleplay its often unrelated to the lore, i just think of a little backstory myself ) . But even that has its limits , sometimes i'm just not in the mood to roleplay (i barely roleplay and i mostly start doing it when i get bored )

Really, what does "TOO MUCH GRINDING" in a MMORPG genre really mean?
It means my character is at a certain level, and I've run out of quests, so now I'm left with killing mobs over and over to gain exp.
It means a type of gear progression where I have to do the same raids over and over and over and over just to get upgraded. It means a type of gear progression where I got to group every night to grind in a dungeon, over and over, just for a rare chance I would get the piece I need.
It means I've done 100 quests and I still haven't leveled yet, wtf?!
It means I have to exp forever even at cap level just to get new abilities, a la EQ1's AA system.
It means reputation/faction grind, enough said.
It means a type of progression where you got to obtain keys for everybody so you can access a certain content. Zones are essentially locked behind key progression quests. So if this is for a raid, you got to make sure you key everybody in order to fit enough people to even start a raid. This means you would have to re-key everybody new that comes into your guild, or replacements for people who left, so you can even raid.

lol too true on the fact that I suffer from playing it too long. But aside all that I guess one thing that is kind of the stinker is that there isn't many good games out to be honest and I'm just a gamer at heart, hence why I stuck with WoW for so long. As far as your Roleplay idea yeah that would be cool....only problem for me is I like to RP with other people so that would end up boring me as well because hardly anybody rp's on WoW.....us old time RP'ers are considered the geeks rofl. But in any case I'm waiting for my ultimate game that I'm extremely excited about...but again being a gamer I hate to wait lol but that's all good...Good things come to those who wait I suppose

Yup , i'm the same boat as you, waiting for the perfect MMO to come out. Meanwhile i'll just enjoy BC2 and Company of Heroes and soon Civ V ^^
