SE Credit Card policy

tgun4510tgun4510 Member Posts: 11

I have a question regarding SE's credit card policy.  A while back I had just gotten into FFXI and they changed their system to require a security feature on CC/Debit cards used (I believe it was something about 3-d security or something like that).  A feature my bank doesn't offer so I had no choice but to stop playing.

Is Square-Enix still using this system in FFIV or has it not been decided yet.  I would like to play this game when it comes out but need to know if my choice of bank will prevent it.

Sounds odd, did you even bother contacting SE or your bank to sort this out or did you just give up on it? I doubt SE would like to lose alot of customers just because their bank doesn't have that certain security-thingie.

If it comes down to it and it's the same in FFXIV I think you should just get in touch with SE first to see if there's any way so solve it.

When they enabled it I went to a website to check my cards.  All of my CC options whether or not they are debit or credit didn't have the feature.  I will go to SE website and look the knowledge base there and see if there is any mention of it or possible resolutions.

lol have you ever bought anything online before?  That number is needed by Amazon, Best Buy, etc.  I can't think of the last time I didn't need my security number.

Most major credit cards will have this right on the card.  Usually a small number after your credit card number off to the side, and sometimes on the back of the credit card itself.  If your card is through Visa or Mastercard, you should have this number on the card.  This is a typical security feature on most sites/services, when you are billing electronically through a credit card.

    No this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-D_Secure

Visa version is called "Verified by Visa"

    Mastercard is called "SecureCode"

I hope they aren't using it for FFXIV, cause my card doesn't support it.

IT IS NOT THE 3 DIGIT CSV NUMBER ON THE BACK OF THE CARD! I spent several minutes on the phone with BOA when they implemented this and they had no clue what I was talking about. The 3-D secure feature is something that exists but very few financial institutions in the states know anything about it. After all else failed I called POL support who took a few minutes to "do their magic" and I was good. I suggest you call POL support. They will have you on hold FOREVER and it's not a toll free #.

SE is not using POL for FFXIV so I think this issue will stay with FFXI players.

no I am aware of that and I appreciate your politeness unlike the poster below you.  I was refering to Square Enix requiring a different type of security described here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-D_Secure

Thanks for trying to help but I managed to find some help on the issue in the knowledge base articles on their website.

Try putting in your credit card information without it.  I was able to and did not have to go to the verified by anything sites.

I ran into this as well, definetly wont play 14 if they use this and dont make time cards.

I sincerely hope they don't have it for 14, I was unable to play 11 because none of my credit cards qualified to even get a SecureCode.

Would pretty much be locking me out of the game :V

When I originally played XI they didn't have 3-D Secure. I quit for a few years and tried to come back a few months ago and found this new requirement. Sadly my credit card didn't have it, so I couldn't come back. I truly hope XIV does not use this abyssmal system.
