I decided to make an account today to see if people are still alive and interrested in TSW.

I mean, I haven't seen a new or interresting thread for a while now, and even their own forums are dead. The community is barly active. Can't even recall the last time we got some new info / anything from funcom.

It feels like after they let out their "gameplay" video, they just "vanished"?

Sure, they are apparently gathering user questions here but how long does that take?

I guess I'm just needy, but this game is really under my skin! I love the theme, the settings!

I mean, the possibilites are endless!

What do you guys think? Am I just being impatient? (Yes I am, duh.)

Gaming is a passion.

The official forums are always full of activity. Isn't that the always best place to talk to players about upcoming games? also i don't think you are being impatient just excited. Its very natural;)

    Maybe .. :P

Guess I'm just a sucker for new posts & new information.

And yeah, excited like a kid again.

Personally I'm really looking forward to E3, we will probably get a lot of new information. :3

I hear ya dude, there has been a lack of info for the past month and i thought they were opening the floodgates; I'm still wiaitng on a decent gameplay vid!

Yar, we do need some gameplays vids. There really isn't too much out there in regards to TSW. However, I have faith in the game being pretty good simply because of Dreamfall.

Lots of stuff going on with their other game.

I would put my money on them announcing something after the new expansion for AoC is out.

Oh and for all you super excited folks out there.  Remember anarchy and aoc at launch.  Unless you can take a rough ride wait and see.  It gets old having perma-haters out there because they bit on all the hype and expected a perfect game at lunch, and got a early beta phase game.

    Just sayin'

I've been searching and searching recently for new info too. Anyways, some brief gameplay footage here if you wanna see: http://www.mmorpgvideos.com/The-Secret-World/gameplay.html

Official forums are still discussing threads that were created 12 months ago. They aren't really "full of activity".

Funcom have massively dropped the ball on the PR for TSW. It does appear that they came out waaaaaay too early and simply were not prepared to back the initial gameplay video releases with some solid game info. If nothing is yet set in stone then don't begin cranking the hype machine up.

I love everything about the game so far but to be honest it has almost totally dropped off my radar. I am now following another MMO as my number one hope for finding a game that I will be able to play for a few years. Sorry Funcom but I am just not sure if TSW will even be able to make it back on my agenda.

I honestly hope the game does well and eventually comes out with a great release. I sincerely hope that this PR deadzone has not hurt their chance of a large initial subscriber base too much because even if I decide not to play it (based on whether GW2 delivers) I hope it is successful.

It's been quiet since their information flood in March, around the GDC.

Earlier announcements indicated that TSW would be released at earliest in the last quarters of 2011, after MMO's like SW:TOR and GW2 will be released. I guess it's a wait and see.

I did like the TSW ARG's though, were a great idea, just as the Kingsmouth website and litle hints and twitters regarding it.

The Secret World community is great. The ARGs were a fantastic idea to generate interest and attract the kind of people interested in the game well prior to any real game info being available. Remember the ARGs have been going for almost 3 years now.

I just think they should have waited to start talking about the specifics of gameplay or show in game footage and instead kept up with the fun ARGs to keep the community active and slowly growing.

Now, not only has any game information stopped but the ARGs have as well. Of course Ragnar posts some random stuff on twitter every now and then but a LOT of people could not be interested in using twitter so it's not a good medium for PR for the game.

I don't think that the silence from the devs means the game is in trouble or anything like that. I just think that their information campaign has been really really ill advised.

No news is good news? Not in prelaunch MMOs it isn't.

I guess they learned a thing or two after AoC, and are "calming the hype" or keeping it under control during production. AoC was video shown 3 years prior to launch, and had *alot* of video footage and talking around it, but there is no secret that all wanted stuff made it to launch for various reasons.

I would have done as Funcom has done it (almost) with showing little before its more ready, it gives them more control, and more damage control, if some things they wanna do, don make it to launch. They just don`t have to mention it the gamers.

The part about revealing it in 2007 I guess is part PR, and part company releated due to unforseen Age of conan quality. If AoC went better, TSW would surley have sped up production earlier.

I made a thread a few days ago, didnt get much reception.  I really am excited by this game, about the only mmo Im excited for.  Not to be sexist but does any one else see the man with the large shoulders for the games picture?

You made a thread on the official forums?

And what man with large shoulders are you referring to? image

Not much news, eh? Wonder what that means.

I tell myself its a sign that the developers are too busy actually working on the game, as opposed to making the rounds with all the press people and hyping it up.

The reality is probably less that and more feet dragging.

There's a lot of booooooring writing and coding to be done to fill a game with content.  They gave us some early info, just enough to get a little bit of hype, and now they're back at work on it.  Sure, I'd like to get some news on the game, but I want REAL news of REAL progress.  If I have to wait, then I'm willing.

  • ArnuphisArnuphis Member Posts: 103

If they've learnt anything from past mistakes, then they will let the hype machine die down until they have a stable product close to launch status.

    *fingers crossed*
