The little race. Do you play these?

Quite a few mmos include a cute, mini, childish little stupid looking race. And for some reason they always have big smiles and giggle a lot. I'm wondering why people choose to play as these races. Let me give you a few examples:
WoW - Gnome
LotRO - Hobbit
Allods - Gibberlings
Upcoming Games:
TERA - Popori (christ... nice name)
FFXIV - Lalafell (sigh... again with the Teletubbies name?)
Guild Wars 2 - Asura (decent name I guess)
Do you / will you play as one of these races and why?

Well, I like some of them and don't care for others. I have no preference for having a "small" character - actually it's quite the contrary, I fall down cliffs way too often with a small race. :P Though if I like the lore behind them, I can easily roll one.
Hobbits are cool. I get the whole idea behind them and their way of life, and they don't seem so silly to me. Though admittedly I'm not really a fan of their looks.
Goblins are usually tons of fun for me. Must be something about their attitude. I loved the goblins in WAR. I'll at least try the goblin race in any RPG I play.
Gnomes, hmm... I remember some pretty funny, witty gnomes in the old single player RPGs, but I don't like WOW's interpretation of them. I could also imagine rolling a svirfneblin (dark gnome), they were really interesting in the Dark Elf trilogy books.
Asura seem a bit reminiscent of the WOW gnomes, but look better. I also like the "thirst for knowledge" angle (which, admittedly, almost all gnomes including those in WOW also had).
Popori & Lalafell: No way.
To me, they come across as designed to be cute just for the sake of it.
Meh , i never liked the little races , they just look so silly in combat situations . But i'm also the boring guy who always takes Humans

Never been a huge fan of playing diminutive humanoid characters. Always have gravitated to either normal or larger races. Humans, Elves that sorta thing. Never had any issues teaming with people playing gnomes and such but just didn't see the appeal myself.
I think its their at times disproportionate bodies make them look like children with a large head or something to that effect. Only way I can describe it..
Yes, I play them. I like small, cute things. I'm not saying all girls like them, but maybe more than guys. And if I wanted to psychoanalyze myself, as a gay woman, maybe some of their asexualness appeals to me too.
Back when I played DAOC it was actually harder to target and hit small characters at range, especially in a group so it was advantageous to make your characters as small as possible, especially if they were mages.
So I still tend to play small races or create smallest humanoid model for pvp advantages, but I find in games like Aion the advantage wasn't much. (if any)

I don't like the ones that look like children with big eyes and heads. I am RPing a warrior, or a battlehardened magician, cyborg etc. Dwarves usually look tough and adult, don't mind that. Usually about weapons, training, and maturity, not like short humans can't kick ass in RL. I mean Napoleon was......omg.....tried to look up Napoleon's height. He wasn't short. It was bad news reporting....Anyway....Popori lolz fail

Yeah i play the small races, mainly to hide easier. Also like choosing unpopular races.

Small races don't really appeal to me. I tend to pick a human or elf that seems to be a medium height. I never liked very short or very tall.
Maybe it's because I'm average height myself, or maybe it's because I've seen how our society treats small people. It's not something I would aspire too, or create for myself if given a choice.
Yeah, I just tend to chose the race I think would be the least popular as long as it doesn't hurt me. I played a Gnome in WoW and I tried to play a Troll, but they are gimped so I switched to Tauren. I also played Gibberlings in Allods for the short time I played. If I played Tera, I would be Popori, but when I play FF14 & GW2, I'm probably not going to play Lalafell or Asura.
Idk. I just like to play races that are more rare than the others.

Lalafel are the only reason why I even considered FFXIV. And the only reason why I'm waiting till cataclysm to go back to retail WoW are gnome priests (cos mage are made of fail now - up to debate I'm sure).
Sometimes it's good to offer a choice outside of "Tits or Pecs?"
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein
