So am I the only one who got decent support from Blizzard?

There's a rather popular thread below with many complaints that Blizzard's customer support with regards to account hacking is horrible.  Based on my recent experience with Blizzard, I believe that these reports on Blizzard's support are completely exaggerated, if not complete fabrications made by people who for some reason just plain hate Blizzard.

About a week ago, I realized my battle.net account was hacked... I couldn't log in nor could I reset my password.  I sent an email to Blizzard's account management, filled out the form... got a form response that said "We're looking into it... give us a few days because we're a little backed up."  I'm not playing WoW at the moment, and I don't have my copy of SC 2 yet so I figured I'd be patient.

This morning I received an email from Blizzard support that told me my account had indeed been hacked, and they have reset my password.  Being the Cautious Cathy that I am, I log on to the battle.net website via my bookmark in Firefox rather than the email link, then followed the email's instructions.  Sure enough, I get a prompt to enter in a new password.  I now have full access to my battle.net account and it took less than 7 days.

My WoW account is still locked due to the breach, but I also received an email regarding THAT account which should be unlocked (though still inactive) in a couple of days.

I guess the moral of the story is... be patient!  image

I personally know two people who got hacked and actually ended up with MORE than before the accounts got hacked. It is a campaign of lies conducted on this board which is heavily biased against WoW that is posting the lies here.

Both people now use authenticators, and no more problems.

If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)

I posted in the other topic about the 5 days i had been waiting with only "we are looking into it reply."

My update and bit of advice is call the account customer service.  I just picked up red dead redemption so i messed with that and put the number in my cell and kept redialing till the message went from "sorry our queue is full" to "please stay on the line your call wait time is approximately 44 minutes".  Put the phone on speaker played my game and about 50 minutes in i got a human being!!!   She unlocked my account within 10 minutes (couple security questions of course) and was in game later that night when i was able to finally put red ded redemption down.

the customer service rep did tell me something that I did not know and shed a little light on the situation.  Apparently, after receiving a good amount of hack fix requests from players, they froze all accounts that were not active. I hadn't played in about 6 monthes and explains why mine is locked as well as others who are comming back to the game. I am not going to speculate why they did it, i'm just saying that's the explanation i got.   It made me feel a bit better that i wasn't the target of a hacker, but rather, my account was locked because if i wasn't using it, they wanted to make sure nobody was using it. I logged in and sure enough all my toons were just how i left them.

That actually makes sense and maybe it's what happened to me.  I can say with 100% certainty that I do not have any keyloggers or spyware on my computer (seeing as how I played WoW exclusively on my Macbook Pro).

I've had like 3 issues with them and had them all handled ont he same day.

Like a few others I had my account hacked after somehow my 'email' log in got leaked. But it was restored and so were my characters sans their gear, which I didn't mind since I hadn't played in a year anyway. Nice to know they're there tho'.

That was the most extreme case. For awhile I had the 'everytime I log in I'm falling through the world, can a GM please kill me so I can spawn somewhere decent' problem. But it was always generally fixed in a few minutes.

I kill other players because they're smarter than AI, sometimes.
