Will /dance actually work this time?
I remember when FFXI first launched and amid wandering around Windurst for the first time talking to every, and I mean every, damn npc I could target (Who knows what kind of adventures they could send me on!) I remember going through all the /emotes for the first time. I thought they were all pretty cool till I got to /dance and despite the emotive movements of all the others before it, /dance.. just.. stood.. there. ?? Maybe I didn't do it right, or I was missing something. No, sadly no, my little Mithra rump did not shake, my feet did not shimy, nor did my hands wave in the air like I just didn't care. Oh sure, the chat box registered "XXXX dances." but it was a lie. Later on I would cobble together other emotes into a sort of dance ..thing, that at best could be described as ..'interpretive'. So I ask again, to whoever might be able to answer: Will I be able to get my tush a-shaking?

You don't need to /dance you get 1 character and can access all of the classes just by chainging your weapons!
I mean if space bar won't make you jump why would /dance make you dance?
This game isn't for you, you obviously need WoW.
There, I just fulfilled the XIV quota.
I kill other players because they're smarter than AI, sometimes.
If i'm not mistaken they have confirmed that you can dance in 14. They also eventually added actual dancing emotes to 11 some time ago, it was pretty cool, lol.

Squid, /dance really doesn't work, but /dance1 /dance2 and /dance3 do
You have that video of the poster before me and many more on youtube. And there are even lots of emote videos for almost all the races on youtube as well, I bet you'll be able to find them with simple search by " *FFXIV race name* emotes "

Heh, yah I knew that they "eventually" brought /dancing to FFXI, but for like 2 years after the stateside release /dance did little but taunt me :`(. I always thought it silly that it took them so long to get that in there (well that and several other things, but I digress). Hopefully, SE will be more aware, this time around, of the needs and desires of the time-wasters and goof-abouts :].
After reading these posts, I did go on youtube and found someone actually doing the /dance emote, though a few there seemed to do all but that one xD. So thanks to all that posted helpfully
