I signed in on mozilla firefox (didn't work on google chrome) and it said I was selected. It doesn't start until August 10th though apparently.

Hello, new guy here,and i too signed up for the beta test and if i knew it was going to be randomized then i would have made a bunch of accounts and just mash a bunch of different letters togeather in each box and click send.
People that spammed and payed no time in actually filling out the app i have no simpithy for you if 
your computer crashes because someone got really mad at Nexon, and bugged the beta testing game so all your computers crashed and u all have to buy or make new ones (laughes miniacly)
But seriously,im officially a Nexon Hater cause of all u people that get beta keys and sell em for like $500 and thats how you make ur pathetic living.I know i problably sound like a little 4 year old that got their beta key taken away from them like ice cream but im not,so goodbye nexon!(but i will still play the game when it launches for real so......)

Lotr beta was my backup and I didn't even get into that either.. looks like i'm stuck with single player games for awhile longer now.
Sad part is, I actually planned on testing it and giving them my feedback, i'd imagine a lot of the people who got in are only interested in playing the game purely for their own enjoyment and will contribute nothing. That is if they even continue playing it, since soooo many are apparently really aggainst genderlocks and instances.
Yup, instead they'll get a ton-load of people that will drop the game saying it sucks because it's not another typical WoW clone or because it's not a finished-release product.

half of the beta testers will be people with no experience with action mmo's and then they will leave without telling nexon so the beta key will go to waste

I would imagine this happens in most betas, especially f2p ones. You either like a specific game of you don't. An individual does not need experience with action mmos in order to like them. Therefore, it is just as likely that someone installs the game who has never played an action mmo and loves it as someone who has played an action mmo.

I thought beta-testing was about testing the game and helping the devs fix up the problems and bugs so that the release can be better than it would otherwise be. Guess it's for people who would like to play the game before release and form pre-mature opinions. How silly of me.
They have an QA department for that. These days OB's are a form of hyping the game and stressing the servers.

I agree that these days betas are more about hype. But whenever I am in a beta i try to give some quality feedback to help improve the game. I also think it is important for others to provide this same feedback as well. Beta is a good time for the players' voices to be heard, if a company chooses to listen. At the same time, if I am in a beta and I absolutely don't like the game, I will just stop playing and I wouldn't begrudge anyone else who did the same.

The actual test is only from August 10th - 24th, which strongly suggests it's a Show Case demo.
Nexon USA has a very bad reputation, and it's becoming worse. As much as I like Vindictus, the English Localization of the game is seriously in the wrong hands. Without proper customer support, and with a forum littered with vocal ads such as, "Congrats, you've won.. etc" -- I doubt this game is going to make very far to an adult crowd. I might as well just forget it ever existed and focus my efforts on Final Fantasy XIV, which looks to be on the road to a very solid day 1 launch.

Seeing as how it is going to be free to play I am not really disappointed having not gotten into the beta (this round), even if one never gets into the beta you will still be able to try it out for free to see if you like it.
What does concern me is the sound of the nature of character creation and development. From the sound of it you pick from pre-made, pre-named, pre-physically designed characters which if that is the case then it totally kills the idea of the game for me. Half of why I play an MMO is to make my own character in the image and design I want (sometimes limited by crappy character creation editors) and not play some pre-designed characters right out of an action/acventure console game. I'll wait to see what it is like, but I have a lot more doubt now then I did when I first heard about the game and applied for the beta.
I hoping it will have a solid day one launch but the beta keeps going down early during almost every test so far

How would one compare this game to continent of the ninth? You can get a korean account for cheap and I hear getting by in korean isn't touch at all in that game (especially with an english guild).
