I have heard so many bad things about SWG until recently. I'm currently playing WoW and CoH. I like both games but am getting really bored with both. I'm thinking about getting the all access pass and playing EQ2, SWG, EQ and EQOA(PS2). I use to play both EQOA(PS2) and EQ and wouldn't mind playing again but really interested in EQ2 and SWG. Has SWG improved that much that you would recommend. I'm a fairly big Star Wars fan and always was hoping SWG was a better game.

First, I have to say that for alot of MMO players SWG was their first MMO. Expectations were huge and regardless of the state of the game it couldn't have lived up to the expectations.
Anyway, yes I highly recommend SWG. I've been playing since launch and have tried various MMOs before and after it. SWG is the only one that has kept my interest for so long. SWG has greatly improved since launch and provided that the combat upgrade goes well it will be a very very solid game.
Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.
If you get the all access pass there should be an MMORPG amongst them that you like.
For SWG the 5 May is the most important date ... new expansion, new planet , combat revamp, 10+ new ships ... give it a try.

Jestor ... the new SOE crew is a bit less touchy than the old crew ..... CSRs have improved A LOT since they got permanently assigned to specific servers.

There are a lot of people who moan and grip about the game but they still play it, that has to say somthing. As for my self it's the only MMO I play and I still love loging in as often as I can. There is tons on new things on the way and regular patches with smaller fixies and at the moment story based quests.
Already waiting 4 days for my copy of swg..

Wow, the OP could have been me. I'm currently also playing WoW, CoH, and a former EQOA and EQPCer. Hmmmm
Could someone answer a few specific questions:
1. Is JtL something that you can jump right in to (no pun intended) as a newbie and have fun with?
2. Is it possible to advance at a decent pace solo in this game?
3. Has the game world fleshed out well since launch?
4. What's the community like in general? Is there a steady influx of new players, or is it a fairly stagnant player base (like many game out currently)?
Thanks
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

Hi,
I just picked up SWG and JTL today and I was able to get into space within 40 minutes of during the brief tutorial.
If you want to do the space missions then I would advise you to pick up a inexpensive flightstick like logitech or saitek.

1. Is JtL something that you can jump right in to (no pun intended) as a newbie and have fun with?
---> JTL is VERY easy to begin. You start with a nice little ship for free where you can hop in space after talking to the trainer. No need to learn anything about the ground game yet ... instant space action. Ground game start is a bit rougher and needs more patience.
2. Is it possible to advance at a decent pace solo in this game?
--> Definitely yes. Especially if you find a doctor that buffs you. This will change in May and make the game more group oriented than the 80 % solo game it is now.
3. Has the game world fleshed out well since launch?
--> Some, but not as much as we would wish. They added an instance and some high end dungeons. Recently also more quests on ground and in space. The Wookie expansion will add significantly more content and quests come May. The recently Galactic Civil War patch made the world much more lively and it feels much more Star Warsy these days.
4. What's the community like in general? Is there a steady influx of new players, or is it a fairly stagnant player base (like many game out currently)?
---> Community in SWG has been called "very nice and helpful" as most of the powergamers and L33T speakers have moved on to other newer games.
--> On my server (Naritus) I see an influx of new players (people that played WoW and coming back to SWG. People that started in MMORPG genre with WoW and are now looking for something new). Compared to the increase in WoW player numbers SWG (and all other games) are "Stagnant". I expect many more players in SWG after May ... combat completely redone and new planet (Rage of the Wookies expansion).
