A buddy of mine just picked this up and wants me to buy it. Looks like they stopped the trial and I haven't heard whether this game is doing well and worth the purchase or not. To those playing, or no longer playing, is the game worth the purchase?

I am sure that you will get many opinions that are the opposite of mine. For me Global Agenda is NOT worth it. They started out as a team shooter and now are trying to morph into a type of true MMOFPS.
All I can say is that MMOs that start production as MMOs are challenged to have the content and gameplay that makes folks want to play. I have sincere doubts about Hi-Rez's Frankenstein approach to re-developing their game fundmaentally as they go. I like their willingness to listen to customers, but that is a double edged sword and I also appreciate when developers don't listen to gallop polls to build their games.
I know they are now using the Guild Wars type funding model (pay for expansions, but no monthly fee), but again I feel that the whole game just feels subpar. There are other multiplayer shooters that do it better in my opinion and this is still no where near an MMO gaming environment, nor do I think it will be.
Once again, this is just my personal opinion. Many people like GA and I am glad. Not too long ago I was in your shoes debating the buy. I offer my advice only because I regret buying it. If you are on the fence, I would suggest waiting a bit longer (a cooling off period). To me whenever I have to ask the community if I should play x, y, or z it is a good sign that I am not interested enough to buy. The games I truly want, I know I want, and I buy them.
That is just me though.
I wish you luck either way and hope that you find what you are looking for.
I say it is worth it, $25 on steam and no sub is a pretty sweet deal in my opinion. It's a TPS more than an MMO, however it's a very fun game and Hi Rez listen and adapt their game accordingly. I PvP alot in the game and you can level by doing PvP or PvE also leveling is fast and isn't a grind.
That's my take on it anyway.

I've not personally played it, or even wanted to. But probably will pick it up in the next few weeks.
But I will say I have dozens of friends loving it for the reasons stated above. Seems like people either go crazy for it, or say "It's okay, I'll play it every once and awhile." Which really if you think about it is a really good review for a MMO of any sort these days.
I kill other players because they're smarter than AI, sometimes.
I didn't like it, seem like the same old instances over and over again same old npcs.
It was kind of remincient of Phantasy Star online only a FPS. I mean, if you got a buddy playing it and want to play a FPS kind of game, go for it. But i would not spend the money myself.
I payed $40 bucks i think and have over 400hrs played. It could fall over tomorrow and i've gotten more than my monies worth.
200 hours played here, but i preordered so it cost me 50 bucks. more game time than L4D2, ME2 and TF2 put together. very much worth it...
game is alright. because ive been playing for a while, theres nothing interesting for me until the next expansion.
Also clocking about 200 hours on the game. I bought it back in March and figured i'll play it casually on and off while i wait for an interesting MMO. In the end? I play it more and more and enjoying it. No subscription, once off box cost makes me coming back time and again. [something that fails with subscription MMOs is i don't ever return if my sub runs out] .
So i'd say for the current price and considering what you get, it's worth it. This game has undergone quite a few iterations and i think if i -started- the game now i would've been almost overwhelmed with all the features and content. Back before Sandstorm this game was pretty much Team Fortress 2 , nothing more. Now it is way past TF2 .
I bought it back at release and have been having a great time playing. We don't play GA full time as we have other games we play as well but we definitely get our money out of it. I like that GA is listening and making changes based off the surveys they send out. These guys are really trying to make a solid game and it shows.
Its a great game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has everytthing that you want in a mmo-shooter. PVE, PVP! And the A v A is the great end game.
And they just did a HUGE UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See all the !!!!!!!!'s yea i like this game a lil. LMAO
If you can't stand relying on your team, then this game is not for you. If you go into it like you go into CoD 4 where you can multi-kill 3-4 people by yourself by twitching around, that isn't what you're going to get here.
It's great fun working as part of the team. You can have some REALLY fun battles on the point (term for the major objective/flag where there's bound to be explosions). I played an assault and medic, they were both a blast.
The gameplay itself is fun, the netcode is pretty solid and the game runs fairly smooth.
I haven't tried the new open zone, but if you're an MMO gamer just know what you're getting yourself into before you buy it. It's a team TPS before anything else.
As most games are, its well worth the low price of admission compared to other entertainment, lots of truth in gamemonger's reply though.
I'm going to say "Go" with a caveat.
The game is fun. But much is not working very well. The thing is that as it morphs, some of the competitive aspects get really beaten down with some of the grind for equipment post patch 1.35 (the current patch). If you have friends that are in the game, I can pretty much guarantee that you will have a good time also though. However, once the gear, token, and cash / material farm grind set in, it becomes less fun. That's the mmorpg part poking its head in on a good pvp based game. Now if they could just get the matchmaker fixed up, the pvp would be back to being fun.
I don't think the match maker is a problem, just retarded players. I've noticed guys with retarded pvp play have all kinds of ratings and no matter how hi rez rates them they'll end up on any team. Maybe it's just that the game got popular and therefore we got more retarded wow fags playing?
I'm pretty sure it's hard to blame a match maker for some of the ass hattery I've seen from lvl 30+ players in merc. Assaults using fagma lances but when you point out it's no good I get "Yeah but I stand on the point!" and I think "Great! and you'll kill yourself before the enemy gets the chance!
I just said screw it and went poison medic, the one class where everyone needs him and if they give me any shit over voice comms then when they need a heal during a match they can have a big **** you.
The fact is that there's also too many retards and lamers playing a death match in merc, no one wants to stand on the point (least of all the ASSault) for fear of being nailed. It'll change as merc is always evolving into something new, probably a higher form of faggotry but hey I still find it fun!

It is quite fun actually.
But as was said, don't expect to be bunny hoping around like a FPS and kill 10 people in a row.
Don't expect to be a recon (The sniper class), and "pwn sum noobz".
I don't think the game has a "gear grind" like normal MMOs. But the team play aspect is pretty huge, and that really adds a lot to the gameplay rather then rambos.
After being out for 3 months, i cam back this weeklend for the new content .... and it's awesome!
I hate the fact they changed the 15 point system though ... no having to grind for gear, but just getting your level 1 to 4 equipment while levelling ... ah well ... i need to go out and grind my epic gear then :S
I hope they will add loads more of open area's in the future! ... this new area was great, but it was 4 hours of content.
Try to play with friends though .... that's what makes it fun!
Do you have to play in 1st person or can you fight in 3rd person?
Guess there is no means of a free trial at all now? No buddy keys or anything to take a quick look?
Uhm it is actually a third person shooter...i don't think i've ever played it in 1st person . The only time where you usually go into a 1st person view is when you're using some sort of scope to aim (snipers mostly).
thank you
Well now I guess I'll see if they allow some kind of trial at some point, don't want to invest the $$ without being able to look at it first. Nowadays pretty much every MMO has one.
They do not, at this time allow for a trial.
I read over this thread and watched my buddy play for a bit on his character and decided to give it a go.
Its been about 5 days since my purchase and I'm level 30. I'm going to write a review in a few more days, but so far, mostly good things to be had here. I do not regret the purchase.
Interesting I will check back to hear what you think
Level 30 in 5 days? What is the level cap and is each class capable of being built into multiple variations?
Its been 5 days but I've been playing semi heavily, about 4 to 6 hours a day when I get home from work, and I've only played one class. Today I started a new class to get some variation, and I quickly got to level 15 in a couple hours.
Each class has many different variations where you can pick skill upgrades out of 3 different pools. I'll go into that in more detail in the review, but lets just say that I've had a tremendous amount of fun speccing my character over and over just to play with my new builds or when I get a new weapon or offhand item.
The level cap is 50 by the way.
They suspended the trial because of server issues I believe but they do plan to start it back up.
I am the queen of impatience, hehe
Might just have to get it trial or not :P
If you pick it up, add AntiProduct to your friends list in-game (you can view your friends list by pressing F3). I'll be happy to give you pointers or run some PvE missions with you when I'm online.
I'm still having a blast with GA after playing since closed beta. I've never been a fan of FPS games, but GA has somehow pulled me in and kept me entertained. The new 10-man raid content is freaking hella fun, especially when you're the only medic.

It's definitely worth the buy price, even before the updates I enjoyed the game for about 50 hours, which already makes it worthy of the initial purchase.
It did get boring after that though and I quit it eventually, but I'm probably going back to it shortly now that the sub is cancelled (the game wasn't worthy of a sub) forever and they are putting in those new updates...
