MMORPG TeamSpeak Channel

I was thinking about an idea that MMORPG.com could implement, maybe instead of having or along side with the live chat, we could have a link to a teamspeak channel for the site, so people here can talk to others in real time. It is a very small fee to pay for a teamspeak server, something like 4.95 a month or something of that nature, and if that is too much I think I could russle around and I bet others here would also donate to get a teamspeak server?

Question to the admins:

If we collected enough money would MMORPG be willing to host a teamspeak server for its viewers?

And where should donations be sent to if this idea is approved?

You got it all wrong, Dave.

It is more like "Hey dudes, hey! My name is Yugiohwizard02 from the forums!! What is a good free moorpg?! You know, like Runescape!! Hey how come my rank is so low on the forumers?!"

I reply:

"Please shut the **** up you ******* little ****. Quit ******** screaming. I can hear your ****** high pitched voice when you whisper. ****. Go **** your ****** out and ********* rank means ***** so shut the **** up. You are the **** your mom should have ********."

I remember an idea a while back about guilds being able to pay for a space on this site. Maybe a TeamSpeak server could be part/an option of this deal? I liked that idea by the way.

Kiamde you forgot a couple things.... such as...
1. WHat is the right MMorpg for me I like sh** on a stick and eating donuts....
2. Hey I am making a survey about mmorpgs. see my stick(measuring utensil) is small and I cant go online and look around to find other peoples research so I thought I would look here first and ask everyone questions.
3. I love murt I want his gigantic Bawls(you know what I mean) in my tiny little usb port. Ow by the way I am looking at him right now thru his window but he doesnt know.

Ventrilo is better than teamspeak beacause you can actually control the volume of incoming and outgoing speech. Wouldnt be a bad idea for an MMORPG.com mic forum but i do agree with others that it would not be pretty.

Hmm no, I dont think I would want to see SexiLexi in that server, who knows what he would do. You should read the live chat sometime, once you do you wont want a teamspeak server anymore.

TeamSpeak/Ventrillo servers are great for team oriented tasks, however, for open forums, they are awful. Everyone winds up speaking at the same time and nobody gets heard. I don't think it would be a worthwhile venture.

How is it dumb? That doesn't make abit of sense, for one I am fairly sure its irc based. For 2 it would serve the purpose as much as an IRC channel. So please explain how the live chat is "dumb".

Yeah, I honestly couldn't see it working. Between the people constantly yelling "WOW SUX", "EQ SUX", and there just being people who make retarded sounds into their mics. Doesn't mean you can't start your own TS or Vent server for MMORPG.com members, just means you'll have to prepare to constantly deal with those kind of people.

Great if it is IRC based...but I am talking about a channel. SO you had the option of not using lame old java that takes forever to load, and is a resource hog. It also a horrible interface, has lag, etc..

On top of that the only time I see people in the live chat is during the final hours of a contest or someting.

It doesn't make any since to argue about it vs. an IRC channel. Basically the live chat is dumb compared to the IRC, that clearer?

Not really, the client is pretty clean for java. If your saying you want to be able to use a third party application to get to it, understandable. Perhaps you meant to say you would like to see a MMORPG.com IRC server?

I have had no problem resource wise or lag wise with the chat client although I must admit, I don't use it very often, but its always been very responsible for me when I do. I have to disagree with "dumb" still, I think its perfect for here. It gives everyone access to direct chat without requring anyone to download and configure any software, and gets you right into conversation in under 30 seconds. I think an IRC server hosted by MMORPG.com that was completely open would be a management nightmare for them and overkill considering what we have already gets no use what so ever.

Well, I chat daily with the newbies and I have to say that it is a pretty crappy chatroom. Sure, its a Java masterpiece, but it is slow. You also have to click the chatbox everytime you wish to speak. That gets annoying. Also, you sometimes forget about the box, start typing, get dead air, and accidently hit backpace, sending you back to the frontpage. Now THAT gets very annoying. Little old me does that about once every 5 minutes. I am just so used to IRC. I'd set up an irc protium channel if enough people wanted it and I got frontpage support.

Well then maybe we should ask them for a better application in the site. I mean there are plenty that connect to IRC and well. Like I said I don't use it much and when I have, its always worked fine for me. I have been irc chatting for about 12 years but I also fairly used too the java clients due to using them for other sites, including 2 of my own.

You throw up a open to the public IRC server however and then you have to start having staff watch it all the time, start setting policies, it could get rather messy quick. I am gonna have to stick with a private server only accessable from the site using your mmorpg.com login to get in.
