Square Enix has the very worst customer support system. Do yourself a favor and buy FXI for five dollars and attempt to register the game. If you get past that part, and some of you will not, play the game and submit a support ticket. Every new game looks like a pot of gold until you actually get to the end of the rainbow, I would not buy this game without testing the waters unless you blindly enjoy wasting sixty dollars.

I have in fact played FFXI for 3 years, i have 0 issues registering and have had ALL my tickets responded to and or solved with in 24 hours, go some where else hater

Also, if I'm not mistaken...customer service for FFXI in the US is handled by Sony of all people...so nuff said!

SE has its own CS people. Sony has nothing to do with SE's CS.
Um they have the same issue on a lot of other games and people still play them. If the customer is going to be an asshat then what do you expect the customer support to take your abuse? I don't sit around and let the customer be a dick to me I do CS if the customer is not going to be civil then why should I try my hardest to help him? I will try but at a certain point well your out of luck.
All i said was try the FFXI game for 5 dollars before you leap into the 60 dollar game, my experience with playonline/square exix was a very bad one. I was looking for a new mmo and figuire i would try ffxi since ffxiv was coming out soon. I will wait the extra month or two for a better game now.

Yes, I had to call GM 3 times in my 6 year FFXI career. 2 out of 3 times the GM wasn't helpful.

As stated soooo many times by sooooo many people including SE, Play online will not be used for FFXIV.

We are all adults here (well, most of us) and are capable of researching a game and or company. If we make a poor decision we live with it.

Well good for you just wait then..For my part i never had problem to log or register to FFXI. The only problem was a billing issu, after that i knew that if i want to re-subscribe, the best time was the first of the month. Because unlike most mmo they charge everyone the first of the month and if you re-subscribe today by example the first august you will be charge 2 month.
So this part suck but this is not that who will keep me for playing a good game.

Had 3 FFXI Accounts , as long as you read what you are supposed to do when registering its simple. There instructions are spot on, must be down to certain users not choosing to read them.
And your advice is not to play because of registration problems witrh a 9yr old game.....Doesn't even warrant a reply tbh...

Steam was selling the package deal for 5 dollars last week dunno if its still there, and yes you are mostly all adults. Its your right to waste 60 dollars, but not everyone, especially the ones who fell for warhammer and AoC think its NBD to waste the money. I see alot of "Building new machine for FFXIV" post so I am guessing this would be important to them as well, after all why add 2000 dollars to your mistake, try FFXI before you leap. OH, and to the Customer Servive guy who put his two cents in, you probally just happened to be the person who answered the call from some guy who has called a dozen times and recieved no satisfaction so of course the conversation wasn't as polite as you expected it to be.
Steam had a 50% off sale a few days ago..... so you missed it.
I bought the 5$ STEAM special and had no problem registering, it takes time and PlayOnline is annoying but with patience everything was fine.
Fail troll is fail troll.I never heard of anyone having problems to register.IF you cant even do that right then you problably shouldnt be playing the game at all.Care to elaborate what your problem was and not randomly say " dont buy it , it sucks, couse i say so".I had my share of problems with customer suport and they werent as bad as you say.Besides,, this is FFXIV not FFXI.
FFXIV =/= FFXI, get it ?They dont even use the same CS Team.( playonline)

Same, never had an issue. Even had a great Customer Service experience when I had a system crash and needed help getting codes that I no longer had. But with most CS experiences, you hear about the bad ones 10 times as much as you do the quiet good ones.

I usually had no problem getting support for FFXI back in the day.
The problem was Playonline was just an enormous roadblock for a lot of players, especially when they integrated that secure pay crap.
You can't leap in this game.
