I would pick Horizons and try to make it how it was supposed to be in concept before they cut all the playable species, because I think it would have been fun to have so many factions in the same game world.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
Probably Earth and Beyond. I'm a big fan of space games and I have fond memories of playing this one a long time ago and the reasons why I quit have faded enough I'd play it again if it was still around.

Was my first love in the mmo world. Pisses me off how that whole thing went down, but played till they pulled the plug...
The Realm Online and Asherons Call would be my choices. I grew up playing those games and was absolutley in love with both of them. Lean a little more towards The Realm Online because it was my first MMO love. I think it was the Baldrics that made me love the game so much. It was incentive to gain levels so you could walk around with your new "Baldy" and show off to everyone.
Asherons Call was a fantastic game. I would pay to play this game again if they made a new one.
The Realm Online needs to be made Free 2 Play. Asheron Call needs to make a new and improved game. I just see AC being a phenom in the world of MMO's if they would make a new one.
For me, it would HAVE to be Tabula Rasa. You know why? Because it had guns AND magic! It was the best fusion of sci-fi and fantasy I've ever seen. The world was very well put together and pretty well balanced gameplay. Granted, there was no 2nd playable faction and your choice in race was limited, but it was a start in the right direction. Tabula Rasa all the way!
Mandatory Disclaimer: I do mean to offend. Any offence taken by my words is purely your fault because you chose to accept the offence as it was offered. Failure to take offences offered will result in a higher IQ and a congratulatory letter from offender (me).

Tabula Rasa was just coming into its own when NCSoft pulled the plug. Bugs were fixed, advancement was tweaked, instances were (mostly) working, and the game was more fun than ever to play.
I still don't understand why the plug was pulled. The servers were decently populated all the way up until the end. I guess 'decent' numbers weren't enough for NCSoft.
Oh, and the way you could create a 'clone' of your character at each advancement path was quite an innovative approach to trying new classes. Alts that didn't need to be leveled from scratch, basically. I'd like to see more games use that approach.
Original Everquest. To me, that is the gold standard for the genre.
That is one old school MMO, even before AC2. There was more mystery and magic in that game back in the day until too many console gamers that wanted to expand their game moved over to MMO's and QQ'd about how the MMOs were built. Made a total mess of how MMOs have evolved today. Everyone its in the game for end content and then head off to spend the rest of their time on another mmo or console game until an xpac is released. Which leaves a lot of true MMORPG'rs bored.
As much as Id like tosee original EQ come back, Id have to agree with Gardavil2 ... I wouldnt want to revive any MMO. Takin my $ to feed my addiction has really taken the fun mystery and magic out of MMOs.

I thoroughly believe that what caused the fall of these games is laziness and needy, whining soloists that were'nt happy having great single player games of thier own. They had to have it all and take away the experience for which was the very reason us old schoolers origionaly started playing MMOs...reliability in each other.
Instaports to areas of the game that one used to have to manualy travel to and sometimes fight to get to. Auction houses that took away the need for players to build actual relashionships in order to survive and actually be at the keyboard to sell. Etc... Basically anything that took the "MM" out of MMORPG. MMOs have become nothing more than glorified single player games with a chat function embeded into the game.
Have auction houses, but institute the idea that the seller has to manually press the "OK" button when someone buys something from them. Have instaports, but ensure that the player must rely on another to use it. etc..
For those that disagree, I don't care. I have no interest in hearing how you want the same benefits of a player that wants to actually play a game instead of flying through it because you're too lazy and self absorbed to put in the effort and time to experience a game as it is meant to be. Go get a single player game and leave MMOs alone. It shouldn't be the problem of the true MMOers that you lack the vision, patience, or stamina to handle the very thing that makes MMOs what they are...other people and the need to rely on them.
I miss vanilla WoW and the ORIGIONAL EQ ... before RoK etc ... Well RoK wasn't horrilbe but the subsiquent expansions i couldnt get into, and EQ2 fell so far off the mark I just cvouldn't believe it.
I would have to say Earth & Beyond. It had a huge and loyal fan base. It died before its time due to EA wanting to focus mainly on the battlefield series and the sims.

Since Earth and Beyond is already back, I would have to say Tabula Rasa as well. I tried the beta and felt it had potential.
Its not already back, it’s a great attempt to raise something from the dead. They game will truly never be what it was. Have you actually played it? I have been for abit, I’m lucky I see 2 people. And then check out the game list, and look at canceled game. It’s cool what they are doing, but really to say its back????
Asheron's Call 2 all the way. I have never played another MMORPG like it since...I keep searching. It was FUN not a grind. Graphics were out of this world. Of course, Turbine was quick to ban, and they banned me language when I had forked over $20 for the month so I never played another game with Turbine ever again, although I did upgrade a friend's DDO account for him for $15 and still feel guilty. No wonder Turbine lost customer base - too bad, as they had a good product.
I'm so carebear and I loved defending self, clan, and friends from griefers.
But omg! the lore was not only completely original, but the best RPG lore imaginable. Meridian will always be my hero with each race having its own version of the lore and rarely coinciding with the lore of any other race. the RPG conflicts this motley lore created were truely epic and greatly encouraged what is severely lacking in almost all MMORPGs doay, actual RPG.
forgotten characters (Ultima Online,Everquest,DAoC) Qualme (Shadowbane on Mourning) Pandamonia (Lineage 2 on Bartz) Bridgit (Soul of the Ulimate Nation) deLiber (Aika Online) Qualme (ArcheAge on Kyrios) Looking for next PvP game

I could not agree more!!!
Or the energy, intelligence and creativity to find your own way with every pop-up guide saying go here and do that. Find yourself, find your career, find your path, make friends, make enemies and play it like its a Massively Muliplayer game, not a solo, "rush-to-cap" so you can flaunt your welfare e-peen.
