Yeah, you could run it.  It won't be pretty though.

    I got a P4 2.6, but a Gig ram over your .5

We have the same video card.  Read the post about the video card down below....  I've been told to get a 6600GT.  I'll probaly get it in a month or so since I owe 1200 bucks on my freakin taxes (I won a car and now it's putting me in the poor house).  I'm currently not playing EQ2 right now, and 38% of the reason why was due to the graphics I was getting in certain areas.

Dont see any probs with those specs except the Ram.  You really need a gig of ram otherwise things get laggy real quick and you will find yourself relogging a lot to dump that lag.

That would be a great computer if you had more RAM and a better card. The Geforce 5200 is a bad card, you could play with it but it will lag even at the lowest setting. I would definitely upgrade your video card and memory.

so if I upgrade the ram and video card I would be good to go?

  • SlytheSlythe Member UncommonPosts: 952

Yup, just grab another 512 stick of your RAM and check around for a good video card. www.pricegrabber.com can help you find a site to shop from. Most of the sites ( like Newegg) have daily specials that you should check, you can probably find a good deal.

EDIT* Make sure that you get the AGP version of the video card, unless you're 100% positive that your motherboard supports PCI-E, which is the newer technology. Even still, a Geforce 6600 GT AGP would be a great card compared to the 5200. Ask anyone that has owned a 5200, they hate them lol.

Yep, 5200's are absolute trash. I hated having one. Newegg has some awesome deals so just give them a look.

Hey guys thanks for all your input but I got another question for you.

Now if you had the choice of this computer.

    1.

    AMD - Athlon64 +30000 CPU
    512MB DDR Memory
    80G Hard Drive (7200RPM)
    128M 8X AGP
    Combo Drive
    Sound, LAN and Modem
    Stereo Speakers
    Wireless:
    Keyboard, Mouse
    Windows XP Home

or the one I posted previously,

    2.
    Intel P4 3.0GHz CPU 800MHz FSB
    512MB Dual DDR Memory (2x256MB)
    SATA 80GB Hard Drive (7200RPM)
    nVIDIA GeFORCE FX5200 8X 128 mb AGP
    40x16x48 CD-RW /DVD Combo Drive
    3Com 10/100 Ethernet LAN
    Wireless: Keyboard, Mouse
    Stereo Speakers
    8 USB 2.0 Ports (2 x front, 6 x rear)

Which one would you choose? Also if I upgrade the system memory and get a good vid card on either system will it run EQ2 smoothly? I can't stand choppy graphics.

I would take the one with the Athlon 64 30,000. ::::18::

But really.. they're about the same. Not sure which video card in the first one, though..

I would get another 512 stick. You can get one off newegg.com for like 40.00$ now.
