Why do people complain about grinding instances in one MMO and not the other?

Just wondering on this because when u visit the Aion forums on this site all u see is i had to run Fire Temple and Steel Rake (x) amount of times and im sick of it and thats why i unsubbed. Im not currently subbed to that game but was recently. I am currently subbed to Wow and its the same mechanics over here. How many times a day do u run the same instances at end game to grind out emblems, and yes folks there is massive grind in ur Wow game. I know Aion has its problems but the grinding instances is its smallest flaw. Wow throws u a new gear set and it starts all over again but u never see the OMG ive ran this so many times,im unsubbing but on other games its a game breaker, any suggestions on whats the difference between the mindset on this perplexing situation?

Applications for MMO guilds??? Sorry not that pathetic just yet

From what I remember Aion was a huge grind, you could run those dungeons over and over and pretty much never find a single item your looking for.

Wow on you get emblems and stuff so your always gonna get alteast something ya need, it dont feel like a huge waste of time.

During wow classic this used to be rough and im sure its one of the reasons the 40man raiding was trashed back then, people got tired of running the same 40man raids over and over and never getting anything.

I guess it kinda boils down to how much time they put in for rewards.

If dude #1 plays aion and has to run this dungeon 30times to find 1 of the 10 items he needs, then plays wow and it takes him half the time to get all the pieces of gear he needs then it took him for the 1 piece in aion and with a much less of a headache. Dude #1 will probablly call aion a grind.

I don't know what post you haven't been reading, but that is one of the main complaints with WoW. The repetitive endgame. The other complaint, which I don't agree with, is about how "easy" the game has supposedly become. Personally, yeah I don't like the emblem grind in WoW. BUT, AION just sucks in every way to me. Although, that doesn't help your question.

I suppose the sheer amount of dungeons and quality of the dungeons in WoW crushes anyting Aion offers. More variety and all that. WoW just needs OTHER things to do besides gear grinding at endgame. That's why games like EQ2 or Lotro, FFXI etc. have Housing, Collections, mentor systems, alternate advancement models and STORYLINES.

Aion dungeons were a huge grind, WoW dungeons aren't required and are rather fun and relaxing. You don't have to do instances or grind in WoW, it's your choice, in Aion you are almost forced to do it to be able to progress.

For me i thiink it is more how much time a person has to invest in a game, and how much of that they want to spend in a instance. I mean i liked aion's instances quite abit, and before wrath i liked wow's instances as well. Some people just don't have 4 hours to run an instance for gear to get to their end game goal. i remember people complaining how long Maradon, strathholme, and such were when i started playing wow with afew friends, but honestly i loved how it would take me time to get my gear. I hate to say this as i don't think it is completely truthful but people now a days want their gear as fast as they can so they can get to the end game of the game. The only other thing i have noticed since i started playing mmo's is that every year the players seem to want to interact with other players less and less, weather in groups or even just plain in general. just my opinion but all i can give ya

i do understand the whole thing about not running it millions of times just for a piece of gear, thats resonable and the reason i think people are less and less inclined to want to interact with players less and less is that the fact its hard to find Friendly people in these games anymore, not impossible but true friendly, helpful people are getting harder and harder to find. Its one thing to help yourself out a bit to not be such a so called noob at the game ur playing but the whole meaning of  (Community) is the people u are in game with helping,(not hand holding) but it seems asking questions to the community of a game is now considered a taboo and its not a pretty picture most of the time. It is one thing to be proud of what u accomplish in game but dont have to be a ass to others just because they dont have as much dedication or knowledge of the game as u do.

I would not say it is taboo to ask for help (i know you are not trying to make it seem that it is, just that it feels that way), but just vary risky as it is in the real world if you were to ask a complete stranger for help. YOu do not know how they will react or even what kind of help you will get, but this is even magniified by the fact that it is over the internet and they can be an ass without much problem or worry. THe reason i don't like wrath's instances is how shallow, and un intresting they are to, even some of the bc's instance were like that just not as bad. I guess you could it is two mind sets coming together, since i know alot of people that liked the older instances that were longer as well as being to some people more difficult to play but also seemingly more fun for them, and then their are those people i know who enjoy the shorter instance which gives them a feeling of completeing something or even multiple things within the time they have to play. both are valid, i can also understand the idea of terrible drop rates being a problem, but i never found a drop rate which i found that bad even a 1% drop rate for me was not that bad if i was enjoying myself doing it. I think it could be more that you don't enjoy the instance, and the fact of  which magnifies the fact that the drop rate is so bad. what you all think it was always kinda how i felt when i played in an instance which ii hated but needed a piece of gear out of it?
