I'm pumped for this game, what are you excited about?

No, I dont care that you can't swim,  that the controls dont feel like wow's, etc. etc..

All the negativity on these forums over such trivial tasks (swimming, realy, name me an MMO where it makes up more than 1% of the content), control scheme, I could see it being really jacked up and that dissuading someone, but, its not, it's wasd and its not bad at all, just takes a little adjusting.

That being said, I'm super pumped for this game. An updated, better looking, sligthtly more user friendly version of ffxi, I can't see a reason to complain .SE took everything right from FFXI, fixed everything wrong from FFXI, and this is the product.

I would say my biggest concern has been the server stability during beta, but.... it's beta... who cares?

So i've preordered, set up my PC stuff, and everything else to enjoy this game. And now, I'm just tired about all the ridiculous and trivial negativity so I wanted to make a topic where people could be positive.

Post the things you are excited about.

I just want to get lost in the feel of the world, the music of Nobuo Uematsu, and the DEEP gameplay. I LOVE games where I can play one character and persue EVERYTHING possible and it keeps my progress. Even though I will probably never max everything, I always make it a goal to have everything maxed. If that makes any sense. Square games always give me so much to go for.

    Fantastic post!

I for one have been itching to play an MMO, started out on ffxi (favorite to this day) and ended with wow (about 6 months in) WoW had its good points and bad points just like every other game out there.

However, the way FF xiv is currently look, it looks nothing short than incredible. The chance to make your OWN character just the way you want is awesome in my book. Its going to give the community the a chance to really get to know everyone. Who has what skills crafting etc....Its been said that the healers are slowing be put on the shelf due to "next gen" MMOs, and i cant see this happening. Sure a tank or DD has can level up their support skills, but at what cost? Will there be time for that tank to stop attacking for the sole purpose of healing himself?

To answer the topic question, im excited about this entire game from loading the game up hearing that intoxicating music to exploring the starting zones and making new friends!

sept. 22nd along with the 30th is going to open up news doors for the MMO world, and to all of you who are going to enjoy it i cant wait to play along with you!

    WHM/BLM (retired)

Looks and playability aren't the same thing.  There is nothing special, so far, about FF XIV.  In fact its looking like one of the worst MMOs for a long time, in actual game play, content, etc.

Nope, at the moment I not excited about it.  I'm actually more annoyed, as I was greatly looking forward to it.  Until I saw it.

Slightly fearful that I won't be able to figure out how to walk through that door to see it. :p

The class system has me excited, I am looking forward to the graphics and of course music. The battle system from a view only impression seems compelling. I wonder if there will be Haste or ATB charge type items.

A big FF world to explore is a plus and I hope we will have housing. (airship housing anyone? maybe not moveable airships but to look over the edge and see the world would be fantastic. and you could "dock" in any one of the main cities to change your view from time to time.)

Anticipation is harder for this game then just about any other MMO on the horizon, part of that may simply be knowing the release date. But it's dual edged.

I always get excited when a new mmo releases, especially one like FFXIV.  ITs had many time to become an aquired taste and should bode well with its community.  FFXIV could be considered nich in that its had 13 other games to gather its crowd and people should know by now what type of gameplay we can expect out of it.  Never the less I know there will be many new players looking to join the world that havent played any older games before 14 hits retail.   Ill be right behind them waiting for it.

I'm excited about alot.. It would probably be a shorter list if I were to list what I wasn't excited about..

    Here's the list:

    <placeholder for empty list>

    Pretty short eh?

Seriously though, I'm actually looking forward to getting some use out of my Wireless XBOX 360 controller, while kicking back in my lay-z-boy playin some good ol' fashioned PVE MMO goodness.

I'm looking forward to the fresh start, the thing that always got to me about FFXI was that even tho i started on launch day, the games economy and everything was already set by Japan who got the game like a year earlier? Now that FFXIV is coming I can feel what FFXI's true release was like and explore a whole world that isn't already mapped out and explored on some Japanese Database site like WowHead.

My sentiments exactly on the fresh start.  It was so much fun starting from scratch in that game.  You really got a chance to build up your character over the years to your flavor of playing style.  As the years progress this promises the same and better results.  Honeslty, FFXI really kept the game challenging enough to keep only the dedicated players going.  I am hoping that same mentality to carry over, some of the best groups I have had in MMOs since EQ came from 11.  Lots of things to cheer for, can't wait.

The community has always been a strong point for FF game so I am hoping that stays the same here. I'm also glad they didn't dumb down the game in regards to graphics. It is always so much better playing in a world that looks beautiful.
