For a few weeks now, I've set some money aside to be able to play Aion. Thing is, Square-Enix just released the pre-orders for Final Fantasy XIV. Both are games I've waiting for for a long time. Which should I go for? Is Aion still worth it?
Do you want to play something now or wait a few months? Comparing the gameplay between the two would be like comparing apples or oranges.
But you have enough time right now to purchase Aion and at least play your free month and be able to decide if you want to continue or decide to wait through for FFXIV to launch towards the end of September (I think).
Ncsoft doesn't really care about Aion anymore but if you are more into PvP well then Aion is your game. If you like a more sandboxed class PvE approach wait for FFXIV.
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!
"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play." "Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."
1. Dont bother with Aion u wont be able to do most of the epic quests since there aint many new players. Too many ppl got hacked and banned for no reason.
2. FF14 u might not like it since its really a console game.
I think you have to consider what type of game you want. Aion has a good amount of PvP, while FF14 will be a PvE game. I wasn't too happy with Aion when I made it to 50. I don't know how happy I will be with FF14 since there is no PvP, but I plan to check it out.
Both are "grind" heavy on the PvE side. The biggest difference is the presence of PvP. If you want PvP action your best bet is Aion atm. If you'd prefer to only PvE go with FFXIV. There is a way to play Aion so you only PvE (there's guides on the official forums), but if you skip all the PvP content you are missing out on a lot of the fun.
Aion's fun I guess till somthing better comes along. If your looking to spend your money on a game you'll stick with for awhile, I wouldn't spend it on Aion. Fun game the first playthrough, but not enough to make you stay with it for the long run most likely.

Wait until FF14 NDA is lifted. Then you'll have more info.

Neither. Everquest 2
actully its a PC game with controllers in mine
2 completely different games IMO. One sucks....I mean one isn't good and the other is from a tried and true staple of RPG stock.
One has story, the other does not. One gives a plethora of class options the other does not.
However, one has pvp, the other does not, lol. But who cares!?
