  I'm pretty sure they are looking into an F2P alternative for several reasons. Look at DDO which got a massive boost in players after going F2P, AoC is in a situation now where they can charge monthly fee for the expansion and have the rest F2P like they did with AO if I remember correct. F2P for AoC might not be a bad solution as long as they don't put in cash shop where you can buy gear, gems etc. And who knows it might also generate load more players and monthly money then today's solution.

  As I predicted earlier this system overhaul they are doing will get the game set to roll into F2P status.
