LF game because I don't want to level/skillup anymore

jezvinjezvin Member UncommonPosts: 804

This isn't a typical "I want a skill based system instead of level based system" I really don't want to have to grind out a skill or a level anymore. To give ya an idea of what I mean I recently played warhammer endless trial leveling to 10 was decently fun just doing scenarios and the open world PvP.

So the leveling there seemed to happens naturally although I had the idea in the back of my head that I need to get to level ten to be fully capable

I think I am looking for a game that I can play without ever having to say to myself I need to go skill up/level up a bit so I can do such and such event.

wouldn't that be nice right lol.

I think the bit about warhammer explains it well, but just another story. league of legends, I've been playing that a lot and I have never really concerned myself with what level or how many more levels I need, it was always just playing the game and working on w/e champ I picked that round. the levels and progression came naturally.

another story ffxiv, I was exploring usually I'm used to just going around in games and seeing some nice scenery which is basically what I found exploring, but in this one far corner of the world I found a mob I knew from ffxi it proceed to one shot my young character but I enjoyed actually seeing something that I wanted to, then I found another place I wanted to explore, so I run in and die to the mobs at the entrance I'm faced with the idea now that I need to level/skill up some more to see the rest of this dungeon i had been progressing at a good rate but then it just hit me. The skilling up got a bit slower and I was just in general sick of it and didn't want to go thought all the mindless hours when I'm suppose to be having fun.

So i guess I really like exploring and pvp, I've already played almost everything but I'm always up for something I haven't tried.

I'm betting someone out there can surprise me.

yeah i know I like those games alot but just the exploration aspect of an MMO is really what gets me, it's why I could play ffxi prob one the most grindy non pvp MMO in the world and loved it while at the same time playing darkfall hardcore and loving it also. both had such a rich world to see they were fantastic.

I love FPS, RTS not so much. But they arn't MMOs.

You should try LOCO, once open beta starts. Which is in two more days.

You have the Idea, I tried eve for awhile but I could never really get into it I had a character for like 2 or 3 years but literally all I did was train skills. There just wasn't anything there to look at, It was space every place was bassicly the same. ended up just giving the character to a friend.

what would I do with a resource? well I would tell people about it, even if I shouldn't.

I was just like in darkfall when they patched in boats and sea towers. Astrolabes were bassicly a mystery to a lot of people but I got word they droped off the sharks and actually farmed them giving our desert island a significant amount of boats, but I kept telling people, I can't help it. I didn't make it known to the world but didn't keep it as a secret as I should have.

I think I like playing new MMOs the best lol.

I agree with the above. Tried EvE numerous times, keep falling asleep mining. A new MMO is the way to go. GW2 hopefully. SWG just is taking too long to put out.

Have you never tried the new Fallout? (bethesda one)

I love to explore a lot too and i've never found an mmo wich allow that, generally they have a few areas if you are low level, other areas if you have more than few level ecc ecc.

I havn't tried the new fallout, or any fallout really. I lose intrest in singleplayer games very fast for some reason. I don't think I have really been able to played fully though a singleplayer rpg in a long time.

I've heard alot of good stuff about it though.

I am definatly waiting on guild wars 2, but it's at the point where they released enough info so that it sounds amazing but we really don't have any idea how any of the game will actually work. Natually we just fill it in with what would be amazing :D

Ok then give it a try cause it's all about exploration, random events and quests you got involved cause you where just passing by maybe, and everytime it's up to you to chose how to go on. It's really involving if you like the post apocaliptic scenario.

(you can even found an ufo crash site if you are really lucky, and of course if you search well there are alien weapons and stuff... the game is amazing)

I think it's a really good replacement untill some new mmo ships.

I'll have to also throw in for fallout 3. I got the game, not really expecting to spend much time in it, and WOW was I wrong. I think I spent a total of 2 weeks (IE Solid time) inside 2 months in that game. Very addictvie, haunting, and so.. right. The story drags u right in, and even if u choose not to follow the main story, theres just so many side quests you can do, and stuff to explore. Its really neat finding some chinses soldiers inside a bunker with a ham radio set up as a becon, who died waiting for rescue. Or following the story of a family trying to re-unite in a bunker, only to finaly meet the 'dad' as a anchient ghoul.

Its not multiplayer, and its not a mmo, but I would bet that you would very much enjoy it. And hey, it would be something to do while u searched for that perfect multi-player game :D

Face of Mankind is an MMO with no levels whatsoever, it's basically just an FFA-FPS game that centers on player politics. Each planet is well designed for chokepoints, and some are pretty much mazes, but they can be worth exploring sometimes. There's no real reason to explore though, unless you get a mission to hack some security barriers, in which case it's actually smart to find a spot not many people will catch you in the act of doing it. Pretty fun game when war is going on, but can be boring as all hell otherwise. Might even make you scream for a game that has levels again, I always point people who say they don't want grind towards it, if only to prove to them that grind = something to do.

You could always try out Rakion/GunZ those are PvP-oriented games. Though leveling exist there too but i never felt the "need" to level. Yes equips had level requirement but it didnt bother me that much, it was mostly all about skill. Though havent played those two in ages so dont know those games current status as how ruined the game is with botters/cheaters/Item Mall. I had great times while playing those.

3rd game you could try is Divine Souls which has just ended its first Closed Beta and the 2nd closed beta is coming some time. This game is about same as Rakion and Gunz except Divine Souls has PvE and PvP. Though bad side is the dungeons might come repetetive.

All these 3 games are great if u need a break from a game where u click on a monster and wait it to die. Also in all 3 I never felt the "need" to level up. And PvP in all those three were fun also.

FoM in the beta was great. But now, unless u really enjoy standing around and 'roleplaying'(IE typin everything out) or doing the same thing on the forums, OR you enjoy random 'ganking' you'll be bored to tears.

FoM is the extreme, either you go full fps and play the game as such, or you try to 'craft' which means u stand at a 'mining terminal' for hours and hours one nd clicking a button. (Real time, u actualy gotta stand there and click the little button every minute to mine resources or make items)

It would have been a great game if it was what it was in the beta, which was the same thing, but larger population, and more stuff to do. And not sure if it matters to you or not, but third person in FoM is seriously borked. Forced 'over the shoulder' view which just gives me a headache now :P

    what Atma said.

I started in the last OB and had a blast, and went back a month or two ago and there is only a fraction of loyal players left. Around New Year's it was amazing, I PvPed for 16 hours straight while trying to keep the cops from taking over planets when the rest of the players were out partying, probably the best PvP I've ever had in an MMO. Some real tactics applied, like firelines at chokepoints with medics healing, and snipers on the roof blasting anyone getting within range. Firelines hate grenades though.

When I returned to the same faction I was back then, the Brotherhood of Shadows, they were still at war (so there was at least something to do), but it was with the very faction we were allied with back then to defend their locations (Eurocore). I recommend jumping into a faction like BoS if you want guaranteed war-baed PvP, or maybe FDC if you just want to make raids here and there. The faction you choose is important, as they focus on different aspects of the game itself. The corporations don't war very often, and you will likely be standing around and crafting all day (which *is* boring as shit). If you fancy yourself a bit of a douchebag, try the police faction LED, you can go around arresting people and being a jerk - but I highly doubt you'll get along with your superiors, who tend to take this game WAY too seriously.

    to sum it up, faction-wise

BoS (drug traffickers), LED (cops) and FDC (miitary) see the most PvP action.

GoM and the three corporations (VI, EC and CMG) tend to sit around and craft all day.

Mercs are very hard to play as if you don't join a cell, as most people just don't trust you to be around them without causing trouble, and especially since one renowned cell is a well-known group of hackers. Every time they get banned from the game they jsut return under new aliases and a new cell.

~if you already picked a faction and don't like it, you need to hand off all your money and die until all your clones are used up. If you have no clones, nor money in the bank to auto-buy the next, you will permadie and get to remake the character. Same name can be used, but if you made an ass of yourself in order to get killed off, you may want to use a different name.

Yeah I tried FoM out for a few hours was alright. I picked FDC and we just kept running to the same area and fighting the BoS. It got boring fast because there was so few people I ended up just starting to kill random people and quit.

    Well still looking.
