I might return to the game if it goes free to play, just to have some fun leveling up another character.

But what will be left on my account, will there be any characters left.  Will my whole account be transfered before the p2p game goes live ?

My current account is for the game at release and the Moria expansion. Will i still have access to all this content.

Will i still have access to the runemaster class ?

not sure if its applied to EU acc too but

    1. I am a regular subscriber on a monthly or multi-month subscription plan. What will Free-to-Play mean for me?

As a subscriber to LOTRO, you are automatically upgraded to VIP status. You will keep all your membership privileges as long as you keep paying your monthly fee. You will automatically receive 500 Free Turbine Points every month like the other VIPs, and you can spend the Turbine Points at your leisure in the LOTRO Store to enhance your game experience and keep playing the way you want.

    1. I am a former subscriber to LOTRO. What will Free-to-Play mean for me when I come back to play when LOTRO Free-to-Play is available?

As a former subscriber to LOTRO, you are always welcome back to join the fight. You will, by default, be awarded the status and privileges of a Premium player, and you can join the game and play for free. You can also visit the new LOTRO Store to browse through a wealth of new items and a la carte options to enhance your gameplay!

You may also consider becoming a VIP to receive 500 Free Turbine Points automatically every month and gain access to other unique privileges. You can upgrade to VIP at any time by visiting https://myaccount.turbine.com once LOTRO Free-to-Play is available.

    2.

I purchased the Mines of Moria™ Expansion and/or the Siege of Mirkwood™ Expansion. Can I still access this content? Will I still be able to play my Rune-keeper or Warden characters? What if I unsubscribe?

When LOTRO Free-to-Play becomes available you will still be able to access the content and features of any expansions you have previously purchased. Whether you are a VIP or a Premium player, the content and features of these expansions will be available to you in their entirety.

If you decide not to join the VIP program or decide to downgrade to Premium player status, the content and features of these expansions will still be available to you. You will still be able to play your Rune-keeper and Warden characters as long as they are in character slots you have selected or have unlocked by visiting the LOTRO Store.

I read somewhere that you keep the expansions that you already own and all of your characters will still be active.

So basically i can still play my level 30 or so rune-keeper.. if i put it in one of my 4 or so available slots.. but i can not start another new runekeeper without buying the class-upgrade.

Sounds like somewhat illegal to me... I hope those classes will be by default unlocked for eeryone that bought the Moria expansion.

Yea if you have Moria you have Rune keeper/Warden no matter what.

If you are not VIP you will still need to SOA content after the starting zones.

    Here's the bottom line.

Your old account will be converted over to the new F2P. If you subscribed with that account in the past, it will be considered a PREMIUM account, even if you are not currently subscribed. All the characters you had on the account will still be there.

For Premium, you will have access to 3 character slots for the "core" game. When you log into the game after F2P launches, some type of message will pop and tell you to pick the 3 characters you want to play.

If you also had previously had the Moria expansion, that will entitle you to an additional 2 character slots. So now you will have 5 possible characters you can play as a Premium Player. This also raises your level cap to 60 and access to Legendary items as per the Moria expansion, as well as all quest packs associated with Moria.

If you previously had Seige of Mirkwood expansion, level cap goes to 65 as well as all quest packs associated with Mirkwood.

If you previously bought the Adv. Pack, that adds 20 shared bank slots plus another 2 character slots.

The main thing to remember is this, as a FREE player which includes the bottom tier completely FREE players and also PREMIUM players, the penalty for playing free applys mainly to content from Shadows of Angmar AFTER Bree, The Shire, and Ered Luin.

    Penalties include:

    1. number of accesible character slots

    2. gold caps

    3. number of accessible trait slots *

    4. swift travel routes other than the initial 4 (Thorin's Hall, Celondim, West Bree, The Shire)

    5. "official" support channels

    6. Destiny points (not to be confused with Turbine Points. TP are the "money" for the Turbine Store other than good old CC)

    7. MonsterPlay

    8. anything else that I can't remember oofhand ;)

see account matrix chart here: http://www.lotro.com/betasignup/vipchart.html

When you look at the matrix chart, it is considered as the "core" game. Any additions to the "core" game are noted at the bottom below the chart. Hope that helps.

This will only count for the US Turbine accounts..

How about the European codemaster accounts ?  noboddy answered that question yet ?  What will happen to the european playerbase, will it be the same as with DDO?

This answer wasnt good enough? ;)

Europe will get F2P just like US but Codemasters will still run it.

DDO was completly different since there was another company involved in the European version (Atari...)
